Purpose

Creates a hatnote that links to a character's counterpart in the opposite timeline.

Instructions

Just use {{counterpart|M / F / I}} with one parameter:

  • M for male characters ("his" counterpart)
  • F for female characters ("her" counterpart)
  • I for objects/locations/etc ("its" counterpart)

If no parameter is specified, the template will fall back to "his" counterpart. This input is not case-sensitive.

The template does the rest, and appropriately detects whether or not the current page belongs to the original or flash-sideways timeline based on the title.

If an overwrite is required (for very specific instances), use the name= and timeline= parameters to change the destination link and wording.

Examples

Example Page: "Jack Shephard"

{{counterpart|M}}
Produces:

You may be looking for his counterpart in the flash-sideways timeline.

Example Page: "Kate Austen (flash-sideways timeline)"

{{counterpart|F}}
Produces:

You may be looking for her counterpart in the original timeline.

Example Page with Overwritten Parameters

(Use for characters with different names in different timelines) {{counterpart|M|name=Ethan Rom|timeline=original}}
Produces:

You may be looking for his counterpart in the original timeline.
