Vanilla Sky[]

Was watching Vanilla Sky last night and my eagle eye boyfriend spotted a man who looked like Ethan talking to Penelope Cruz in the club scene. We weren't too sure, but since finding out he's Tom Cruise's cousin it seems quite likely!

Mapother does indeed have a very minor role in that movie! --Jambalaya 06:44, 13 March 2006 (PST)

Very interesting link, given that he's Tom Cruise's cousin it seems likely. On a different wavelength Ive just watched "Dave" and couldnt help but notice a certain similarity to Vanilla Sky, which got me thinking even more, it has struck me throughout the show, is it me or do the sky and water shots look ethereal at times, like they arent quite real? - Morrison

Woah! I actually wondered if he was related when i heard the actor's name! Is JJ Abrams a friend of the family? Or a Scientologist? :O --kaini 18:01, 15 May 2006 (PDT)

just had a wiki. Abrams is an ex-scientologist. interesting! --kaini 18:11, 15 May 2006 (PDT)

Heads up, he's also in M:I II ;) Tebor 02:13, 25 June 2006 (PDT)

Scientology[]

This article on an actor should not be used to promote, attack or take any other position on Scientology. If he were a member, it would be one thing but there seems absolutely no good reason to call out that he attended one course 18 years ago. If you want to mention this, go deal with it on the scientology theory article. Dharmatel4 15:45, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

  • I fail to see how saying he attended a course of scientology is promoting or attacking the religion. It's just a fact and I don't really see what the problem is. It was 18 years ago, but I think the article said that. It is completely neutral. We can state that he is not currently a member, that's not a problem at all.--Mr. Crabby (Talk) 15:57, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
Well, what I see in it is an attempt to push out the ideas from the scientology(theory) article into other places. I see a couple people who seem to be interested in picking a fight using Lostpedia as a platform. I think its also wrong to list vague scientology links (18 years old) to people are not and never were members. What I'm most concerned about is conspiracy people who see one class taken 18 years ago and jump to bad conclusions. Dharmatel4 16:56, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
  • I'm not trying to advertise scientology or get in a fight. I have lots of respect for William Mapother and even have an autographed picture of him. I also respect scientologists. You said to express my opinion on this talk page and I did. We can just say that was 18 years ago and he isn't currently part of the CoS. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 17:08, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
  • Ok. I understand where your coming from and thats an acceptable compromise. Dharmatel4 18:48, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
