Rename?[]

Rename: This title just doesn't seem appropriate. I don't know what would be better though - any ideas? --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:25, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

How about "Dharma Grave" or something to that effect? Willt18 06:02, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

"Mass grave" is the most appropriate title I can think of. When I saw the grave on the show, I immediately thought "mass grave," because thta's what it was. The g in grave should be lower-case.C.m. 06:31, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep: I came hear to search for "mass grave" and that's exactly what I found. If it ain't broke... --Jmast7 06:40, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

I personally think it's fine... but if you're going to change it, maybe change it to "Dharma Mass Grave," or something along those lines. - Hunter 07:12, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep: If the change is bering proposed because of sensitivity to "real world" events, keep in mind; while it is tragic that "mass graves" exist in real-life, this location in Lost IS a mass grave. People could argue that pages referencing "guns" can raise sensitivity flags as well, but I don't believe there have been calls to rename/edit those articles.

Rename: "DHARMA Mass Grave" sounds better/more specific to me. Congested 10:13, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Rename: "DHARMA Mass grave" is better. Calling it a grave gives it more respect than it deserves though. It was a hole where they threw bodies. They didn't even bother to cover it. Dharmatel4 10:28, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Rename: OPEN GRAVE cos it is a grave and it is open. The name doesn't make you think about mass murder, unless you want to.--Tomc 11:01, 10 May 2007 (PDT)tomc

Rename DHARMA mass grave is much more suitable as it only contains DHARMA members. However, if Locke does die and his body is left there it should be kept as 'mass grave' --Jazza|talk|Contributions 13:02, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep unless other mass graves are found, this title is fine. -Sloths 14:12, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep "unless other mass graves are found, this title is fine." Agreed Age 15:29, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep The name is fine as it is. There's no need to overcomplicate it. The nomination isn't explained. -- Cheers (talk) 20:11, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep: 1. It's the only mass grave 2. It's simple 3. There is a strong possibility that other people are in it (including Locke) that weren't members of DHARMA. 4. Definately not 'open grave'. I think "mass" should be part of it, and if you're looking up the location you're probably not trying to avoid thinking about what happened. - DrummerGirl, 7:00, 11 May 2007 (BST)

Keep I think mass grave is appropriate DrGiggles 23:16, 10 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep I decided I wanted to show someone at work who had also seen the episode something about this grave, but I didn't know the title of the article. What did I type in to find it... Mass grave. It makes sense. There isn't any other mass grave on the island, and it explains what it is!  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  07:11, 11 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep Thus far, there's only one mass grave on the island. --ConspiracyofDetails 09:43, 11 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep But it couldn't hurt to link to the polar bear cave, Boone Hill, and whatever happened to all the bodies burned inside the fuselage. --Amberjet11 10:07, 11 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep -At least temporarily.--Berethor222 18:56, 11 May 2007 (PDT)

Note: Ben actually calls it a "ditch" lol, might explain why the grave was never buried, as it was never dug:

BEN: This is where I came from, John. These are my people. The DHARMA Initiative. They came here seeking harmony, but they couldn't even coexist with the Island's original inhabitants. And when it became clear that one side had to go. One side had to be purged. I did what I had to do. I was one of the people that was smart enough to make sure that I didn't end up in that ditch, which makes me considerably smarter than you, John.

--Nickb123 (Talk) 10:00, 12 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep: It shouldn't be complicated - it is simple, and there is no need of adding sth until we find another mass grave. We can keep it this way till the zombie season when they all come out:D --   Steff    talk    contribs    email   14:13, 12 May 2007 (PDT)

Keep: Calling it the DHARMA Mass grave makes it sound like DHARMA was responsible for it. Also, I searched mass grave and got this, so it really shouldn't be anything else.--Dorritjo 04:29, 14 May 2007 (PDT)

I agree[]

This should be renamed to Dharma Initiative Mass Grave. It sounds right.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Akon (talkcontribs) .

Inconsistences[]

I'm not very into mass graves, dead bodies and similar, but why they didn't covered it? A similar bunch of bodies should have smelled for miles, not to say the number of animals it should have attracted; and altought the bodies look like very old, the dig seems pretty new, as it's not covered with plants and the walls are humid and sharp. Maybe it's just a production mistake? --Pongi 05:18, 13 May 2007 (PDT)

  • Probably a production mistake... The plot required locke to see the mass grave, so it had to be an open grave. It would have looked foolish if Ben started digging up the whole grave just to show the skeletons to Locke in order to distract him. As for the walls, they probably look new because the prod. couldnt be bothered to make it look perfect just for one scene FabC 06:07, 13 May 2007 (PDT)FabC
    • Could be that they never even dug it as Ben refers to it as a ditch. They might just have dumped the bodies in there, it wasn't a dug grave --Nickb123 (Talk) 04:32, 14 May 2007 (PDT)
    • earlier Quote: "Things that are buried on this island have a way of not staying buried" Locke to Paulo
      • Perhaps the Others know something we don't about the island's treatment of what is buried, and thus left the grave open intentionally!
      • If they know that the Nemesis would possess an unburied body, why wouldn't they cover them? Perhaps they only know the rules, but not why the rules are in place. At the time of the Purge, Jacob's enemy may have been contained and so they were unaware of his ability.

Add missing corpses[]

We should mention that not ALL Dharma member's corpses are in this mass grave. The missing bodies are: Roger Linus, Radzinsky and Kelvin, very likely Dr. Marvin Candle and others who haven't been at the barracks during the purge. --muellcraft 12:00, 15 May 2007 (MEZ)

    • Not to mention the bodies found in the polar bear cave. FabC 06:27, 15 May 2007 (PDT)FabC
      • We don't even know who these corpses are and if they really died at the Barracks or if they had been killed somewhere else (which seems more likely to me...).--Soul Provider 17:36, 15 May 2007 (PDT)
        • Nevertheless ARE there bodies which are NOT in this grave. Furthermore does it seem likely that these corpses are the ones from the barracks. Ben leads Locke to his "people". Who else could it be but the ones he lived with, the barracks inhabitants. --muellcraft 14:58, 15 May 2007
          • But Ben isn't really the guy who invented honesty ;)... So I don't think that this must be the corpses from the Barracks (think of the one with the gunshot wound). --Soul Provider 14:22, 16 May 2007 (PDT)
