:To put it briefly. There is a heated discussion about whether Lostpedia should have its own article on Wikipedia, or a link upon the LOST article. The editors of the LOST content on Wikipedia do not think we should have any presence on Wikipedia. The editors of Wikipedia in general believe that we should either have an article of our own, like other notable fan wikis, such as Memory Alpha or Wookieepedia, or a link on the LOST article. One particular prominent user has also been banned from here, and this seems to be his primary motivation, as whenever he comes up with an argument for why we shouldn't be included, it gets dismissed several times over, and then he finds a new one, which also gets dismissed. Its more of a vendetta that one particular editor's behalf than editorial integrity. -- 06:31, 19 October 2006 (PDT)

Good article nominations
Hi Nomad, the perfect place to nominate a good article is Lostpedia:Featured_Article_Selection. Each week we vote on it, and the one people like the most ends up making the front page as the AOTW (article of the week). Take care, -- 14:54, 31 October 2006 (PST)

:* You raise some good points; on something aside from AOTW? I personally think one award alone would be enough; for example, if one doesn't "pass snuff", it usually doesn't get deleted from the nominations 'roll call' right away (unless there are a lot of "nos"), and gets revisited next week. A lot of articles which are "almost there" pass this kind of judgement, people work on them for a while, and then we do another vote. This is how Sri Lanka Video became AOTW. On Article Attack, I see you already started talking on that talk page, which is probably the best place to put out your new ideas. :) I am just one editor (and a pretty new sysop), and someone who hasn't done much with the Article Attack concept, so it'd be good to solicit feedback from other sysops and users over there (I'd cut and paste what you wrote on my page into Lostpedia:Article Attack's discussion. My understanding is it is still a work in progress, so everyone's ideas are still welcome. Good luck! -- 15:31, 31 October 2006 (PST)

::*Yup, done... (and don't worry about it) -- 15:40, 31 October 2006 (PST)

:::*Heh, sorry, I think that may have been a misunderstanding. :::::Hey, well you are certainly welcome to nominate it for AOTW, don't need my permission for that :). I'll say again that I personally am not always a huge fan of paragraph format for all things. I think for some, it works out well, like episode synopses, but for some, like Religion, it's made for bullet format, because they are separate points, but this is IMHO only, and if you talked to someone else on the talk page, they might feel differently. You, I, and Nick are not the only ones interested in that page, so it's not really up to just us :) -- 07:03, 12 November 2006 (PST)

On Redemption Quote..
*Yes, I agree, we should be seeking not to spread info we can't confirm and get the source. However, I do believe something similar was said on the S1 DVD, and I'll seek it out later (grr, my friend hasn't returned my S1s yet). I am however pretty sure about the podcast comment, which I'll keep in there. -- 18:37, 7 November 2006 (PST)

:* I've actually felt strongly since S1 that redemption was a strong theme of the story, so it would have had my vote regardless. :) I actually am staff for lost.cubit.net also (unfortunately, a site that is down now, but check it out later), and for the Themes section there, wrote a pretty lengthy article on many of these points... I would have made an article like this sooner or later, I think, I was just trying not to just cut and paste it from the other site, which would not be right. So I'm glad you started it. I do think it's a better theme than some of these silly ones that people are trying to add to the themes category, like "Kissing" and "Pearls". Lost is a lot deeper than that, and there's a lot to discuss, if people would really think about how the episodes intertwine and characters relate. -- 18:46, 7 November 2006 (PST)

::* Excellent research with the quote!! :) Going to add it, it's the kind of referencing that we need, great job. I'll work on extracting that Bender thing out (for now, though it may actually be present somewhere, since it is so explicitly added... we'll see). ==I'll try...==

...my best to explain it all - its complicated stuff. Basically, both pages are accurate. What we usually did was on the Lost Experience Clues pages, write a brief description of the daily Rachel Blake clue and then link to e.g. Rachel Blake Iceland 02 for more information and a text transcript for her blog. In this case for some reason the whole thing was added to the clues page as well. Anyway, the discussion between myself and Aero is in regards to a different thing, it was a fake blog added on blogspot claiming that "my former blog has been hacked, this is my new one etc etc". The content was later replaced as a real Iceland Post 02 emerged. So yes, the current content on that page is completely accurate, the five hieroglyphics did feature in The Lost Experience and the savants at the Vik Institute were running the Valenzetti Equation with those symbols. Hope thats cleared it up for you -- 06:41, 10 November 2006 (PST)

Re:Sayid
Its just lines such as Later in the Hatch, Sayid noticed the magnetic anomaly coming from the walls, which he continued to inspect in service passageways. and other clauses that I feel are unneccessary and just make the article huge when it could be more concise. Also, I might suggest all the stuff on faith just be merged into Religion and ideologies so that the main Sayid article could just have a nice small religion reference with a See main article... above it. Just little things like that I think could improve it a bit more IMO -- 15:40, 10 November 2006 (PST)

:Elaboration wise, sure I'll try to do a few things tomorrow (bit late over here right now). And skills wise, I think it should really stay as I don't see any alternative right now and like what you've done with it (Sayid does apparently have skills in everything so a nice catalogue) -- 15:57, 10 November 2006 (PST)

::I've trimmed the pre and post crash sections now, not as overblown as I first thought but still taken out or reworded quite a bit. The original content is still pretty much intact though, so hopefully you won't find issue with anything. I'll leave the faith bit to you, unless you want me to merge it and do a short note on the Sayid page? -- 05:18, 11 November 2006 (PST)

:Nope looks fine at the mo, nothing I'd change I don't think. And yeah sure you could just leave it on featured article selection anyway, and it probably will get featured in a fortnight. Regards, -- 07:05, 11 November 2006 (PST)

Arabic?
Hi Nomad... excellent work, once again, on Sayid & Religions pages...

It appears you speak Arabic, correct? If so, I was wondering if I could get your help on two small points of translation. One is shown here: http://lost.cubit.net/forum/gallery/5_01_10_06_5_06_06.jpg Someone, who is a pretty reliable Arabic translator said the graffiti on the left says "Forgive the enemy who is leaving". Just wanted to get a confirmation on this. The other is something I haven't gotten a chance to bring up to that guy... in the season finale, "Live Together, Die Alone", there is a scene where Kelvin gets drunk in the Swan, and is playing with the failsafe key, when he is found by Desmond. I was told he is singing an Arabic song, which he learned while in the Middle East. I was wondering if you might have any idea what this song is, or what the lyrics are, if you have the S2 DVDs. If you don't, please don't worry about it. :) -- 08:45, 11 November 2006 (PST)

:: Thanks! No hurry on the DVD stuff. On the other screencap, thanks, but actually, maybe I got the positions confused... what does it say on the graffiti on the right? -- 09:11, 11 November 2006 (PST)

::: Ah, oh well, thanks, that is weird, lol (though less significant.. commercialism is rampant?). Let me know if you can figure out the other Kelvin singing one also. -- 09:51, 11 November 2006 (PST)

:::: Well, now that is more interesting than the barber shop ad :) Maybe you or I can include this in the Songs list when we get a chance? I'm grappling with this Fights page right now, it was full of typos and problems when Nick and I got to it :) Thanks for your help. -- 12:33, 11 November 2006 (PST)

What's up with the new appearance of Lostpedia? The fonts are way huge now. Do you know anything about this change? Yours, Robert K S 06:44, 15 November 2006 (PST)

:Theres a bug somewhere. I'll try and figure out when I'm not at work. I believe its the new ATTENTION header. -- 06:47, 15 November 2006 (PST)

::I dunno about that, as the attention header doesn't use anything but simple formulas - no font adaptations etc. My guess is its something else, perhaps added by Admin after the new theory tab to "make it more efficient" which has evidently backfired-- 06:56, 15 November 2006 (PST)

::::::Actually Nick, all the pages I view over my explorer are still fine, except for Lostpedia, and I didn't install any windows updates recently...I don't know what is causing it for you with other websites, but maybe it has to do with the adjustments you made on your explorer to view Lostpedia at the right font...I for instance only change the IE's Text size to smallest when I come here, to see an almost normal font, then I switch it back to Medium when I leave, otherwise eveything else will be too small -- 08:13, 16 November 2006 (PST)

::::::*I see both alerts, of theories tab and countdown to season 3, are removed, yet the problem still exists..does it exist for everyone, or just me ? (I'm entering the doubt zone!) -- 05:39, 17 November 2006 (PST)

User Page Copying
Hi Nomad. Yeah, we've had problems with this before, and no, it's not considered kosher to cut and paste the exact code off of someone else's page without credit. I might write this in later on Help:User_pages just so we have a written rule about it, because we don't right now, but it is a problem. What I would do is write a civil note explaining that you spent some time working on your user page, and don't want it copied exactly to someone else's, and for them to either change the layout or credit you (your choice). If they don't comply or ignore you, drop a note with one of us and we'll send a more strongly worded msg. Who is it, out of curiosity? -- 12:58, 20 November 2006 (PST)

Hello, first time we talk. I must say I'm really, really sorry for the misunderstanding that happened. I didn't mean to steal your own design; I thought it's a normal way to create User pages. I regret that I did it without asking you first. I took this design off, because it is yours.

:* It's not that, as a nonforeign speaker, I'd rather not use a dictionary, as they are notoriously unreliable for contextual translations. No, the rest is fine, I just didn't like how that one part is edited, and I explained why. I think there's a danger in taking things out of context when you try to put it in paragraph form, and relating small incidents too much to a general theme, and then inferring from that. Don't take it so personally. -- 08:42, 10 December 2006 (PST)

:No, I think you did a fine job with the rest of the paragraph conversion. I just think at this point, the page probably doesn't need to be futzed around with anymore, but that's just one person's opinion. And yes, I do feel strongly that atheism/general religion reference should go on top. One has to decide if one believes in God at all before you tackle the questions of what type of god(s) or how to worship him/her/them. -- 09:02, 10 December 2006 (PST)

::Right...OK. Don't get what you're on about but if on a widescreen the right alignment causes a gap due to the infobox then the pic can be pulled, which I've just done. By a rule, it should go off what it appears as on a normal sized monitor, and so edits shouldn't be made for minor issues experienced by widescreen users.
