Season Color

  • Hey guys, they just released the offical box art for the season 5 DVD set. I think we should use that color for season 5. It's a cool neon green color. What does everyone think?--Nintendo_Warrior 23:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I agree, but I think it's more white than green. There's green, but it's extremely light.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  23:29, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I'd call it teal. Any ideas for HTML colours to use, now that we have the official S5 colour? --Blueeagleislander 07:50, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Are we referring to the one on DarkUFO? The flash one? I didn't think it was official yet, since he states "These are not officially confirmed." Has the boxart been confirmed by Disney or whoever produces the DVD?--Baker1000 23:20, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Misc

  • 'Recaps' is the wrong word. It should be 'reruns' or 'repeats.'
  • should bring the page back, season 5 has been confirmed, should be the same as Season 6, maybe could combine.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Snakes_on_an_escalator (talkcontribs) .

Yeah just bring it back and say Seasons 4-6 have been confirmed, yadayadayada.. scheduled to begin February 2009 lasting 16 episodes. --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 06:15, 7 May 2007 (PDT)

  • Why is Lost season 5 only going to be 16 epsiodes long when the first 3 seasons are 24, 25 episodes long? --Pacific Gilly 1992 08:31, 18 May 2007 (PDT)
  • Dont ya think its pointless to have a page that isnt going to have any major developments for the next couple years just sitting around? I think season 5/6 should be deleted, or at least made into a sort of "Future Lost Programming" page. DeGroot 18:51, 18 May 2007 (PDT)
    • I think the point is that if any information ever comes up about Season 5, there is a place to put it. {{SUBST:User:Mjuice/autosig}} 16:52, 6 April 2008 (PDT)

Update needed

It's now confirmed that Season 5 will contain 17 episodes --Hunter61 03:40, 10 May 2008 (PDT)

However, Damon and Carlton recently said that this was their intention, but was still far from being considered a signed deal. Source, possible spoilers behind link!--Nevermore 11:26, 17 May 2008 (PDT)
  • It has also been confirmed that season 6 will have 17 episodes too--Niconstant 22:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

CC and Damon said...

Ok, in some podcast (may 7? may 8? can't remember) Carlton and Damon stated that season 5 will deal a lot more with DHARMA. ¿Is that enough to mention it in a quick sentence in the article?. Semi-off-topic, I like how each season deals with a different entity: 1) Losties 2) Tailies 3) Others 4) Freighties 5) DHARMA (supposedly)--Ainulindale 12:27, 1 June 2008 (PDT)

I think that the losties on the island go back in time to the Dharma days and that is where the Dharma Booth Video takes place and Pierre Chang gets all of his knowledge from the future. That is what I think the TPTB were talking about season 5 being more about Dharma.--CharlieReyes23 10:09, 7 December 2008 (PST)

If the people on this wiki read Dark's spoilers, their heads would frickin explode from all the strange and crazy things that are going to be coming in Season 5. --The Cartographer 11:27, 7 December 2008 (PST)

Confirmed cast

Is it yet appropriate to discussed confirmed returning cast? I think it's obvious that Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Emerson, Jorge Garcia, Naveen Andrews, Yunjin Kim and Terry O'Quinn will at the very least be back for 1 episode each :) Plus the news media has reported a few times that Emilie de Ravin is skipping a year, only guesting in S5 and coming back fulltime in S6. I don't want to know if Daniel Dae Kim is coming back or not yet because that would spoil me since his was the fate left in doubt (spoilers bad!), but what about any of the other characters? --Jeff 16:44, 9 June 2008 (PDT)

According to a few interviews with Harold Perrineau (Michael) it looks like his character is good and dead and will not be returning next season.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  21:26, 9 June 2008 (PDT)

Yeah I saw a few interviews with him, he seemed angrier this time than last timee ... I doubt we'll even get a gues shot from him in S5 now. Poor Walt, haha Now that the O6's stories seem to be taking place in 2007, maybe we'll see an appropriately aged MDK back full time? After all Ben did say they ALL have to go back, right? --Jeff 18:38, 10 June 2008 (PDT)
That's my hope/thought, but I'll wait until seeing official confirmation about it.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:43, 10 June 2008 (PDT)

Hello I'm back after a few months of Lost withdrawl! If nobody else minds, I was considering keeping track of the cast and recurring guest appearance count on this talk page again this season, just like I did in Seasons 3 and 4. Hope everyone had an an enjoyable summer and fall! --Jeff 21:00, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Just preparing for tonight: I won't update the list until after the West Coast airing.

Principal cast

Likely recurring characters

Past cast/Special Guest Stars

  • Are you going to put this up on the main Season 5 page soon?
During Seasons three and four the list didn't get moved until the finale aired, and I think it was moved by an admin once the season ended. I had assumed it was going to be done the same way this year. --Jeff 15:44, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Can we not have it put up on the main page before? At least then an admin is the only person who can edit it, whereas if it stays on here it's subject to anyone changing it how they see fit...
  • Should Jin be credited for appearing in footage already used? BETTYFIZZW (Talk) 20:01, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
    • Yes ... because he was credited.... and appeared. Name on the screen as main cast, and Darlton confirmed he's still a regular. Not the first time Lost has shown the same scene in consecutive episodes (think the hatch stuff for 3 episodes straightin Season 2), nor is it the first time that a main character only appeared in flashback. --Jeff 21:14, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
  • When ths front page going to be unlocked, so details can be updated on episodes and the appearences list.
    • Front page is usually unlocked the day after the finale airs; at least that's what happened on this site in S3 and 4. --Jeff 15:16, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

January?

The page lists Season 5 as begining in February, but I'm sure I heard that it was starting in late January. I don't remember where I heard this, but I think it was even before they added the 17th hour to the 5th series.--JDMCMAMC 06:14, 11 June 2008 (PDT)

S5E01 (SPOILER REMOVED)

The Season 5 premiere episode title has been revealed by EW's Doc Jensen. {SPOILER REMOVED) --Jonathan_Fakenham 12 Aug 2008

  • I thought last season we agreed that episode titles weren't spoilers because they are so vague that they don't give anything away. (Like "The Constant" doesn't tell us what a constant is, "Meet Kevin Johnson" doesn't tell us who Kevin is, or "The Brig" doesn't tell us which brig or what happens there). Also, the name of Season 5 episode 1 is already listed elsewhere on this site so I think it's moot. --Jeff 21:07, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Promo Pictures

Does anybody know the general time that promo photos will be released for season 5? I don't remember when they came out last year. -- LostCloverfield42  Talk  15:06, 19 August 2008 (PDT)

Not quite sure. Most likely toward the end of this year, like November/December, if I had to guess. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  15:15, 19 August 2008 (PDT)
They have already been released on various websites. I think they have been taken by local bypassers. --TRUETECH 16:50, 14 September 2008 (PDT)
If you're referring to the new pictures put up on the main character articles (like Ben or Jack for example) then no, those are newly released season 4 promo pics. Season 5's will be out closer to it's premiere. BETTYFIZZW (Talk) 19:22, 14 September 2008 (PDT)

I see we have them now. It would have been so much cooler, though, if the off-island characters were neatly groomed and wearing nice clothes and stuff, and the on-island characters were still all grubby and savage. Scarecrow 21:09, 13 December 2008 (PST)

Promo Poster

There's been a promo poster released. Would that count as a spoiler or not, and if it is not, should it be added? It's pretty similar to the one for season four as well... --corvus_lizard 14:42, 19 November 2008 (PST)

The Fray promo video and new company

Contains a brief flash of the logo of this fictious company: [2]

Should we start a page on them, or would this qualify as a "spoiler" because of the promo clip?--Nevermore 02:50, 21 November 2008 (PST)

Already a page, written by two sysops. I originally locked the company name's article, but in hindsight another sysop suggested removal and I agreed. It doesn't count as a spoiler, as its been released as part of promotional material and all we know is the company name, their website, the slogan and the launch date etc. It doesn't immediately spoil anything about Season 5 and 6 (like a character name or bio would, or a scene directly taken from Season 5)like some of the other content in the promotional clip. Page for Ajira Airways is already there. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  06:38, 21 November 2008 (PST)

No Jin

Not on the poster = not in the cast. For now. --Pyramidhead 18:26, 22 November 2008 (PST)

  • He could have been demoted to recurring cast member. Rose and Bernard are still alive and part of the show, but not on any poster cover. Jin could be back-burnering it until Sun returns to the island. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Writerstix (talkcontribs) 04:00, 9 December 2008.
  • Not necessarily. Maybe it was just to keep the mystery up. --Blueeagleislander 20:45, 8 December 2008 (PST)
  • We don't even know if Jin is alive. If he is, then he probably wouldn't be on the poster to keep the mystery up probably. --TheEyeland 01:48, 14 December 2008 (PST)
  • With no promotional pictures (check out any current character, click on their picture, and then get to the Category of Season 5 Pictures) of Jin, I think he will not be coming back, unfortunately. Sorry. LOST-David 02:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Claire isn't on the poster along with Jin. However unlike Jin whose whereabouts was unknown at the end of series 4. Claire was in Jacobs cabin. Why is she not on the poster??????? Its really frustrating

  • She's not on the poster because she not in the main cast for S5. The producers said like 6 months ago that de Ravin has a holding contract during this period. She may make some cameos in S5 though as per what the Producers said.
  • aaron is not on the poster as well--Niconstant 22:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
  • The reason Aaron, Rose and Bernard are not on the poster is because they are not played by actors credited on the show as main cast. Rebecca Mader (who IS on the poster) may be listed by ABC-issued press releases as recurring, but that may just be due to legal mumbo-jumbo in her contract; the producers list her with the main cast and treat her as such, IE placement in the credits, promo shots, etc. And as for Daniel Dae Kim, I agree with Eyeland, if Jin is alive they are probably purposely holding back promo shots so as not to spoil it. You may recall that there were three versions of the Season 2 poster: One with just the Season 1 cast, one with Ana-Lucia, Mr. Eko and Libby added, and one with Shannon, Ana-Lucia and Libby deleted at the end of the season. The same thing happened with the Season 3 art, when they re-released it with Eko replaced by Juliet, Paulo and Nikki. If Jin is still alive, it's possible he will be added to the poster later in the season or on the DVD box; if Jin's dead, it'll likely stay as it is. --Jeff 21:21, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Seventeen

  • The article currently cites a planned 17 episodes, yet there is no source, and I am having trouble finding one. I did find a recent source citing seventeen HOURS, which may mean 16 episodes if a 2-hour finale is considered. There is also some confusion on whether the premiere will be 2 hours of new episode or 1 hour recap + 1 hour new episode. Could someone clarify this with some solid references? Paste the URLs here. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  12:07, 10 December 2008 (PST)
In regards to the second point, it's three hours. See an entry from DarkUFO. --Blueeagleislander 15:45, 10 December 2008 (PST)
I don't have any articles handy right now (I'm at work, shhh!), but I recall reading numerous media reports over the last 6 or so months that because of the '07 strike, 2 of the promised 48 hours of lost would get pushed into subsequent years, making 17 hours each in S5 and S6. Whether that means 17 1-hour episodes or 15 1-hours and 1 2-hour, or any other combination is something that DARLTON and ABC work out together. --Jeff 21:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Charlotte

Charlotte is on the poster, but Wikipedia says she will be a guest star rather than a regular in Season Five. Why? - Tristan0709 18:48, 12 December 2008 (PST)

Claire wasn't billed as a regular in Season 1 until "Homecoming", after her kidnapping. Yet she was still in the promo poster. My best guess is Charlotte isn't present for a few episodes during Season 5.--Baker1000 19:08, 12 December 2008 (PST)

Wikipedia doesn't have it sourced, so I wouldn't put too much faith in it until they cite something for it.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  19:28, 12 December 2008 (PST)

The part I read says ABC haven't listed her as a cast member, and it gives this source [3].--Baker1000 19:47, 12 December 2008 (PST)
I don't trust ABC-issued press releases, they've been wrong before. It could just be, as I said in another post, due to some legal clause in her contract that keeps the network from calling her REGULAR as opposed to RECURRING. As it is, the Lost producers consider her main cast -- they credit her as such and release official promo art of both the character and actress. I wouldn't read too deeply into minor technicalities as where she's listed on the press release. If the show itself and the producers lists her as main cast, that's good enough for me. --Jeff 21:26, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
This website deems Nikki and Paulo to be main characters during season three, and the same for Daniel, Charlotte and Miles in series four because they were billed as such on the actual programme despite being 'recurring roles' on ABC'S media press releases. This is just to same. --Jamie-0408 21:41, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Episode 3 Press Release

ABC sent out a press release today for Episode 3 "Jughead". Can it bee added to the episode list? --LOST-The Cartographer 21:22, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

The spoiler policy states we don't add episode titles unless they are the next to be aired. We wouldn't have the episode 2 title up if it weren't for it airing on the same night. See LP:SP#Immediately upcoming episode names.--Baker1000 23:29, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Well it looks like it was added anyway. They might also want to add today's press released episode 4, "The Little Prince". --LOST-The Cartographer 21:36, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Season Five Finale

Just thought it was worth a mention that epsidoe 5.17, the season finale of season five, will be Lost's 100th episode. As per most television programmes, they usually do something special for episode 100 and I think Lost will do the same. So will that lead to an awseome 100th-episode-season-finale cliffhanger? A new game-changer? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jamie-0408 (talkcontribs) 21:44, 17 January 2009.

  • Well it will be the last cliffhangering season finale ever so they have to make it good.--Rbfskywalker 22:30, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
  • But technically episode 14 is the 100th hour of Lost, so I think its episode 14 not 17 is the 100th.
  • Not that it matters, but the finale is actually the 99th episode, assuming we're getting 17 episodes and not 17 hours, in which case it would be the 98th.--HaloOfTheSun 02:50, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Alpert's test on young Locke

I am not experienced enough to edit the main page so I will say it here. In the episode when Alpert visits a young John Locke and quizzes him on which items are his the compass he gives Locke in this newest episode is one of the items. When a young Locke picks it, Alpert quickly ends the test and leaves because Locke had gotten the answer wrong. I hope someone can organize this correctly.

Alpert actually leaves when Locke picks the knife. But other than that, spot on.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  07:59, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Series Navigation

I'm not sure of where to put this - but thought someone might notice it here. The navigation section right at the top of all episode pages doesn't properly link to series 5. It works fine from series 4, but if you are looking at a series 1 episode (or any series except 4) then you have to go to series 4 and then series 5. I hope that this makes some sort of sense. I had a look to see if it was something that I could change myself but found that it isn't a normal part of the page. Ianrob1201 13:56, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Page still in pre-airing state

"Because You Left" and "The Lie" have aired, but the current season 5 article is still in a state where the entire season is considered "upcoming". And because of its protected state, it's not possible for someone without an admin status to do something about that.--Nevermore 17:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Better get used to this kind of thing. --Pyramidhead 09:33, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Who chooses the episode colours?

Just read what I posted in this link:

[4] --TheEyeland 13:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I believe the colours are chosen based on the colour of the DVD boxsets. S1 is silver, so we have a very light blue on LP, S2 is gold, so we have a brownish/orange colour on LP, S3 is green, so we have a light green on LP, S4 is blue, so we have a darker blue on LP. Since we have nothing to base Season 5 on, red is the only colour we don't use yet. I might be wrong though.--Baker1000 13:17, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

So far, each DVD boxset has followed the colour scheme for the promotional material released leading up to the new season, which is again a dark blue. So my suggestion would be a purple-ish hue to distinguish it from season 4.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:03, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm experimenting with various shades of red, but we try to use whatever the DVD colour is. --Blueeagleislander 06:45, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Date of "present scenes"

I figured I'd bring this up on the main season talk page as opposed to the individual episode pages so we can figure out a standard. The articles for Because You Left, The Lie and Jughead and refer to the "present tense" scenes of Ben and the Oceanic 6 taking place in 2008. However I was under the impression that they were taking place in mid-to-late 2007. I'm basing this on the date on the newspaper with the Jeremy Bentham obituary (there's a screen shot somewhere, maybe someone can help me out) and the fact that it's now for the O6 only like two or three days after Jack visits the funeral home, as seen in the sseaon 3 and 4 finales. I know for our folk left on the island, it's 2005 now (um, technically) and I know 2005 plus 3 is 2008, but it's only 2 days into 2005 for the survivors so the three years is kind of a rounding off number if you go by the Bentham obit. I wouldn't change three articles without input from the rest of the community and without absolutely being sure it was really 2007 and not 2008 in the O6 scenes so ...thoughts? Especially from mods or someone who has access to the screen shot of the Bentham obit (or maybe an interview from Darlton referencing this, because I thought I've heard them reference '07 at least once) Regards, --Jeff 05:33, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree, it's ugly. I really like the way we have it right now.--Baker1000 00:18, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Flashbacks?

Since there is a bit of awkwardness in having the episode summaries' centricities determined with the field "Flashbacks", is there a way to make a new template for season 5 episodes, the way we did with Season 4's flashforwards? I propose having the field just say "Flash:", or perhaps "Centricity:". Because what seems to determine centricities is the present day period, off-Island scenes, and that's definitely not flashback. Michael Lucero * Talk * Contributions

There is a flashforward template available, but perhaps replacing it with "Centric" would be better. --Blueeagleislander 08:31, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
  • I changed 316 and LaFleur to Flashbacks. Right now (as of 5x07 and 5x08) there are 2 "present" timelines on the show. 1977 (Sawyer, Jack) and 2008 (Locke, Caesar). The events that lead Jack to the Island (getting to Aijira, etc) are prior to Jack being on the Island, which is the "present" now. Therefor, it's a flashback. The same goes for The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham. The "present" is on the Island, with Caesar, and the event that lead them to the Island (Tunisia, Abbadon, suicide" are flashbacks. The "present" on LaFleur is the same time when Jack arrives, 3 years after getting into Dharma. Sawyer joining Dharma is the flashback, and 3 years later (Amy giving birth, Jack arriving) is the "present". It's a flashback.--Samus88 17:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

I changed it back again. There are three (subjective) "present" timelines on the Show. Jack/Kate/Hurley's present is 1977, Locke et al. are in their "present" of 2008, and Sawyer/Jin/et al. have their present (at least in this episode) as 1974, because that's where their story picks up from the last time they were seen. Depending on how the next episode is done, it may be that their present now matches up with Jack/Kate/Hurley, but for at least this episode the flashes are the ones which take place three years later.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:10, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

I think we shouldn't stick to the old Flashback and Flashforward format for Season 5 since when "present" is defined as is rather subjective. Centricity would be better? Lawliet89 14:56, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Nevermind, I got it.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  07:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Copied from Talk:316: Think of Lost as having one, main, continuous plot line. It starts with Oceanic 815 crashing, through the discovery of the caves, Boone's death, opening the hatch, the Tailies, blowing up the hatch, Jack/Kate/Sawyer being captured, escaping, the Others' raid on the beach, the freighter, the mercenaries, the Orcid. All of this is the "present" timeline. Then, when Ben turns the wheel, the present timeline splits into two timelines: On-Island and Off-Island. However both of these timelines are still following the same continuous plot line, just for two series of characters. So we get:

  • Plot line A) Ben turns the wheel, the Island starts moving through time, Charlotte dies, Locke teleports off the Island; and
  • Plot line B) Ben turns the wheel, the Oceanic 6 see the Island disappear, crash, get rescued, return to the real world, decide they need to go back, board Ajira 316 and reawaken on the Island.

These two are also, "present" plot lines. (Note: It now looks like A) and B) have merged into a single plot line, which is good because it'll be less confusing hereafter.) Anyways, my point is this: Anything that takes place outside of this present plot line is either a flashback or a flashforward. If it takes place before the current position in the plot, then it's a flashback. If it takes place after the current position in the plot, it's a flashforward. The opening of "316" takes place after the current place in the plot, and thus is a flashforward.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  05:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Producers already declared that season's 5 finale two hour episode will be named (SPOILER REMOVED) and that for broadcasting reasons they will divide it in two oficial episodes that will air one after the other the same night. So the episodes 16 and 17 should be (SPOILER REMOVED), Part 1" and "(SPOILER REMOVED), Part 2" respectively. Is there a problem typing this on the main episode name table? Because I've seen people has undone it when someone made that change. --Luisman 23:16, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

If you haven't already, read LP:SP.  Robert K S   tell me  15:47, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Grainy and stretched

Season5 Miles SomeLikeItHoth

Clear

There have been two images put up for the box on "Some Like It Hoth". Since voting in the face of a conflict is the modus operandi here, I thought I'd leave this one up to the masses. The current one is a good image according to its content, but since it's a bit grainy and very stretched, I don't think it's appropriate for the Season 5 page. The other is not as good in terms of the image's content, but is a higher quality image and is relevant because it shows Miles next to a Dharma van. Votes? Mine is for the Clear one. I agree with the clear one. The stretched pic looks very odd. --kristbg 14:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Clear: It was Miles-centric so it should just be him in the picture. He actually has his eyes closed in the stretched image. Not good.--Baker1000 16:47, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Anybody know where all the promo pics for "Dead Is Dead" and "Some Like It Hoth" are? They don't seem to have released very many, like for most episodes. I can't find them at the usual online resources. -- Graft   talk   contributions  00:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Weird, right? I was wondering why not many had shown up here. Out of curiosity, where are the usual online resources?  Robert K S   tell me  05:06, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Lost-media is the big one, where I'm sure most of the promo pics (and some screencaps) come from on here. DarkUFO's forum also has an "Exclusive access" section where they usually show up. But zilch, nada for these two episodes. -- Graft   talk   contributions  05:30, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
