Have there been any interviews with this dog? has he indicated any knowledge of season 6? Also, does anyone know whether this dog has another role in the FlashForward series? Also, what does this dog say about his characters motivations? thanks. --[[User:Pulsar110|Pulsar110]] 22:57, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

Revision as of 22:57, 17 February 2010

He seems able to move around without trouble from the Monster.

Seems to have escaped the plane with no injury, like jack, and doesn't appear to have arrived on the islands beach first, like jack, as with the other survivors.

It's a magical island, and the show is fictional. If it was a documentary, they all would have died in the first episode when the plane crashed. This should be enough to dismiss any theories about why any of the characters survived the plane crash without injuries, or why their hair and makeup look so good after months on a tropical island.

As for the monster evasion, why should Vincent be any different from all the other animals of the Jungle?

Both Jack and Vincent could have wandered off from the beach after the initial shock of the crash, just because we didn't see something happen, it doesn't mean it didn't. As far as Vincent goes, I don't think he's a major character with that much at stake. There was a rumour going on 3/4 into the first season that there was going to be an episode with Vincent flashbacks and to show what happened at the plane cargo hold, but it doesn't seem likely that there's going to be such episode, pity. --skks 17:20, 9 March 2006 (PST)

While Vincent is beloved I don't think he is of much importance to the mysteries of the show. It strikes me that he serves mostly as a plot motivator, as I noted in the article, providing excuses for various people to leave the group. Personally, the biggest impact Vincent has had on the show revolves around my girlfriend's threat that if anything happens to him she'll stop watching. Though, at this point she's pretty wrapped up in the whole thing so I think that threat is moot.

Someone signs himself as Vincent Madison on the http://oceanicworldair.com site. Also check this out: [1]

I wouldn't totally rule out that Vincent isn't something strange. After all, in the pilot he is missing for about a day, i think, even though Jack sees him in the jungle just after he comes to, not far from the beach. Dogs aren't particularly inquisitive (unlike cats), there's no reason why they'd make him disappear if there wasn't something strange going on. (does that make sense??!) --LostCat 07:56, 1 May 2006 (PDT)

The writers of Lost are anything but novice writers, everything in the show happens for a reason. In this light Vincent is absolutely a key character to the events on the island being that he was the second living character we saw in the show, the first being Jack of course.

Vincent is the monster in another form?

In the Podcast of 26 May 2006, one of the writers mentioned that we may have seen the Monster in Season 2 in a form we would not have recognised.

The only character I can think to whom this might apply is Vincent - after all Cerberus is in legend the Guard to Hades so it would make some kind of sense to have the island "Cerberus" be able to appear as a regular dog.

I can't think of any of other characters to whom this comment might apply.

And who is to say (apart from maybe Walt) that the dog that everyone else thinks is Vincent is in fact Vincent [or is the same Vincent, Walt put on the plane in Sydney].

Like Ethan Rom, it would be possible for the group to be infiltrated by many outsiders and using the form of a dog to do so would be quite clever and not easy to spot.

In any case, Vincent, like Hurley doesn't lose weight - maybe its that Dharma Ranch Dressing or maybe its something else?

  • Gregg Nations recently addressed this idea: "And Vincent is smokey? Okay, where'd this theory come from? Vincent was Brian's dog before Walt entered his life. So if it were the smoke monster, how could it be with Brian? I think it's pretty safe to think that Vincent is a real dog." http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=62968

If Vincent is the monster then why does he respond to Locke's dog whistle? The monster would have to have high-pitch hearing similar to a dog's. Seems unlikely. --HypnoSynthesis 15:03, 10 January 2007 (PST)

Retrievers of Truth

A new site has popped up - somehow linked to a possible Hanso ad sighting during Boston Legal (unconfirmed).

retrieversoftruth.com

Character is Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bole. Wally Bole=yellow lab. Other similarities. Check it out, but remember - at this time IT IS UNCONFIRMED. HansoCurious 20:09, 6 June 2006 (PDT)

the domain is registered by network solutions, and the WHOIS is sorta dodgy. i'm out of the loop regarding the ARG, but this smells of fake to me kaini. 20:25, 6 June 2006 (PDT)

It's registered to Verizon, and Speaker, after an earlier goof, has confirmed it. Set up a lostpedia page: http://www.lostpedia.com/index.php?title=Retrieversoftruth.com&action=edit -PandoraX 20:37, 6 June 2006 (PDT)

Yeah, I don't like it either, but Speaker has said the commercial on Boston Legal is confirmed. The picture of Bole, although doctored, looks familiar. HansoCurious 20:28, 6 June 2006 (PDT)

If you sign up for the newsletter, you reportedly get this message:

"You're about to enter...

First let's start this by saying, "thank you."

There's a word into which dreams can come true. This email is your gateway to that word and more that will open your mind and your consciousness.

Imagine a field - a field of yellow... yellow labs running free, playful, and enjoying each other's company. But in their hearts they are not complete. They miss an integral part of their being and the thing that makes their existence complete. That one thing is the "word" for which we all search - mankind and labkind.

But first a story.

I was checking into a hotel and a dapper porter escorts me to my room. As we're going up the elevator in total silence I decide to ask him his name. He replies, "Mandrake Wig" and immediately starts to explain the odd name, his German ancestry, and his mother's preoccupation with botany. He ends the story by saying, "my friends just call me Manny."

We continue talking about our lives, hopes, and dreams as I'm getting settled in my room. When he's done I offer a generous tip but he refuses saying, "Let me give you a tip, a single word that will enrich your life, as it has mine." I accept.

The next day I go to the front desk to leave a tip for Manny. They tell me no such person works there. I question everyone with no luck. I think about what he told me and write down his name so I don't forget it. As I write I see something in the letters. I rearrange a few and create the words, "waking dream."

The word he gave me that day was - YOU.

Yours truly, Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bole"

I didn't sign up myself, 'cause others have reported that they also get some "weird stuff" in their inbox. HansoCurious 20:32, 6 June 2006 (PDT)

Vincent on boat in Live Together Die Alone

According to an extra on the S2 DVD, Vincent was (supposedly) on the boat with Michael and Walt when they left. Have no frickin idea how he got there. --Marik7772003 05:27, 15 September 2006 (PDT)

  • Yeah, I wondered that too. But my guess is that it's something that they initial filmed but decided to cut in the end for continuity reasons. --Nahald 08:40, 08 October 2006 (PDT)
  • Now we've seen the Lost Moment they've cut it because obviously
    • They needed Vincent for story reasons
    • It made no sense that Vincent would have been brought half way across the Island like that without anyone noticing he was missing.

Theories

"Vincent will eventually have a flashback episode of his own" - I had a really good laugh over that! Bellemichelle 11:07, 6 November 2006 (PST)

  • As funny as it sounds, I think the writers were actually planning this themselves, too, as a unique episode. I remember them talking about this in one of the podcasts--that they were going to do it, and then saw it in a forum post, so they wrote off the idea. --PandoraX 20:01, 10 January 2007 (PST)
  • It was going to be 1 flashbackin Exodus. It would've taken place in the cargo hold in 1st person and the veiwer was meant to go "OMG! WTF! This peson is going to cause the crash!!!" only to realize that its actually just Vincent lolz. Princess Dharma (banned)

Rewrite Tag

I was just scanning this, and it is pretty informative and includes an image. To me it looks like it has been rewritten since the tag was originally placed. How does everyone feel about removing the rewrite tag, or does anyone have some spots they would like looked at?   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   23:23, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

Second actor, plus episode reference

Okay, Gregg Nations confirmed here that a second dog named Pono is now also playing Vincent in addition to Madison. Any way to add the name to the info box without screwing it up?

Second, there's this weird mention under "Searching for Vincent is often used by the show's writers as motivation for the Island residents to venture into the jungle":

  • Michael's return in the jungle with Jack and Kate.

There's no episode listed, and I'm wondering what it's supposed to refer to. The ending of "S.O.S."? That had nothing to do with Vincent. If no-one can clarify this point, I vote to remove it due to being vague and potentially incorrect.

There is an inconsistency in the Vincent article versus the articles about the "actors" who play him. In the Vincent article, it says both dog actors are female, but the profile of [Pono]] says he's male.--Ememem 20:14, 7 March 2008 (PST)

Was is he?

Vincent seems to disappear and nobody looks for him. Was he in the S3 Finale? I don't think I saw him.--Baker1000 15:08, 3 June 2007 (PDT)

  • Yes, early in the episode, as they begin their trek away from the beach, Vincent is walking with them. Bookhouse88 20:48, 24 August 2007 (PDT)

Should Vincent's former masters be listed as family members ?

  • I'm thinking, that for a dog, masters are family members, but before editing it into the article, I wanted to see what was the general consensus. If I recall correctly, Vincent's masters include Brian Porter, Susan, Walt, Shannon and possibly Michael and Ana Lucia as well. (To an even lesser degree, Claire, Hurley, Sun and Jin were all seen taken care of him in late s3 / early s4) What do you guys think ? --LeoChris 18:18, 30 May 2008 (PDT)

Pono

Since Vincent is portrayed by two dogs we need to add Pono in the top right box. Couldn't figure out how to do it. Not fair Madison gets all the credit

Article Rename

I think Vincent should be renamed to have a surname for Vincent. He has to have a surname!

The options are;

Lloyd

Porter

Rutherford

Dawson

  • No. Dogs don't have surnames. They have an adition to their names which is the name of the kennel they were bred in (an example. if Vincent's kennel was named "von der accent", then and only then we could rename him to "Vincent von der accent"). And the other possibility would be someone refering to him Vincent "Lloyd" on screen, which actually still isn't enough.--Orhan94 07:40, 27 June 2008 (PDT)
    • My dogs have surnames! They have my Surname. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NikkiAndPaulo (talkcontribs) 2009-05-03T12:07:25.
      • While I agree that dogs can have surnames, giving one to Vincent wouldn't be cannon. Plus, it'd be pure speculation, as to which one it is. (While Charlie Hume also is speculation, it's in my opinion a reasonable one. This one ? Not so much.) --LeoChris 19:19, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
4x02 Good dog!

Vincent in the jungle

Vincent Centric Episode

Walt's dog Vincent roams all over the island, and from time to time we see him (but only when the survivors see him). Have you ever wondered what it is Vincent does and witnesses out in the jungle when the survivors don't see him? Or why something bad always seems to happen when he is around? This page is a petition for the creators to consider giving us a Vincent Centric episode, where we can watch on-island flashbacks of character and island secrets from his point of view. This would be a clever idea, because he can't understand human speech and could therefore randomly walk off at cliff-hanger moments (in that typical LOST fashion).

Change : Vincent is the Camp's dog now

The article still states that Vincent is Walt's dog while Walt has left the Island a while ago, Vincent has had other "owners" since, he has bonded with many Losties and he wasn't even Walt's in the first place. The page should say that Vincent is the camp's dog or the survivors' dog.--Lauridsen77 14:07, 17 August 2008 (PDT)

Still, Vincent was initially Walt's dog. It's like saying that the Swan is Locke's hatch since the DI has abandoned it. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 15:03, 17 August 2008 (PDT)

Will Vincent and Walt ever reunite?

Although Walt is kind of big, seeing them reunite would be sweet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ulongfor (talkcontribs) 2008-12-31T16:47:13.

Needs...

a chart of episode appearances or at least a number of episode appearancees —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Four4elements (talkcontribs) 2009-03-02T22:05:28.

Is this page locked?

I am trying to add his episode count (37), but everytime I save my changes it doesn't show.

Removing The Strike Through Season Six

Does anyone object to me removing the strike through the season six section on Vincent's page seeing as he's been confirmed to last til the end? AaronianKenrod 20:38, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

It would probably be best to wait until season six begins and Vincent is shown. Cheers! --Managerpants 20:41, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay, fair point! AaronianKenrod 20:46, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
