Sig Thing

Its not that difficult actually, I thought it would take forever. Anyway right you first make a new link under your username so for you it'd be User:Lost On Craphole Island/sig and in that page you do the signature you wanna have with all your colors and new font etc. Then, go on preferences which is under your toolbar and go on 'nickname' enterring {{User:Lost On Craphole Island/sig}} and then tick 'raw signature' (otherwise it'll show the whole formula you used for colors etc when you sign). Hope this helps. P.S. Whats there to feel stupid about? --Nickb123 (Talk) 11:43, 26 June 2006 (PDT)

  • Ok, I'll try it...I hope this works... --LOCI! 11:55, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
  • Yay, it worked! I couldn't figure out how to do the colors, but I really don't care about that. Thank you so much!!!!!--LOCI! 11:58, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
  • OK, I figured it out now, gonna test, looks great--LOCI! 16:38, 2 July 2006 (PDT)

Shannon said part of your your name. :) --SilvaStorm 07:38, 4 July 2006 (PDT)

Yeah, that's where i got the idea. LOCI! 15:15, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Got your back

Single line disambigs

  • Hey thanks for your help on disambigs. I just wanted to clarify guidelines, because you are overgeneralizing to articles that don't need them. In general, if there are only TWO articles that may be confused, we add the single line disambig at the very top of the PLAIN-named article. Other than that, we do not use this practice EXCEPT in cases where the PLAIN version redirects to an article.
    • For example Michael redirects to Michael Dawson the survivor, therefore people looking for another Michael might reasonably end up on that page, so a disambig line is inserted at the top of Michael Dawson.
    • However someone looking for Adam Horowitz might put in Adam, which is a disambiguation page itself. However other Adam pages do not need a link, because the PLAIN Adam page already serves that function. In other words, no one will end up at the Adam Rutherford page when they are actually looking for Adam Horowitz.
There are a few other exceptions, e.g. subordinate/child articles, but I won't get into that. Thanks again, and btw I love your Shannon-inspired name. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 22:27, 29 October 2006 (PST)
  • OK a few more tips. I'd recommend avoiding adding a single line disambiguation at the top of the article at all, especially in cases where:
    1. Adding a Category tag would be sufficient
    2. A Category tag already exists
    3. Adding a See also article would be sufficient
Otherwise, we will end up with articles with a dozen such lines at the very top. The only situation other than the disambigs I described above that I can think of off hand are subordinate/child articles where the child article does not automatically list a redirect back to the parent, but I think these are mostly covered already. Thanks! -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 22:43, 29 October 2006 (PST)

I notice you've been adding internal links to disambiguation pages; I had previously gone through and removed these links to conform with proposed MoS. Check out the MoS recommendations and comment on them there. Thanks, Robert K S 14:17, 12 November 2006 (PST)

Bob attack

You may relax for now. I intend to do no more vandalism, provided I can negotiate with the admins and they meet my demands--The Right Honourable Bob 13:12, 5 December 2006 (PST)

It seems you are right. Already my attempts to speak with them have been met with disdain- they have been removed already. However, I am not without hope, I will keep trying until such time as I feel all attempts are in vain. Then I shall continue to trash this site.--The Right Honourable Bob 13:16, 5 December 2006 (PST)

Thanks lol, shall remember :D *mutters to self* Portuguese.. portuguese... --lewisg 15:07, 12 December 2006 (PST)

You make it sound all serious

But thanks for all your help! Cheers, brother. Robert K S 16:03, 12 December 2006 (PST)

Re:Edit Count

You just set it to 500, and then click "next" and count how many pages of contributions you've fully completed - so say you're on your third page, you've got at least 1000 edits. At the moment you're still on page 2, so you have at least 500 (I can't be any more specific than that though without counting them all. --Nickb123 (Talk) 15:12, 14 December 2006 (PST)

The Vandal

Kudos to you for being on that vandal like glue ^_^ DeGroot 14:06, 15 December 2006 (PST)

Re: username

Hey LOCI! Nice acronym! To answer your question, I know of the book, but no, it's not. Black Annis is a British folklore legend. She is an ancient witch with blue skin and claws who eats children. Just as good I guess... hehe. Anyway, it's been my username all over the net for about 5 years. blackannis 13:15, 2 January 2007 (GMT)

Quotes Within Articles

  • Im glad you like; it didnt take me long, I just adapted an already existing template. As for your question... I dont really know. What was your original plan for it? --   Lost Soul   talk  contribs  00:16, 16 January 2007 (PST)
  • I like the policy and the template but I have a few suggestions. One, the actual quote goes in italics. Two, the character quotes sould be either a well-known repeated phrase said by the character (think "Dude..." for Hurley or "Don't tell my what I can't do!" for Locke) or a quote which sums up the character or an important thing said by the character (like your Jack example or "All we need is someone who truly loves us, and you have her." for Penelope). But other than that it looks good.--Blueeagleislander 16:44, 16 January 2007 (PST)

EDIT: Where on the articles would they go? --   Lost Soul   talk  contribs  11:33, 17 January 2007 (PST)

  • OK so I had a brainwave. How about this: on charrie pages, the quotes serve as section breakers, and on episodic pages, they are spread sporadicall;y throughout? I'll tell you what; that explanation was awful, so I'll give you some examples later on. --   Lost Soul   talk  contribs  00:28, 18 January 2007 (PST)

OK, so....

Hi Loci... I noticed your sig results in the date stamp being stuck in a <pre>...</pre> box. To fix it, just remove the final carriage return in your sig. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  16:15, 3 February 2007 (PST)

  • Oh and one more thing I noticed, that might be causing the problem. You'll need to close your <font> tags with </font>. Let me know and I can do it, or make a sandbox demo. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  16:15, 3 February 2007 (PST)

New Template

Ive come out with a new one.

Please leave your feed back here: Template:Prevban

This user has gone?!?!?!?!?!? Surprising as she was quite a frequent visitor and contributor. I find the message she left confusing however as I have only been her a short while and already feel myself completely welcomed by the community and I do feel valued. It is a shame that this has happened but I think it is a case of the Mod Curse that befalls many users of many sites. --Princess Dharma (banned) 10:34, 19 February 2007 (PST)

I take it back I understand completely why this user left. Princess Dharma (banned) 06:34, 24 February 2007 (PST)

Sorry to Hear That Your Leaving

You helped me a bit --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 07:47, 24 February 2007 (PST)

To be honest

I am shocked that you left. I just learned of it and im shocked because you made some fantastic edits here and you were part of the Lostpedia "core." Well, best regards -- Iron Man  Send a message  View contributions  11:54, 11 March 2007 (PDT)

  • Agreed. I am sorry that some users and sysops like to make people feel bad about their contributions. -brianopp 09:10, 26 April 2007 (PDT)

She is back! Or on the forums at least, I don't know about the wiki though. --Apollo Candy 19:32, 25 June 2007 (PDT)
