P in Hades

Ok, I'm new here and to the whole wiki thing, so if I'm screwing something up I'm sure someone will just erase what I'm about to say, though friendly advice would be nice as well. Anyway, browsing around on Lostpedia I found a reference to [1] and them making an alchoholic beverage or something, but my curiosity led me to visit the website, only to be redirected to [2] (for which I found nothing when I searched). This page came up to look like you found a dead link, except that if you highlighted all the text, or viewed the source you could see the message "P still in hades . . . pomegranate seeds break strain". Based on a few other things, and the fact that I couldn't find anything vaguely along these lines when I searched made me decide to post it here. Based on Persephone's mythology it looks like a parallelism, but I'm not sure what it means by strain.--Atrellium 11:28, 18 July 2006 (PDT)

Erm well all I'll throw in is that those sites you reference are unofficial fan sites and so any content in them should be taken with a pinch of salt. Welcome to Lostpedia by the way, I know the new feeling is weird but you'll soon pick everything up --Nickb123 (Talk) 11:35, 18 July 2006 (PDT)

Rachel working for THF?

MFI Hidden Message

The hidden message

On one of her cover blogs, she mentions working for "an evil megalithic corporation" probably referring to THF right? on the Mathematical Forecasting Initiative map, theres a hidden message that reads (backwards): SHE WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE FOUNDATION. I know this was in the theories section of the article, but maybe we should put it in the intro paragragh?. --Phmall 22:27, 6 July 2006 (PDT)

Its still a theory though right now, and so by Lostpedia rules it can't go into the facts section --Nickb123 (Talk) 02:42, 7 July 2006 (PDT)
Well, we know she worked for widmore at one time. --Phmall 12:07, 13 July 2006 (PDT)

Posts Format

The transcript of the video has now been moved into Rachel Blake Post 001. I think the best way to approach it is to show the latest blog on the main article, and each time a new one is done, put the old one into an archive (like its done with Lost Experience clues). The archived blogs can then have "theories" sections and more in-depth analysis. If anyone would like to challenge this proposal then please post your better idea here first before making major changes if thats ok, cause then everyone can vote and decide etc. Cheers --Nickb123 07:43, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

Persephone Discussion

I made this page after someone posted internal links to it in the clues section, when it was non-existent. Perhaps it would be best to simply merge this into the persephone article. --Nickb123 09:13, 17 June 2006 (PDT)

  • Until it is confirmed that she is Persephone, keep it separate. --Jajasoon 14:32, 17 June 2006 (PDT)
    • It is Persephone though, in her language she says 'and "persephone" found out.....' and then she later goes on to say about 'you must be wondering why, when they are after me, I give you my real name...' and 'they probably already know who I am'. Its obviously the same gal --Nickb123 03:41, 18 June 2006 (PDT)

I agree, Nick, I think that those who say it's someone else are making a story that's already complicated unnecessarily complex. I think it's just a matter of them not being ready for us to find this clue at this time, though Speaker has again allowed comments on his site about Blake. I could be ok with the two pgs being separate for now for those who are cautious, but in my eyes, they are the same person. --PandoraX 12:19, 18 June 2006 (PDT)

Well they could always stay separate for the mo, and I think we should keep the transcript for definite separate as it would take up too much space on the Persephone page. It should definitely stay though cause that video could be pulled very quickly if the peeps realise we've found it too early!

P.S. Anyone doubting that RB and P are one in the same should just read the transcript thoroughly. I did highlight specific bits in the article but someone has reversed it --Nickb123 08:22, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

The bits you highlighted didn't prove anything at all. She talks about Persephone in the third person ergo she is probably not Persephone. --Peephole 11:05, 19 June 2006 (PDT)
She says that she researched Mittlewerk's doctoral credentials which is exactly what Persephone did. She says that we must be wondering why after doing to all the trouble to conceal herself, she reveals her face and real name - who else could it be? Also check out the new website and the hidden blog --Nickb123 12:16, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

Two persons can research the same thing. Doens't prove anything. --Peephole 13:05, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

Well, for anyone who still had doubts about P & RB being the same person, I guess this new blog proves it.  :) Can we get a merge now? --PandoraX 15:33, 19 June 2006 (PDT)
How does the blog prove it?--Peephole 16:24, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

definitly NO. i dont think they are the same persons. --Cool Man 0912 15:35, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

REALLY? WOW. LOL. I'm kind of amazed, to be honest. I think people are making this way overcomplicated. It's an ARG that's got to be understood by the average viewer... Occam's Razor (complexity of clues is different from complexity of storyline). But well, if there's still debate on it... ok, I'll let the stubborn ones hold on to this illusion... LOL. --PandoraX 15:43, 19 June 2006 (PDT)
Either way Pandora, I say we keep them separate, cause it looks like Rachel's site is gonna be a big thing to the Lost Experience. We should keep this page and maybe, like with LE clues, categorise her video posts and have transcripts for each one. Also, it looks like the Lost Experience template actually redirects to this article! --Nickb123 04:06, 20 June 2006 (PDT)
Your point's taken, Nick. :) Did want to point out for those who still doubt though, Lost Ninja (in game blogger) just confirmed Rachel is Persephone. We can still keep it separate if people prefer for Nick's reasons. --PandoraX 10:47, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

Hi I just wanted to say myself I'm pretty confident that Persephone will turn out to be rachel blake and agree that people are dramatically overcomplicating the clues and the "experience" itself. I think the biggest indicator is the fact that The actress portraying Rachel Blake has the same voice as persephone on the hanso site and on the phone lines.--Dante 11:10, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

I think the Persephone and Rachael Blake articles maybe should stay separate, just because Persephone is a notable "persona" in her own right. Jengod 11:48, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

Yup I think we'll stick with them separately, and if anyone in the future says they should be merged, they can't say we never discussed this in detail --Nickb123 11:58, 20 June 2006 (PDT)
  • So , should we call here Persephone or Rachel Blake in the new clues section? I think we should say rachel , but on the Clues/June 20 shes mentioned as Persephone...--Cool Man 0912 16:17, 20 June 2006 (PDT)
    • Good question, CoolMan. I think whatever we do, we should just try for consistency, so that the information isn't all hard to find. I say when she is mentioned in the story as Rachel (as she is recently), it should link to Rachel (and we should probably correct the June 20 clue). If she goes undercover (if this happens again) and she's refered to as Persephone, we could link her as P-. Personally, I'm still advocating the eventual merge of the two pages. I see people's points about keeping it separate for practical reasons too, but this is just one of the issues that comes up... plus, there are other lostpedia pages that have a huge amount of information (Jack, DHARMA, etc), and we can make them work out.

Post 002

It's been updated. I dumped the text into the artcile. Didn't have much time to do so cleanly - feel free to tidy it up, add images, etc. The scanned page mentions Magnus Hanso, who is also mentioned on the Blast Door map... BladeHamilton 15:27, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

I have a pic of that page if you want to insert it in...92DE8785E9.jpg

PandoraX 15:37, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

Cool, thanks for keeping the suggested format --Nickb123 01:54, 21 June 2006 (PDT)

Seperate pages for website and person?

Perhaps we should have an article about the website and an article about the person. Any ideas? --Phmall 18:20, 21 June 2006 (PDT)

I considered this but I figured the website could be summarised in the intro. I don't know to be honest, its such a new thing with much more to it than easily summarisable 'sublymonal' or 'hanso careers'. Maybe we should wait for the time being? --Nickb123 03:15, 22 June 2006 (PDT)
I think it's good the way it is... handled like DJ Dan's page. --PandoraX 08:11, 25 June 2006 (PDT)

Background Image

Something I just noticed on the Rachel Blake website, the background image (map of Europe) is remarkably similar to that of one of the previous clues. On the May 8th clue, Persephone displayed a satellite map of Europe detailing flight paths and dates of locations that Alvar Hanso has been sighted in person. Could this be a piece of corroborating evidence that Rachel is Persephone? Is it worth adding to the main article? -- BlahDeBlahblah 14:53, 23 June 2006 (PDT)

Sorry, ignore the above, I just read the bit above about Lost Ninja confirming Rachel as Persephone -- BlahDeBlahblah 15:02, 23 June 2006 (PDT)

"Real name"?

can some1 tell me the name of the actor whos playing rachel? --Cool Man 0912 17:16, 23 June 2006 (PDT)

its not like the credits are given after each video. --Phmall 21:39, 23 June 2006 (PDT)

If it helps, people have said she's done walk on roles in like CSI and stuff --Nickb123 (Talk) 04:34, 24 June 2006 (PDT)
Jamie Silberhartz is the actress' name. You're welcome. =) ZachsMind 15:32, 26 July 2006 (PDT)

Simplifying main page

I think we should perhaps just put the most recent part of Rachel's post on the 'current post' section. I know, for instance, we are technically on Post 005 but we don't need all of 005 on the main page. We could just show the latest update for example. Opinions? --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:09, 24 June 2006 (PDT)

Recent Addition

Should we rename the old post specifying Copenhagen? After all the newest post is post 001 all over again. We really should get on the dilemna! --Kericanfly 10:32, 28 June 2006 (PDT)

  • Shouldn't this be merged with Persephone?--LOCI! 16:46, 2 July 2006 (PDT)
    • I would say keep them separate cause at the moment the Persephone article just focuses on Greek mythology and Rachel's work pre-blogs. It can just be put in the intro its an alias of Rachel Blake in her time on the Hanso website, distinction I feel should be made as they are in a way different --Nickb123 (Talk) 02:16, 3 July 2006 (PDT)
    • I second craphole's comments and have actually already put the merge tags in place. I think that the persephone mythology stuff and the rachel blake stuff can both be sections under the same article. Brian 10:31, 3 July 2006 (PDT)

I think it might be a good idea to merge the two articles, making a name like 'Persephone/Rachel Blake' or something like that. We could keep most content, yet have everything in one article (we should make sure not to do much to the content of the article of Rachel Blake; as all of the information of posts and other stuff is organized. darkerzen

Rachel Blake (Persephone) would be the best way to do it. --DeviantSolution 12:39, 4 July 2006 (PDT)

Even If..!

Even if Rachel Blake is Persephone, and there's still ample reason to believe otherwise, there should still be two separate entries, linked to one another, that describe the two. Saying the two should be merged is like saying you should merge the wikipedia Clark Kent entry with Superman. ZachsMind 10:47, 3 July 2006 (PDT)

Agreed but can you please remove the link brackets from those two please lol....I have a real grievance with people doing broken links :-) --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:53, 3 July 2006 (PDT)
I agree they should be kept separate. Jengod 15:08, 10 July 2006 (PDT)
Well all P info is covered in RB now and I've done a rename on the title, as you can see. But, we can still keep the P article for the mo and should it turn out that they are separate (I doubt but) then the title can always be changed back to just RB with the move of a mouse --Nickb123 (Talk) 15:11, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

Current Post

I make a vote that we remove the 'current post' bit from the main article. Now that we're potentially adding all the Persephone stuff the aritcle's a bit long. Also adding an entire blog post, including all the updates to the main article isn't really necessary. At the very least, we should include only the very latest comment, meaning if say post 14 is updated with a little extra, only that bit should appear on the main article. Comments? --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:18, 11 July 2006 (PDT)

Seconded. The latest post information is constantly updating anyway, plus the information is kept on her blog article. It's best just to link it as the main article instead --Arcon 07:15, 19 July 2006 (PDT)
I'm gonna remove it, its too much effort every time there's a post to do this and the articles in Q --Nickb123 (Talk) 16:15, 21 July 2006 (PDT)

Rachels' story

Would it be worth writing into longhand the story of Rachel Blake so far. While her history is unknown for the most part, we are aware of her actions during the game, especially with her travels around Europe. It might be worthwhile documenting them in the article so that once the game is over, we can look back and see it writ down what transpired.--Arcon 07:23, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Well maybe we could draft it here in the talk page first, but I like the idea, giving like a narrative of her life as we know --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:29, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

I've had a go at russling something together. Feel free to edit this post btw:

Little is known about Rachel’s life before she began hacking the Hanso Foundation website under the guise of “Persephone”, though some information can be gleamed from her blogs and videos.

Rachel initially worked for the Widmore company. She later refers to them as an evil megalithic corporation, and this may in part explain why she quit the job, receiving her severance pay. It is also known that at some point in her earlier life her mother died, and this is attributed by Rachel to be why she is undertaking her mission to expose the Hanso Foundation.

We know after this time that Rachel moved to Copenhagen, under the pretence of travelling, to further her Hanso investigations. After making a number of hacks on the Hanso Foundation website about her discoveries into the disappearance of Alvar Hanso and other Foundation executives, Rachel began to publish her blogs and video clips about her findings. During this time, Rachel learnt that Hanso exec Thomas Mittelwerk was researching islands for some purpose, as well as a specially designed ship. To gain this information, Rachel had to take a number of risks, including directly confronting Mittelwerk himself, and narrowly escaping a run-in with one of Mittelwerk’s cronies.

Her research took her to Iceland, where Mittelwerk had headed following a fire at the Hanso funded “Vik Institute”. Here, Rachel learnt about the Valenzetti Equation, which was being secretly analysed in the institute by mathematicians and savants. Rachel came to the conclusion that Enzo Valenzetti, the creator of the equation, could have faked his own death in a plane accident, and may be alive in well in hiding. On a tip-off from “GidgetGirl”, Rachel moved on to Italy, finding once agai n the presence of Hanso executives. Along with seeing a mysterious boat called the “Helgus Antonius” loading Hanso Foundation cargo at a nearby harbour, Rachel received a mysterious phone call from “GidgetGirl”, instructing Miss Blake to go to Paris, France immediately.

When she arrived in Paris, Rachel went to the meeting place, but GidgetGirl never appeared. Rachel later learnt that GidgetGirl was actually Darla Taft, the mistress of Hanso executive Hugh McIntyre, and that both had died in a suspicious car accident. Whilst still reeling from this development, Rachel was attacked in her hotel room, with gunfire shooting from outside. She was rescued by an unlikely ally, the subordinate of Thomas Mittelwerk known only as the “man in black” who Rachel had previously encountered in Copenhagen. Taking her to safety, he promised to tell Rachel everything she wanted to know.

OK, my mistake... sorry....

Post-Merge Article Name Change Request

  • A cleaner alternative to Rachel Blake (Persephone) is to move the article to Rachel Blake and have a single line redirect note: Persephone redirects here. In other words we don't have character articles with aliases in parentheses, e.g. James Ford (Sawyer), Kate Austen (Joan Hart), etc. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 04:27, 19 September 2006 (PDT)

I'm kinda new here, but one thing I've noticed since I've come here is that neither Rachel, nor any of the other Lost Expeience characters have infoboxes like the survivors and flashback characters (which includes characters that aren't neccessarily flashback characters, e.g. Mathias and Henrik). I wasn't sure where to post something to suggest that infoboxes be added to all Lost Experience character articles, and I am aware of the fact that discussion here is to be about this article and this article only. So for now I will just ask this: Should an infobox be added to the Rachel Blake article? --Nahald 14:46, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

I don't think we should as, unlike main characters, we have nothing to put in LE character infoboxes other than a name and a picture. We don't know their DOB, actors for all of them etc etc. We know very little --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:53, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
Well yeah, we may not know much about them, but there are some pretty damn obscure characters from the show who do have infoboxes in their articles. Take Theresa for example: All we know about her is that she was Boone's nanny, and that she injured herself by falling down the stairs when Boone was six. We know nothing else about her outside of this. She doesn't even make an appearence, she is only referenced. But despite the fact that there is so little knowledge of her, she still has an infobox just like all the other characters in the show. So if an obscure character like Theresa can have an infobox in her article, why shouldn't Lost Experience Characters? Especially when you consider the fact that right we know more about the major characters of the Lost Experience than we do about most of the show's flashback characters. --Nahald 15:03, 20 September 2006

Rename to Rachel Blake. Aliases do not belong in the formal article title. Persephone exists in this title as a historical artifact of the fact that this article is the result of the merging of two articles, "Rachel Blake" and "Persephone". For precedence, note that (with the exception of main cast characters with official nicknames), we do not have an articles that include aliases, in other words we do not have articles for "Ben (Henry Gale)", or "Aaron (Turnip head)", or "Mandrake Wig (Manny)", (the list goes on and on). This information belongs in the article, not the title.-- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 01:53, 8 October 2006 (PDT)

Binary Code

When I went to I saw the message from Alvar Hanso and wanted to see if anything else is on the page, so I checked the source coding and saw in the third line:

I followed the link, and saw the latest entry, which displays a very long binary code. I found a Binary Translator and copied the binary code into the binary text box and pressed decode, and took the result I found in the text text box and copied it into the hex text box and pressed decode. The result I found in the text text box was:

R -- I respect your caution. Suppose it's warranted, after all you've come through. I can't remember it exactly, but I think when we were in the stairwell in Paris, you muted the mic as I said "Because he wanted me to help you, and I can't question a man who would launch the Mental Health Appeal... to save a loved one."

Say what you will about him now, his heart was once in the right place.

I don't know if it's helpful at all, or if you already know it, because we don't get the Lost Experience in South Africa :(--Philly 11:27, 6 November 2006 (PST)
