Past in Nigeria
- He didn't want Eko to go on the drug smugglers' plane because he knew it was going to crash.
- When they were young, Eko and Yemi exchanged lives. It seemed Yemi was destined to become a gangster, while Eko was to remain in the village as a priest, but when Eko shot the old man, Fate was altered.
On the Island
- When Yemi died, Eko's life became overdrawn. The Island may have drawn Eko to itself so that he and Yemi could exchange places once more. This explains Eko's death shortly after his discovery that Yemi's body was missing, as well as the disappearance of Christian's body.
- It is interesting that the Monster, which Rousseau described as the Island's "security system," was what was used to kill Eko, thus altering his and Yemi's destiny.
- The producers have said that we saw the Monster after "The 23rd Psalm" without knowing it. This incarnation was Yemi in "?", as it would appear that the Monster took Yemi's form in "The Cost of Living".
- Yemi may not have died as was previously believed by Eko. Maybe he has been alive on the Island and used some other corpses to trick his brother. These corpses were later removed before "The Cost of Living" in order to further confuse Eko or goad him to the Monster.
- It's possible that he has ties to the Island and needed to get there, thus explaining his precognition of the plane crash.
- It's also possible that the Monster picks dead bodies and steal their memories, so it can became like the real person to trick (in this case) Eko.
- "Yemi" can be a clone of the real Yemi which was dead. His body was taken by the Others and performed a clone. The purpose to trick and kill Eko while he is alone. This Theory can be support by what "Yemi" say to Eko "I'm not your brother". Also a clone of Walt and Jake's Father can be exist.
Location of Remains
- Yemi's body was simply engulfed in the funeral pyre set by Eko in "The 23rd Psalm".
- Yemi was eaten or taken by the Monster shortly after Eko found him on "The 23rd Psalm". That is why Yemi came back and said "it is time to be judged, brother"
