They are speaking Portuguese!!!

The guys that Penelope hired were speaking Portuguese, so they're either Brazilian or Portuguese, although the location may not be either of these. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Outride (talkcontribs) 20:25, May 24, 2006.

Time of call?

What time was she called? 2:05 AM or 3:05 AM? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Recurr (talkcontribs) 12:41, May 25, 2006.

Looks like 3:05am to me —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MRNasher (talkcontribs) 12:50, May 25, 2006.

I added an enhanced image of the clock. It looks like 3:05 to me (we're assuming AM, we don't know for sure). The hand pointing at the 2 has a slight gold tint, it's probably the alarm time. --flashburn 21:11, 31 May 2006 (PDT)

Is there something important about it being 3:05 rather than 2:05? If not, I'd suggest deleting that image from the article. --Ghtx 14:59, 11 November 2006 (PST)

3.05 could be yet another Stephen King reference, as it is a very important time in his book The TommyKnockers. It keeps cropping up in the book, and the town's clock points permanently to 3.05. Also, 3+5=8

Not "track", but "find"

She did'nt say "with enough money and effort, you can track everyone" but "with enough money and determination, you can find anyone" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Boubou33fr (talkcontribs) 07:15, May 26, 2006.

First season

Was Penny in the first season? I keep hearing about a photo of her in a previous episode. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Moodysf (talkcontribs) 15:20, May 26, 2006.

Thunderbirds?

I think the writers will slip in a Thunderbirds reference somehow, a butler named Parker, or a PEN 1 numberplate are posibilitys Joesoap

Addresses

I don't know if this belongs in the main article, but neither post code matches up with the rest of the address, though they're in the right general region. SW4 is Balham, south of the Thames and nowhere near as fancy as Kensington. Close to Brixton, too, which is one of the nastiest parts of London. Desmond's postcode seems to be for a village called Daw's Cross, about halfway between Halstead and Colchester, though north of both of them. The CO indicates that it's served by Colchester's sorting office rather than Halstead's. --Wintermute 13:12, 14 July 2006 (PDT)

I'm pretty sure it's "Denismore" not "Davismore". I downloaded it on iTunes today and paused it, so I'm fairly sure. Elakazal 18:32, 17 September 2006 (PDT)

Juliet's Twin

Does anyone else notice the similarity between Penelope Widmore and the Other, Juliet? Does this have something to do with the similarities between Henry Gale and Claire's boyfriend Thomas? Are the Others all "Bad Twins"?

  • I think they just go for a certain type when they're casting. Penelope and Juliet also both look like Sarah. --Amberjet11 09:41, 1 November 2006 (PST)
    • It has now been revealed that it was not coincidence that Juliet and Sarah look alike (Juliet was chosen to interact with Jack because of her resemblance to Sarah), so there may be something to the resemblance after all. --Paulbee 20:55, 1 November 2006 (PST)

At first I thought they were the same woman, Juliet and Penelope. Only later did I realize they were different. But the facial similarities, coincidental or purposeful, between Sarah, Juliet, and Penelope also remind me of the similarities between Tom, Kelvin, and Mike. It might just be the creators trying to mess with us, but maybe there's more to it. Maybe they are supposed to be archetypal, or maybe there are reasons for having people be the same?

> Why is it known by either Penelope or the crew of the Listening Station that the search for > Desmond will be related to magnetic disturbances?

I thought this was obvious?

Aa you might remember, Desmon said "I think i crashed your plane". The Log said "System Failure". I'm pretty sure that allowed the "beacon" on his boat to send a signal for a short time. That's why the guy at the listening station said "Did we miss it AGAIN" and he wasn't really suprised by the electromagnetic anomaly because it happened before the exact same way.

What do you think?

  • I think the question meant here was, "Why does Penelope know Desmond disappeared in the first place, and why does she know his disappearance had something to do with a magnetic disturbance?" --Amberjet11 08:40, 3 November 2006 (PST)

If Penny doesn't know about the boat why does Minkowski tell them she calls the boat but they aren't supposed to answer it. --Messeis 14:34, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

Time Line

Do we assume that every time Pen appears in the rest of the season it is part of the alternate time line? or was that just one episode?Danomite 21:07, 18 April 2007 (PDT)

  • It makes the most sense to me, but we can't assume anything at this point.--Jackdavinci 02:48, 19 April 2007 (PDT)

If Desmond met Penelope in 1995, how can they have dated for two years before Desmond met Charles Widmore in 1996?--Plasmodesmatra 18:04, 19 April 2007 (PDT)

  • Right now the earliest Desmond could have met Penny is June 1995 (he was still with Ruth when his team won a game in May and I think he was a monk for at least a month) and the latest he could have met Charles is December 1996 which is about 17 months, or nearly a year and a half. Although it didn't really look like December if I recall correctly. I guess either "2 years" is shorthand for "a bit over 1 year" or the producers were careless in informing us that Desmond met Widmore in 1996. --Jackdavinci 21:11, 19 April 2007 (PDT)

Wedding Ring?

Um...is she not wearing a wedding ring during her phone call with Desmond? --Meteor

Uh oh...

Someone just made Ben Linus' shit list. I think Desmond's got himself a new adversary to worry about, one far worse than Charles Widmore... Evil-pineapples 19:29, 25 April 2008 (PDT)

Mythology in Trivia section

I think the mythology-related entries in the trivia section are going a bit overboard. I'd suggest limiting them to a single entry:

  • In Greek mythology, Penelope is the faithful wife of Odysseus who awaits his return while he is lost at sea. She fends off 108 suitors by weaving a tapestry which she insists must be completed before she will remarry, but she unravels her progress every night. The name has come to signify a loyal, capable, and clever woman.

I think the above covers the basic mythological significance of the name. The more esoteric myths, such as Widmore being a Poseidon figure, the footrace, and Orpheus, are interesting, but as it's not at all clear that the writers are making reference to them, they should be moved to this article's theory tab.--Hylas 13:14, 28 April 2008 (PDT)

  • Shouldn't we also mention that Charles and Penelope Widmore never shared a scene together? Malachi 05:10, 4 June 2008 (PDT)

Desmond's Time Travelling Consciousness

'When Desmond was transported back in time to 1996...' - Small point but it was Desmond's 1996 consciousness travelling forward to 2004. Tom C 12:43, 30 May 2008 (PDT)

Rename

It is obvious she is now Mrs. Hume. So can we now rename her to "Penelope Widmore Hume" or something like that?--LOST-The Cartographer 18:52, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Represent her name as "Penelope Widmore (wife of Hume)" or (W/O Hume) as international passport agencies do, until it's confirmed in writing and canon.--Talkster 02:52, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
This article's name is in direct conflict with 'Charlie Hume'. Either rename this one 'Penelope Hume', or rename the other one to simply 'Charlie'. -- Xbenlinusx 05:48, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Sorry? How do we know Penny and Des got married? --Simone85 21:56, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Wedding rings. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 22:44, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
Even if they are married, that doesn't mean she changed her name. Many women keep their maiden names, and in such cases it's not uncommon for the kids to have the dad's last name. It's fine where it is for now, if someone on the show calls her Penelope Hume we can move it then. --Minderbinder 20:21, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Then Charlie Hume's article needs to be renamed, as no one has ever called him "Charlie Hume". Same with "Aaron Littleton". -- Xbenlinusx 20:38, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
A child always takes the fathers last name unless he is not around so Charlie Hume is right but with Penelope it could be Widmore, Widmore-Hume, or just Hume; remember its not the 50s anymore women dont have to take the mans last name :). --Czygan84 15:41, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
  • The press release credit her as Penelope "Penny" Widmore so Widmore should probably be kept, but a Widmore-Hume is probably the most that should be done if renamed.--Mistertrouble189 16:55, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
  • What's important is that things are referenced properly either way. So if "Hume" then there should be a note to the effect of "it is assumed she took Desmond's name, but there has been no reference to it within the show or credits" - and if "Widmore" then a note to the effect of "it's likely Penelope took Desmond's name given that they were married and her statements of estrangement from her father, but no reference to her changing her last name has appeared within the show or credits." --Jackdavinci 19:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
  • In "The Variable," the Nurse refers to Penny as "Mrs. Hume." While this isn't concrete evidence, as the nurse may have simply assumed Penny shared the same last name as her husband, I think it's worth reconsidering whether or not the article name should be changed. ArchangelRJ 02:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
  • Rename 5x14 confirmed Penny and Des were married and she was even reffered to as Ms Hume. Think about it Sun's article doesn't say Sun-Hwa Paik. --Frw22 15:26, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Anyone noticed that the nurse actually said "Ms. Hume" instead of "Mrs. Hume"? Could it be a blooper? — Iimitk  T  C  01:41, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Uh, why? It's not her nickname. --Pyramidhead 01:39, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Monaco?

Do we have definitive confirmation that Penny & Desmond are moored off Monaco (before they leave for Oxford)? There has been other speculation as to their location, including Greece & other areas in the eastern Mediterranean... --EmmaAmethyst 09:22, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

I think penny and should not be in the category of characters in flashback because it no longer appears there, appears in the central story and should in Secondary characters
