Rename[]

  • Sawyer says her name was Mary. Change to Mary.--Berethor222 20:02, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
    • But what was the source for Brooke, then? --Hunter61 20:12, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
      • The casting list for "Outlaws" I believe. Looks like her name has been retconned. I vote Rename. Evil-pineapples 20:14, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
    • Reconsider then. This is like Kelvin Joe Inman, maybe it should be Mary Brooke Ford --Hunter61 20:18, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
    • Reaname "Mary Brooke Ford". JoserKyind 20:23, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
    • Really, we're only assuming it's Ford. We don't know her full name. Course, we didn't know Inman's name. I vote for Mary Brooke Ford. -Platypus Man | Talk 22:38, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
    • Rename- Rename to Mary Brooke Ford--Phil (talk) 23:18, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
  • Question - if it was just Brooke in the credits that's one thing. But the article claims it was in the closed captioning too which suggests it was in the dialogue. Can anyone confirm this? --Jackdavinci 00:48, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
    • I thought the DVD subtitles say "Brooke" at one point (something like Sawyer's dad saying "Open the damn door, Brooke"), I'll have to check. >: 4 8 15 16 23 42 10:11, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
      • Yep, it said "Brooke, open the door!" and then later said "[Brooke] What do you want?" or something along those lines. >: 4 8 15 16 23 42 12:04, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
        • Yes, but... do the subtitles correspond with audible dialogue? --Jackdavinci 23:41, 3 May 2007 (PDT)

We need to decide what to call this article. The most sensible option would be Mary Brooke Ford--Phil (talk) 12:05, 3 May 2007 (PDT)

  • Rename To Mary Ford. Wouldn't Sawyer be able to remember his own mother's name? Mia 09:03, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

Can we confirm that her name was Mary or was Sawyer just saying that to see if he even remembered his mother's name? Cooper did say he pulled the con on a dozen women and just lip serviced the line "Mary from Jasper, Alabama" with some nostalgia in his voice.--Lucky Day 15:48, 3 May 2007 (PDT)

  • This is bound to be mentioned on the ABC Official Podcast, so can we just wait until then before we do anything?  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  00:56, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename to "Mary Brooke Ford" until we know more --NSHS07 (talk) 14:10, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
  • I vote for Mary Brooke Ford --Magnet 23:56, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
  • Would she have been Mary Brooke Ford or Brooke Mary Ford? Libbyjones715 10:39, 5 May 2007 (PDT)
  • My vote is Rename. Brooke would be a very odd name for a woman who was born in the 1940's or 50's. If Sawyer was born around the time of Josh Holloway (1969) then the latest date she would like have been born is 1951 (giving birth to Sawyer at age 18). Now she could have been younger, but is actually more likely older. I think the article should be named Mary Ford with a short note somewhere about her being called "Brooke" in the captions. Also giving support for Mary Brooke Ford with a redirect from Mary Ford. --Topher208 16:57, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

Rename her just "Mary Ford". Gregg Nations has made an interesting comment on her name at the fuselage here. To quote Nations:

"Concerning his mother's name, we never established her name as Brooke. It wasn't in the script, and the actress was only credited as Mom. So I'm not sure where the closed captioning people would've gotten Brooke. Hold on... I'm going to pull my season one DVDs out and check them.

Oh my gosh! The closed captioning does read "Brooke." I have no idea where they got that. It wasn't in the script. I thought the dad's ADR was "Look, open this door" (which was in an earlier draft of the script because it's a reference to "The Shining" when Jack is locked in the freezer yelling at Wendy to let him out; he yells, "Look, Wendy, just open the door and I promise I won't hurt you or Danny"). Sawyer's dad was yelling and slurring his words because he was supposed to be drunk, so maybe the closed captioning people thought he was saying "Brooke" instead of "Look" and just decided to add it in. How bizarre..." -Kivipat

Rename to Mary Ford: and add the whole Brooke saga as an interesting piece of trivia to bulk out the article length --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:09, 7 May 2007 (PDT)
  • If Gregg says the name was not in the script and "Brooke" was merely an error on behalf of the closed captioning people, then why has this article not been renamed yet? This isn't a new "Kelvin Joe Inman" case. It's not even a new "Randy Burgess" case.--Nevermore 00:49, 8 May 2007 (PDT)

Why? What's wrong with Mary Brooke Ford?--Phil (talk) 12:19, 7 May 2007 (PDT)

Mom edit[]

I'm trying not to start an edit-war, be she is obviously not credited as "mom" --Hunter61 03:30, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

Then your copy of the DVD must be very special. On the normal version available to the rest of us, "mom" is exactly what she is credited as. Did you even bother to read the episode credits, or were you just pulling your statement out of nowhere? -- Cheers (talk) 09:23, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

Sawyer's photo[]

Does anyone know whether the actress who played Mary in Outlaws was also the model for the photo of James' family in the flashsideways? Thanks.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:15, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
