Kill Nikki

http://dco1.com/killnikki/ --Turniphead Danny 19:56, 11 February 2007 (PST)

Main or minor?

Are Nikki and Paulo main or minor characters? Because I don't know in which template we should put them. It seems that they will appear from now on in almost every episode (like Mr. Eko and Libby), and they also appear in the credits. So where should they be?  ODK Talk   Sandbox 20:30, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

I say main, because despite ABC listing them as guest stars, they are listed in the main credits and are getting a flashback this season. To me, that says main. Whereas, when Rose and Bernard appear, they always are listed with other guest stars. Jeff 21:16, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

After Expose, I'd say they were minor.--moss ryder 20:32, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

Pearl

Pearlorientation1

5 OF 6

  • How does she know that there are 6 stations? The video in "The Pearl" doesn't give any number, but she knows that.
    • One of the first shots states that this is "5 OF 6 ORIENTATION".
    • I got into a LONG SCROLL of an argument about this fact on the episode discussion page for that episode. I concurr that what Nikki CLAIMS (she says) " 'THE GUY' SAYS that there are 6 stations" when Dr. Candle / Wickmund CLEARLY DOES NOT "SAY" anything of the sort. Sure, the title card says "5 of 6" but the title card is NOT "THE GUY" and doesn't "SPEAK" out loud, hence Nikki using the term "SAYS". But, I wouldn't waste too much steam on trying to push this theory, as the majority of hardcore editors here seem to be totally against the idea that Nikki / Paulo are something more / other than what has been revealed. But, hey, I'm with you. --Frankie Viturello
    • Couldn't the title card have meant that this was the 5th part of the orientation videos?--moss ryder 20:34, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

Flight attendant

I don't recall this being revealed. More details, please. --Amberjet11 10:02, 3 November 2006 (PST)

Yeah, I don't remember that either. Who added that? I'm gonna check the transcripts...--LOST ON CRAPHOLE ISLAND!!!!!

Vs. Shannon / Boone section...

It's not a "theory". It's more of an "observation", and frankly, I don't think it holds water, and the counterpoint bullets neither support nor argue the observation. I really don't think it should even be there. I mean, why not Rose & Bernard vs. Nikki & Paulo, or Hurley & Libby, etc. etc.

-Frankie Viturello

  • Well, the original comment that someone else made was that Nikki and Paulo were similar to Shannon and Boone but "Nikki is more daring and useful." There is absolutely nothing to support that. If you want, I could rename this section as an observation, but there really isn't any comparison to the other couples you named, because they don't fall under the same archetypes. --Amberjet11 14:26, 13 November 2006 (PST)
    • Mmm, well, comparison or no, we don't even KNOW the nature of Nikki and Paulo's relationship from the context of what we've witnessed of them on screen. I know there have been podcast / web infos from the show creators about the nature of the characters, but, we KNEW Shannon and Boone were brother and sister, then step-siblings, and finally romantically linked through the narrative of the first season. We know next to nothing about N & P to date...they've had a few lines of dialouge and on screen action, and they tagged along to the pearl, but that's it...I don't see a need or a reason for a "comparison" to Shannon and Boone much less falling under an "archetype" (what archetype DO they fall under for that matter? "Attractive Twenty-Somethings stranded on an island"?)

Sawyer's surprise

OK I was shocked by Sawyer's "who the hell are you" comment to Nikki. He would have to have noticed her before, and the writers and director of Enter 77 (Cuse/Lindelof and Williams) intentionally called attention to the fact that he didn't know her! These are the show runners and the most frequent director! They wouldn't have Sawyer say that for no reason. Either they're trying to call attention to the fact that Nikki and Paulo were outsiders on the beach before (probably) or they are telegraphing that Sawyer really doesn't know her. Either way, it's important... --Pedxing 11:32, 9 March 2007 (PST)

I dont think its that important. According to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, Nikki and Paulo are "universally despised." It was likely (and how i perceived it) a humorous commentary by Sawyer reflecting how the veiwers feel (i personally said that when we first saw them). Also, there are 40+ survivers on the Island, so its not impossible to forget a face (ecspecially after all sawyers been through). Furthermore, it may have been said as a statement about Nikki and Paulos limeted authority (A sort of "Who are YOU to tell ME to that i stole that stuff?") But who knows, it could be important. -- Iron Man  Send a message  View contributions  17:03, 9 March 2007 (PST)

Nikki and Paulo's flashback episode (spoilers)

The promo pictures for Exposé confirm that Nikki and Paulo have this episode's flashbacks. However, I was wondering whether it was okay to add this or not. ShadowUltra 18:31, 12 March 2007 (PDT)

I vote that after Expose airs we change the picture of Nikki to this one ;) ShadowUltra 14:47, 19 March 2007 (PDT)

Despised? Why?

There's no mention in this page why Nikki and Paulo are allegedly "universally despised" by the show's audience. I don't despise them personally. It's just blatantly obvious that they were invented by the writers in order to kill them off. They're red shirts. Also, I don't understand why the producers of the series couldn't pull two actors they've already used in the series before, faces we'd recognize who had been in the background, up their pay for a few episodes and utilize them. Should there not be some reference to this in the Trivia section of the Nikki & Paolo pages, that they're allegedly universally despised? Perhaps another sentence or two dismissing this as Damn & Carlton attempting to create controversy where there is none? -- ZachsMind

"Who the hell's Nikki?"

That was Sawyer's best line of the entire series. JoelVanAtta 19:04, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

Rename it to what?   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   20:51, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename to Nikki Fernandez, which was her name on the Exposé script that Hurley found. He READ THE NAME ALOUD. This is a no-brainer. --CastorTroy 20:56, 28 March 2007 (PDT)
