Merge[]

Something like this needs to go in a music related page. Maybe Music itself is too canon for fan music, maybe there should be a new page for stuff like this. It might also help with music references in Lost which right now have their own articles, like Purple Haze. --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:43, 30 July 2008 (PDT)

Perhaps a greater page for fan music which could then link to individual articles? --Patrickehlers 09:07, 30 July 2008 (PDT)

Are they really even relevant enough to have a page? -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  20:24, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
  • I reckon a "Fan music" article would be good. --Blueeagleislander 20:34, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Wasn't there another band or two that was like this? I'm not convinced we need to merge articles yet from the arguments above though, especially without a list of other fan bands or bands that play lost-related titles. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  15:33, 16 November 2008 (PST)
    • Found it. It was Gatsby's American Dream. There's also Moneen and Outside references to Lost. I'd almost be inclined to grant Sonic Weapon Fence it's own article since it is a fan phenomenon dedicated to Lost, rather than a band that happened to play a song or two that made reference to Lost. We do have to be careful to keep NPOV and make sure the article is not a platform for self-promotion. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  15:36, 16 November 2008 (PST)
      • I'm fairly sure there was another dedicated band. I'll have a look later. --Blueeagleislander 23:03, 16 November 2008 (PST)
        • This one: Previously on Lost. I'm pretty sure I've seen another one as well. --Blueeagleislander 04:33, 20 November 2008 (PST)
        • Hm, well it might be worth an article on bands strongly tied to Lost, but I'm still not sure. There are probably less than 5 such bands, and having five short articles is not a bad thing as we have short articles on many topics. The options are: 1) separate articles, 2) a Lost band article (need to choose an article name), or 3) merge it all into Outside references to Lost, or a subpage of that article. Arguments for these? -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  10:59, 20 November 2008 (PST)
  • I know of two more Lost-dedicated bands: Barenaked Hurley and The Others. If we're going to allow bands like these on Lospedia, I guess I'd rather they be collected at a single article, perhaps fan music, as suggested above. This would be analogous and similar in style to a page like unofficial podcasts. Better and more convenient to keep them in one place, imo. (Plus, this is squatting on a useful redirect.
