No polls anymore?

I noticed that the poll space is missing on the Main Page, so I wonder if Wikia is not compatible with Polldaddy or the poll is currently under construction. --Calick 21:21, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

I already talked with Avatar, from the community team about that. He told me, that he will care about that, but he has to discuss that with Wikia's developers first. --DerAndre (talk) 21:43, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
All right. --Calick 23:09, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Guys, I'm still wondering about the fate of the polls. We'd like to resume them in our Spanish Lostpedia. ¿Can you do something to fix this issue? --   Calick    talk    contributions    email   23:56, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Season/Episode Template Boxes

I'm not quite sure where to put this, so feel free to move this to the appropriate page. On the template boxes for Seasons 2, 3, and 4, the episode names are gone (if you don't know what I mean, go to any episode in those three seasons, and look at the purple box at the top of the article. I am sure this is just a consequence of switching over to Wikia, but it needs to be fixed. I can't, because I have no idea how to do so (I couldn't even find the page for those template boxes to put this comment on the right page). Thanks. LOST-David 21:52, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

  • The problem is, that there are too many ep-templates used. Long articles like Jack have the same problem. You can find more right here, but not every incorrect page is listed in this category. --DerAndre (talk) 21:57, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
  • I was going to comment about this too, since I just noticed it and was having problems editing Jack's page to correct the crossref links (I assume those are the "expensive parser function calls" being referred to). I have a possible suggestion to help remedy the situation: I also help edit the Heroes Wiki site[1]; maybe the really long pages like character profiles could summarize each section (i.e. Before the crash, Season 1, Season 2, After the Island, etc.), and add additional pages to read detailed information for each section. Here's an example of what I mean: [2] This could help reduce the amount of expensive parser function calls used, which apparently are limited to 300 per page.Dman176 05:20, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Countdown at the top is gone?

I would like to know why the contents of MediaWiki:Sitenotice no longer show at the top of the site? I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but I miss the countdowns being there. --Baker1000 20:15, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

It might be just you, as I still see it. Be careful that you didn't click "dismiss" at the top of the page, as that removes the sitenotice when you're logged in. Try logging out and see if you then see it. --Nickb123 (Talk) 20:36, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I see when logged out. How do I get it back?--Baker1000 00:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
You can't get it back on your own. One of the Admins has to edit MediaWiki:Sitenotice id and replace the current number with the next one (3 in this case). This should always be done after adding any news to the sitenotice. --DerAndre (talk) 00:12, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh damn, that's a pain. I guess I'll wait until someone does that.--Baker1000 00:15, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
I incremented the count just now, but also moved the return countdown to the next on lost section on the main page. Since we can dismiss the sitenotice on wikia it works out better there.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 00:32, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah, thank you Jabrwocky! While I'm here, is there any way I could get the Lostbook style banner to appear at the top of the site while logged in? It's there when I'm logged out but I can't see any skin in My Preferences that has it on.--Baker1000 00:38, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
I think checking the "Let Admins override my choice" box would fix that. --00:42, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, that worked. How do I change the colour of the links though? I remember reading you could choose your own colour for your links back when we had the special green ones for St. Patricks day.--Baker1000 01:02, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

S5 Cast

I think it would currently be safe to the S5, and just leave it alone for the articles on the characters where we know they're in S5. I know you guys don't believe in spoilers, but, at this point, the cast isn't even a spoiler anymore. It's common sense. And then using their S5 posters at that. To me, that's a huge load of it. So, what are your thoughts? Skeletal SLJCOAAATR Soul 15:21, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Depends on what you mean by "the cast". If you mean the press released information about Season 5 in general, which lists just the characters on the promotional items and in the overaching Season 5 press release, thats fine. If you mean cast appearing in episodes that have yet to be mentioned in press releases... no. Not at all. --Plkrtn 15:53, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
I mean, the main cast. The ones we've seen in trailers, promotional images, interviews, etc. Y'know, Jack, Kate, Miles, etc. Skeletal SLJCOAAATR Soul 00:09, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Main Page Info Boxes

Is there anyway we can change the little icons in the info boxes from the Main Page to Lost icons? I know it's a very small image which limits our choices, but we were able to make the "New to Lostpedia" box have one, mabey we could come up with something a little more related to Lost than a picture of a blue clock, I don't think this is an idea but more of a suggestion for the front page.-- SawBucks  Talk  Contribs  20:47, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

That can be done. Feel free to create one and upload. Make sure it's a 64x64 transparent *.png file. Here is an example: Image:News.png. Also, it should be a free image, not one to which ABC has a copyright.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 22:54, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Outdated AU airdates

The airdates for LOST repeats in Australia seem to be outdated (Late December) --Freekazoid 09:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

There's No Place Like Home, Enhanced?

While watching ABC tonight, I saw an ad for LOST. It advertised the season premiere, but also last year's season finale with "extra information," airing Jan. 14 (this coming Wednesday). From what they showed, it looked to be identical to the other enhanced episodes from Season 4, with the green tab at the bottom of the screen. I was wondering (a) if anyone here knew about that (b) if that's the type of thing that would be added to the TWOL section on the front page. Obviously the premiere is more important, but it's a nice present the week before the premiere. LOST-David 07:20, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

I haven't even heard about this yet, this is something we might want to advertise a little for the people who don't watch ABC and such regularly. I miss out on some of the commercials for the show (or as I call them "Spoilers") by not watching the channel all the time. I wouldn't hurt us and would help the ratings for the show a bit.-- SawBucks  Talk  Contribs  19:45, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
I added this to the next on lost section for USA.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 21:45, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Two Episodes?

I just wanted to check with anyone that knows for a fact if were having two lost episodes on the same day in the USA? On the main page it states that "Because You Left" & "The Lie" are both airing on January 21, but not in the other countries. I haven't seen any commercials because I consider them spoilers but this is something I would like to find out to be ready for.-- SawBucks  Talk  Contribs  05:48, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Season 5 Irish airdate

Season 5 will premiere in Ireland on RTÉ 2 on Sunday January 25th at 21:00, the first two episodes will be shown. Perhaps some one could update this, please. I know Sky One is also available in Ireland but more people in Ireland have access to RTÉ 2 (the national broadcaster) than do Sky. The recap episode "LOST: Destiny Calls" will be shown Saturday 24th at 18:00 (At least I assume this is a recap). Source: --Niall88 15:13, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

The recap show there is on for 1 hour 30 minutes, I don't think it's the same as the ABC recap. Thanks for the info though.--Baker1000 17:04, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Further info on this recap episode, according to the tv listings available from RTÉs presspack for Jan 24th, this will air on RTÉ 2 from 18:35 rather than 18:00, which makes more sense for a recap than an hour and a half. see:

It appears that is indeed the recap ABC are airing.--Baker1000 20:37, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure where to put this, so please move/copy, etc. this to where it should go. In the most recent email from Darlton, they discuss the upcoming premiere(s) on Wednesday. It was placed there by Admin. Its just a nice, funny way to be introduced to the new series really. In lieu of their being a new Lost in 8:15, that we placed on the front page last year, it was thought to be a nice little welcome back to the series. Plkrtn 16:29, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

More News?

I'm surprised that the new season has started and there is nothing on the front page to reflect this. I think there should be one at least every couple of days. Character Bios

I don't know how to change this, but on the bios for Daniel, Charlotte and Miles etc, can their 'on the island' section be changed to 'on the kahana'? I just thought this would be a little more specific. Kinda useless i know but still. :)

No, because we never actually see Daniel, Charlotte or Miles on the freighter. We do see Miles shortly before it sets sail in Michael's flashback, but it's hardly enough to warrant a section.--Baker1000 13:53, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah but they were on the freighter... It's more accurate because they chose to accept the freighter's mission. We don't see anything of Libby or Eko etc on the plane, yet theirs still states 'on the plane...' LAnder
Actually no it doesn't. There is a small section for Libby to explain that her reason for being in Australia is unknown, and it mentions the brief encounter with Eko in the airport. The fact still remains that their reason for being on the freighter was to go to the Island. If we see some footage of what they did before boarding the helicopter then perhaps we could have a section for it--Baker1000 18:26, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
I think you need to look again... It very clearly states it on their bio section. :| Also, surely if the freighter people's section is changed, it IS more accurate? Can't there just be a vote or something. LAnder 12:54, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

New Design

New design for the character navs = (Y)? LAnder 11:30, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

I think they're redundant, really. They're either on the character page (which already has that image in the infobox), or they're on a page that links to the character page. And really, an image of the character is unnecessary on a navbox, especially one so large. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  15:21, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm using Firefox on WindowsXP, but as Jamie pointed out, it's the same on all browsers (tested on IE6, IE7, Opera 9). Clearly someone changed the anchor color since the current one (#3CB371} isn't the old one. Check the color and see for yourself. I didn't change any settings whatsoever, so this is obviously an issue in the site's CSS, and most probably more people are affected by it. —Iimitk 11:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
  • LOL. I blogged about this, because I thought they'd gone Christmas between the green text and redlinks. If you look at the top of every page on this skin, you should see a pot of gold, and a shamrock banner behind the plane (although, I still maintain it's poo'g shamrocks instead). It's a St Paddy's theme. I assume--hope--it will be corrected after the holiday passes. ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 12:02, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

  • St Paddy's Day, aka St Patrick's Day, is "an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick (circa AD 385–461), one of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17". Lostbook isn't being worked on anymore. If you want the Wikia improvements and fun stuff then you need to use Monaco. The current version of Monaco is pretty much what Lostbook used to be. Think of it like Lostbook 2.0. To use Monaco, go to your preferences, click on the skin tab, scroll down and check "Let the admins override my skin choice. Problem with Dharma logos page

There's a problem with the DHARMA logos page. The actual article is different than the article as listed being most recent in the history tab - and it seems to be about three revisions or so behind. I get a similar problem with other articles. The article on Sayid's father was in a pre-"He's Our You" state, same for the article for Radzinsky, the article for "He's Our You" was without content and so on. I have to refresh each article to be shown the most recent version. And I'd like to point out that this can't be due to some sort of "cache problem with my browser" since I've never accessed the articles on Sayid's father or last night's episode until a few minutes ago. Irish airdate for "the Variable" precedes American airdate?

According to the Main page, "the Variable" airs April 26th in Ireland, that is 3 days before it airs in the US. Is it correct? Cos it seems weird.--Lauridsen77 13:03, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

It does seem odd. This needs checking. --   Dee4leeds  talk  contribs  all  14:30, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
