skks, OK, I understand now, have replied, could you help me out with some editing please? --User_talk:ActiveValue#Useless_pages --ActiveValue 08:28, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

Hey, I'm new here... just wondering what the policy is, exactly. Are we not allowed to post things that may be non-canonical? Because I think there's a lot of interesting things out there, as long as we put a disclaimer at the top of the page saying that it's "not canon and might not have anything to do with Lost officially but there's a chance that it could and that's the reason we're posting it"? You know what I mean? Like the whole Widmore/Valenzetti/S.K. Nave/Herb Rogers/Michael Sontag/Global Paradigms Corp. thing? BC 13:38, 28 April 2006 (PDT) BC

Got it! My apologies. I guess I don't know all the "rules" about wikis. I'll be more carefull. --Stew Erickson 06:46, 29 March 2006 (PST)

What do you mean by not editing with signatures in the discussion pages? Everyone uses signatures. I'm confused. --Stew Erickson 05:10, 29 March 2006 (PST)

I have a request for you - can you maybe use the summary field? it makes it easier for others to quickly see what changed on a page in the overview. Thanks a lot :-) --aurora glacialis 14:42, 7 March 2006 (PST)

Been mostly participating in the discussion/talk pages and didn't deem it necessary for those as i generally sign my stuff anyway, then again, the article edits I've done have also missed the summary so I guess I'm caught there. If you're wondering, they've mostly been fixes on grammar typos (i hate typos!!!!!) and I did the plane seating codes for the main characters i knew the details on. In any case, I'll try to remember it from now on. --skks 14:50, 7 March 2006 (PST)

Great :-) - It's just - if one clicks on "recent changes", it makes browsing through the changes a lot easier if there is a hint like "typos" or "grammar". Not just for me (I'm just a little lostaway too), but also for the ones who guard the articles.

The time zone

Look, since you live in Finland you should know the difference between GMT, CET and EET (standard time). CET is GMT+1. EET is GMT+2. Which makes EET: CET+1. And if you don't take my word for it, take a look at this page or this page... --Jambalaya 06:52, 9 March 2006 (PST)

I stand corrected, I assumed CET was the same as GMT/UTC. I do however think that when using modifications to the timezone, one should use GMT or UTC as the base, saying CET+n is just like saying PST+n or EST+n. CET isn't zulu, might as well use the local timezone. --skks 08:10, 9 March 2006 (PST)

I agree, but it seems more sensible to to stick to GMT+/-x as not everyone knows what a timezone is called. --Jambalaya 08:34, 9 March 2006 (PST)

Yeah that's what I meant, using GMT as a base instead of CET as CET isn't zulu.--skks 08:41, 9 March 2006 (PST)

Typo on Non Canon

Could you please indicate the typo? †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --15:11, 20 March 2006 (PST)

Thanks for all of your hard work at the LostPedia. You've been promoted to SysOp!

Thanks, --Admin 22:20, 24 March 2006 (PST)

Keep up the great work! --Admin 23:44, 24 March 2006 (PST)

Re: Minor edits

Sorry, I'll tag more edits as minor from now on :-) --Jambalaya 08:52, 25 March 2006 (PST)

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the selected group of lostaways with sysop powers. This is in no way an orientation film ;) but amongst your newfound responsibilities are not only preventing Bob, spammer and vandal attacks. as you see, I am the one in charge of updating the daily news feature on weekdays, Plkrtn was in charge of updating "This week on LOST", but has been offline for a while. We need somebody to fill that position in. Special:Uncategorizedpages must remain empty except for the Main Page. Be specially wary of edits by anonymous users. I wholeheartedly recommend using the RSS feed to keep track of edits without having this page in an open window. I use Mozilla Firefox and it works wonders with wiki, I specially recommend the Clippings extension, it makes continuous editing really easy.Something important to remember when blocking vandals, spammers and Bob; use the espionage feature to get their IPs and ban them as well. And most important of all have fun. This weekend has been difficult for me, and with your help we can thwart the Bob menace. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --09:42, 25 March 2006 (PST)

proper case for titles

Please Use Initial Capitalization Only for Proper Names. This makes linking to pages like "supply drop" easier in the middle of sentences, which looks more proper than "Supply Drop" and is easier to use than [[Supply Drop|supply drop]]. -- Lostpedian 09:38, 10 April 2006 (PDT)

Ursa Major

Dude, come on course it has appeared on the show not to mention the link with the numbers, why the delete? seems harsh, especially as I was actually concentrating on how to establish true north despite magnetic interference. Morrison

Thanks man,I know its not a competition, no hard feelings dude, love yer work. Morrison

It seems to me that it's only you who constantly differentiates the sysops from everyone else. You sound like we're the 'big brother' and you're the only person with free will in this wiki. I'm not talking about what you say in your manual of style. It's the general attitude you present more than any other thing, you take it personally if someone reverts your edits and seem to be unwilling to accept that this might happen. This is the main problem here, you can't seem to be accept that what you're doing is disruptive more than helpful. You can take this like i'm abusing my sysop powers and oppressing your rights as a person - like you have before, or you can skip the paranoia and think about why am I saying what I'm saying. --skks 08:06, 21 April 2006 (PDT)

I don't mind if someone reverts me. I take strong issue when someone reverts me and makes a point of saying that they are a sysop - as if that suddenly makes them "Right" and implies that they don't need to discuss calmly. The Talk page of the Manual of Style is still a red link... if ANYONE has an issue, they should be using that page to discuss. That is the true disruption. -- Lostpedian 08:14, 21 April 2006 (PDT)

i use the preview, but when i finished the edit i always find a error and i need to fix it!

== Thanks!!!! ==I was just discussing with Jabberwock the proper course of action regarding Lostpedian, but you jumped right at it. This is the third time he gets banned. Thank you very much, you know I could not do it myself. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --08:16, 24 April 2006 (PDT)

Me, sockpuppet?

I suppose it was just a reference to one of my comments on one of the talk pages? ;-) *ponders* --Jambalaya 17:02, 30 April 2006 (PDT)

Logo Contest

Hey there,

It's time to help pick some logos for the nominations round.

I've setup this page for us to discuss it.

Thanks, Admin (Kevin)

Good theory - add it

Okay! Great! ...uhm.. er, where? ZachsMind 13:56, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Logo Contest/Copyright Issues

I was reading logo nomination page and I noticed that you mentioned that one of my logos, this one and its variants, may be in breach of copyright. You mentioned that the Globe behind resembles the Wikipedia globe, and I agree but I would like to clarify that it was made from scratch and I have the ability to prove it. Also upon closer examination one can see that the pieces missing are not on the same side. (I do understand the other concern, that perhaps it should not strongly resemble the real thing.) Furthermore, you suggested that the rest of the logo could have been derived from a screenshot of the episode. This is not the case, I have the photoshop file which is composed of several different, very high resolution layers. I will provide this if you'd like to see it. Here is the image I used as a reference, however it is not even at the same angle as my logo submission. If the puzzle emblem is your concern, I also entered variants without the puzzle in the background, such as [this one]. I'm not trying to be belligerent here, I only wanted to clarify that this entry, as with all my others, does not infringe on any copyrights. Thank you. Smeagol 13:46, 4 May 2006 (PDT)

I think you're reading what you want or fear to read. All I said concerning your work was "it's debatable whether this is in breach of copyright, but another debate with the copyright owners isn't exactly what we're looking for". I'm not in charge of which logo suggestions get picked or which can't be picked and you have nothing to prove to me. If you're wondering the reason why you didn't make it to my list, your images didn't have a transparent background. I understand you want to protect your work but you're barking up the wrong tree. Good luck in the competition. --skks 01:29, 5 May 2006 (PDT)
Right. I guess I just felt like chrisbliss18 was getting the wrong impression there. (He removed his wildcard after reading your suggestion, despite your additional comment that you weren't suggesting that he should. I guess it's his decision though.) I realized that my images weren't transparent, I understood that this was why my entries weren't on your page of qualifiers. And about the screenshot thing, when you said "the counter also could have been derived from a screenshot" I felt like I should clarify that it wasn't. But I wasn't really sure if you thought that or if you were only concerned others might jump to that conclusion. Thanks, Smeagol 13:24, 5 May 2006 (PDT)

Your message

You said, when you want to edit the whole article instead of one subheading - you should use the top edit link instead of the one in the respective subheading. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure where you are referring to. The whole article cannot be edited without using the top edit link. Using the subheading link only allows editing of the subsection. Please clarify. LOSTonthisdarnisland 00:59, 11 May 2006 (PDT)

I know that's what you said; I'm not certain why you said it, given that it is not possible to do otherwise. That's why I questioned your statement. LOSTonthisdarnisland 01:06, 11 May 2006 (PDT)
It has nothing to do with the use of preview (which I used every time). There were edit conflicts with another user, and errors had to be corrected. LOSTonthisdarnisland 10:28, 18 May 2006 (PDT)
Again, I use the preview each time, and I was correcting some of the errors and edit conflicts between Peephole and my edits. Sometimes it takes multiple edits to make sure everything is right, regardless of preview, especially when someone is editing at the same time. I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't state the obvious to me again. Thank you. LOSTonthisdarnisland 10:43, 18 May 2006 (PDT)

All articles are now Protected from Moves

TO: All Sysops

Our most recent troll found a really annoying way to automate a ton of edits. Making the rolling back process take much much longer. He made rollbacks very difficult by deleting the content on the article, saving and then moving the article to a new location.

Long story short. I have updated the database to force every article to be move protected. Only Sysops have the rights to move articles from one place to another.

When this vandal returns, we will be able to roll back his changes in the normal EASY way. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Admin --Admin 07:25, 8 July 2006 (PDT)

Please confirm an email address

Hello, I have a message I'm sending only to SysOps. Please register and confirm your email address when you get a chance. Thanks --Admin 17:35, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

No problem, thanks for the hint. To be honest, I had not noticed the "Show preview" option before, thanks for pointing it out. --PandoraX 09:59, 5 September 2006 (PDT) ==Recent Changes Limit

Fwd: Hows this look?

I'd like a vote on how this Template:Banned looks. If we should use it or not, if it would be practicle. Thanks for your time --Ironman 08:25, 12 October 2006 (PDT)

P.S: Do they really love Conan O'Brien in Finland?

O'Brien is popular, his cynical/self-ironic humour sets in with the general temper of a general Finn. We have the same qualities, just check the suicide rates.

Current Status if I could only edit my page (i presume it's protected by myself when I was still a sysop) to say that I'm permanently LOST to this particular section of the Internet, due to constant fear of spoilers and other more personal issues that require more attention. I might check in occasionally, but that's about it. Sorry guys and gals (I'm sure everyone's very disappointed), but there are more important and things to my life at this point. I once said to someone that I'm on a hiatus, but it seems more like I'm really just done. If anyone of the sysops feels like deleting my page, you have my permission. Not signing out, just letting everyone know that I'm officially away from this particular game and I don't see a way back with the same amount of commitment as way back earlier.

If the luggage permits, contact details remain the same. GEOF is the only person from here on my msn list as he was the only one I could really talk to, everyone else, feel free...
