Oceanic Symbol[]

Check this out:

http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/44/448.html

It has 15 circles around the outside, rather than 16 or 18 as in the Oceanic logo, but the similarity was striking (especially since I'd only clicked on 'random symbol' once to find it!)

Also,

http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/44/449.html

Another of the symbols in group 44 - this one with 24 dots around the outside.

No claims that this is the inspiration behind the logo, of course. It's easy enough to design a logo like that without inspiration. But who knows...?

Hidden Message inside HTML of http://www.oceanic-airlines.com/

If you look at the source code for http://www.oceanic-airlines.com/ on the home page there is the following message

If anyone should find this message, please get word I'm alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they're getting worse... - under the DIV ID = Sally

And also

I survived a horrific plane crash and am stranded on an island somewhere Northeast of Australia and Southwest of Hawaii. In the event that I am never found, please forward word of my fate to my parents. - under the DIV ID = Robert

Bizarre

this isn't hidden in the source, but behind the content of the site, i copied and pasted it out and also this is mentioned on the actual article (Mikey 15:25, 16 May 2006 (PDT))

Hidden Pictures[]

If you refresh the page over and over again. You will get, so far, 3 different pictures. One already mentioned, the injured man and the Statue of Liberty. A piece of paper behind a post card that looks like an exploded view of a device like something you would see at the Patent Office. A post card that is addressed to "Walt Lloyd, 317 Charette S..., Sydney NSN 200..., Australia". The card is cut off. Another drawing, this one of a tug boat that has the letters NY at the smoke stack and the N.Y. skyline behind it. That was all in one picture. And last is is of a boarding pass for Claire Littleton.

Miscellaneous[]

Just cleaned it up a little. Timothyseanfang, 12:49 (+8 GMT) 10 May 2006

Seating Chart[]

From the home page click the green "Find" button. A seating chart will appear. Click the the numbers in order (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42)from the row numbers under the chart and you will be transfered to another site. If you click the blinking 42-F under the "Economy class subtitle seat 42F will turn green on the seating chart. The roll-over will say "Lucia, Ana 42f". Click on the green seat icon and get another Easter Egg. Now CLick on seat 4A and 23A will turn green. The rollover wil say "Sheppard, Jack 23A". Click on the green 23A seating chart icon and a bottle of Russian Vodka will dance about the screen. When the bottle disappears hit 23A again. Now 2 more seats appear, one green (23C) and one orange "Rose, 23D". Press the green (23C) icon and the "Oceanic Flight 777" at the bottom will flicker then change to "Oceanic Flight 815" then the green Pre-Board Ccheckin button will flicker. Press the Pre-board Checkin button and the seating chart will go away and will be replaced by the clickable letters "E T H A N R O M" I tried to press the letters "OTHER MAN" in order but nothing happened.

There are more Easter Eggs based on the following seat numbers: 9E, 27G, 24D, 27H, 9F, 23A, 29C and 23D. --Mr. PreKrime 19:46, 11 May 2006 (PDT)

External links[]

I'm not happy with the part that states "rumored to be run by the Lost creative team", nor the rest of the text about something being written on the site. After having looked at the HTML scource code, there is nothing to suggest that there is anything on the page. There is a commented section of the source code;

  • <--it's far from over-->

Although this does not go anyway towards proving that it is affiliated with the creative team behind the show. I'm going to remove this link from the list, unless anyone can prove that any of the official sites link to this one. In which case feel free to put it back. -- BlahDeBlahblah 05:22, 16 June 2006 (PDT)

Hanso Air (formerly Oceanic)[]

I was poking around the net and stumbled on this site while looking for anything new on Oceanic Airlines...Seems as though Hanso purchased Oceanic. --Kensol 14:24, 1 March 2007 (PST)

Aboriginal art motif on logo?[]

I added a sentence that suggests that the logo of Oceanic is very similar to common australian aboriginal art glyphs, none in particular but any googling of aboriginal art glyphs will reveal several images with similar appearance to the tail logo. --Frenkmelk 19:53, 15 June 2007 (PDT)

Oceanic Ad in ABC Series "Flash-Forward"[]

I was just watching the Web Preview of this program and couldn't help but see the ad. It's framed intentionally to draw the eye, I'm sure. The premise of the show is that all of humanity blacks out for a minute causing all kinds of death/destruction and those who survive remember visions of their future.

Here's a link to the snapshot: Oceanic Advert Screencap

The teaser is about 18min, but pretty decent. Reminds me a bit of Lost Season 4. --Guidedbyvoip 06:12, September 22, 2009 (UTC)

Kayak.com[]

I was asked to post this on the wiki by a user, who cannot due to the lockout.

Kayak OceanicAirlines

If you search on Kayak.com for one-way trips from SYN to LAX, there is a flight for Oceanic :)
