  • Based on the current trend of Ubisoft games, it is likely that the LOST videogame will be a first-person (FarCry) or third-person (Ghost Recon) shooter with exploration and puzzle-solving elements, and will use either a current or revised version of the CryENGINE. The FarCry games already have a look and atmosphere very similar to LOST, so it would only make sense for the developers to use some iteration of it. The game will most likely feature characters from the show (with accompanying voice acting from the cast), or it may focus around a different group of characters previously unseen on the show. Chances are it will feature several recognizable settings from the series, as well as new locations designed specifically for the game.
  • Just a thought, but before season 2, 2 script pages came online, one about Jack's "twin" being on the island, and the other about zombies attacking Michael and Jin. We've already seen the book "Bad Twin" come out in the "Real World", so the script page could be related to the creation of the book. Could the second "zombie" script page subsequently relate to the game? Half Life has appeared and this is also a zombie based game, to an extent. Zombie genre games are also, almost all of the time, FPS or 3rd person puzzle/action games.
  • The game may be structured simaliar to the matrix spin-off game "Enter the Matrix." This means new characters intreracting with the main cast but still having there own storyline. Enter tha matrix aslo features espically for the game movie scenes not scene in the movie linking the backstory and what you dont see together, this may be expolored in the Lost video game.

False Bloopers?[]

  • "The Flame is depicted as being within the bounds of the sonic fence, yet we know it wasn't."
The underground access tunnel leading to the Flame starts just inside the sonic fence, but the Flame itself isn't necessarily depicted as being inside of it. This isn't a clear continuity error. Gutsdozer 12:50, 3 March 2008 (PST)
  • "Although Episode 6 clearly takes place prior to the end of Season 2, checking the Flame computer will reveal that the satellite and sonar communications are already inoperative, prior to the discharge that supposedly caused this."
Who says the discharge did that? All I remember is that Mikhail says that the satellite "hasn’t functioned for years". ("Enter 77") --     c      blacxthornE      t     06:37, 4 March 2008 (PST)
  • "Desmond can be found sitting out in the jungle after fleeing the hatch, when we know he went straight to his sailboat after fleeing."
"we know"? "'straight to"? How do we know that? Did anyone see him after fleeing? --     c      blacxthornE      t     06:37, 4 March 2008 (PST)
  • Come on guys its a game, ist not supposed to be canon, therefore bloopers should not be an issue at all --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 06:46, 4 March 2008 (PST)
  • Also, due to the time loop events may have occoured differently. Mia 13:55, 8 March 2008 (PST)
  • I agree with lewsig, this game has been confirmed by the makers that it should not be considered cannon. Therefore bloopers and continuity errors are entirely irrelevant. The game should be considered an entirely different story. Squidfish 07:54, 4 April 2008 (PDT)

Ratings/Reception[]

It would be interesting to know what the Lostpedia community thought of this game.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about it. The strongest points of the game were indubitably being able to revisit the mythic locations on the Island (the Swan, The hydra, Black Rock), pushing the button, discovering the Incident Room. But besides that, it was a disappointment : the game is way too short, the characters and storyline not very compelling. Also the gameplay was too linear (a sandbox gameplay a la Grand Theft Auto, with more locations to visit would've been beyond cool!!), oh yeah, and those "fuse puzzles" that you have to do like one zillions times (I mean, WTF?!!). In conclusion, the definitive game about the Lost Universe remains to be done.

Anyway, I would like to know what other people thought of the game. (if you still care about it)--Lauridsen77 07:59, 5 May 2008 (PDT)

  • I'm a huge fan of lost, and was very, very, very disapointed by the game. What where they thinking ?! It wouldnt have been too hard to put some extra work into it to make they decided to release into a half descent game. Graphically the game was great, and i reckon they was, overal, enough environments to make it interesting (although would have been a lot better if it was less linear, like GTA as you said above - or maybe add some RPG element too, i'm thinking of fallout for example), but somehow they really underdeveloped the gameplay part. As for the secondary quests... what a joke. It's just taking pictures of a bunch of items here and there. They did introduce some trading element, but in the end all i bought was a few torches, an oil lamp and a gun. What a joke. There's more than enough to pick up in safe locations to buy more than what you actually need, i was saving up at the begining and at some point realised i was never gonna use all that stuff. Most of it is extremely easy (let's face it, a lot of the quests involve simply talking to the losties to get the info you need - and there isnt any way to fail that), while in contrast with that, i found the first encounter with the smoke monster in the dark territories incredibly frustrating. And lets not even talk about the character dialogs and so called "interaction"... they were all charicatures of themselves, i almost expected Ben to go "Mouahahahahha" in one of the cutscenes. Good thing at least they introduced a new character and a new story, or else there would have been no point at all playing it.FabC

Speculation[]

I'm too lazy to sign up for any forums, so i'm going to put my bit of speculation (not even that; it's more like wishful thinking or what i would do) here. I think that the game would be best utilized not as an alternate viewpoint of the story, but as a prequel, like the story of: The Crew of the Black Rock, Rousseau's Expedition, or The Others. Or, even better-and I know they won't do this, but it would make a pretty fun game-a Sim-style micro-management game involving the Dharma stations prior to whatever really ended it. It may also do well as a detective story, involving off-islanders trying to figure out what happened to their friends and families who were on flight 815. I just think that it would be a big mistake to have it be about background characters on the island and their actions in present-time.--NotARedHerring 11:30, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

  • true, but from a business perspective more folks are going to buy the game if it features the major characters from the show --Moo 04:15, 24 October 2006 (PDT)
  • I think it will be based on the Dharma Inititive and set in that time frame.. from my irc prediction:
    • dharma initiative time frame
    • you play as a member of the dharma initiative
    • see the baraks, flame, pearl, etc
    • get to explore the island (this was already revealed by producers)
    • run into black rock and familiar places but see it from the perspective of the 70's

Timeframe[]

Anyone have an idea on the release date or a general frame of time?   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   13:26, 22 March 2007 (PDT)

Release date?[]

I know that the article says it is due out in May, but according to IGN.com, the realease date is TBA (to be announced), but is expected sometime this year (2007). Should it be changed?

Yeah, change it. --Blueeagleislander 21:45, 11 April 2007 (PDT)

My guess is that not only will it be delayed past May but that we should really just be hoping for something by end of November or by the shopping season. congested 17:08, 12 April 2007 (PDT)

Hmm, it seems (after the last official podcast) that the game is well into development, hopefully it will come sooner (summerish) rather than later (fallish). congested 20:24, 17 April 2007 (PDT)

At [website] it says it's out on 31/08/2007 and is EUR 46.49 .

Hidden Frame[]

In the most recent Lost: The Game Trailer [here], there is a hidden frame just after the last scene with John (00:53) at the computer that shows the following:

>: Find us

>: and we will show you the way.

>:

--Sneaky_G 20:25, 26 July 2007 (CST)

Yeah, that's cool! Any more footage released?

  • In the final released game, "Find us and we will show you the way" isn't included, nor does John ever enter the Swan. Froglars 03:43, 4 March 2008 (PST)

The hero of the game is NOT Jack.[]

Going with Damon's quote: "So if you’re watching the show you’re not going to go, “Oh wait a minute, was this going on because I was playing the game? I was in this environment playing the role of this character.”" I'd suggest removing any reference pointing to the fact that Jack is the player's character in the game. I understand that we control someone new and unknown (like in the books, there were new characters introduced).--Mike West 05:50, 4 August 2007 (PDT)

But, if you watch the trailer, it appears you're Jack in a thirdperson perspective. --Blueeagleislander 20:27, 4 August 2007 (PDT)
Yeah, but we're still not sure if it's Jack or not. I wonder if they textured that guy to look like Jack or Matthew Fox (Matt has stars tattooed on the inside of his left forearm, the make-up department usually covers that up on Jack). --Mike West 13:00, 16 August 2007 (PDT)
No they don't. You can see Jack's stars many times and Isabel even comments that the "stars are cute". --Gluphokquen Gunih 04:44, 15 January 2008 (PST)

disaster?[]

I have added comment of game insider Surfer Girl from blog Surfer Girl Reviews Star Wars (yes, thats a name of blog), altough probably in wrong section, but I felt I had to write it.... I just want to rewrite it here (with the rest of article), if someone deleted it as not notable:

[2]

Kudgel informs of the latest episode of the perpetual situation comedy known as Ubisoft.

The videogame based on Lost was so terrible that when the company sent it to Sony for approval, they refused, saying "no, your game is too boring and has no gameplay, we don't want it on the Playstation 3." This videogame will beat records at being bad and will bomb really hard.

The next Splinter Cell game has been redone three times over already. Developers just can't seem to include good gameplay in it. That's part of why it got delayed. Same can be said about Rainbow Six Vegas 2. The story was abysmal and it was supposed to be a prequel to Vegas in the early stages of development. Developers then said it made no sense at all, because the first Vegas game finished with a "To Be Continued" screen. They delayed it to work on the story and add some maps.

Far Cry 2 has also been delayed because it was terrible. The game does not look like NEAR what has been shown. Even with the best PC available to the developers, the game just does not match what has been shown so far. Far Cry 2 is both bad and requires one hell of a machine (PC) to run.

Extended Trailer[]

There is an extended trailer on YouTube. Could someone upload it? It looks great, by the way. Ben, Juliet, Tom and Mikhail are all in it.

Giving images a new section? Or just removing them?[]

Looking at the page, the thumbnails of all the images and concept art makes the page extend too far unnecessarily and are pretty insignificant. I mean, we don't see a full image gallery for every episode right? Maybe the art should get their own page or just do it like an episode and only use screencaps that show things of importance that tie into what is being written about the game? Voodoo 13:55, 2 February 2008 (PST)

I agree, we don't need an entire gallery. I think as you suggested, we should only use select images to illustrate what is talked about in the article. That is the purpose of having images on a wiki, after all; for explanatory purposes, not to recreate the entire visual experience of the game. -- Graft   talk   contributions  15:22, 2 February 2008 (PST)

Achievements[]

Also, the Xbox achievements have been announced, and due to their popularity, should we give them a header and list them off? Or is it unnecessary? Voodoo 13:56, 2 February 2008 (PST)

I would, but I'm a Gamerscore addict. --Blueeagleislander 16:48, 2 February 2008 (PST)

Canon[]

The producers of the show and game have said that this is not part of canon, so how do we handle game events in the show character profiles?  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  02:28, 8 February 2008 (PST)

It could possibly be canon now with the show incorporating the time-travel scenario in play. It was possible that the producers were lying to protect the integrity of the LOST universe/storyline. User:Ghosthawk68 01:59, 22 January 2009 (EST)

It is partially canon (see here and here). -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 01:19, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Ditching trailers, adding gameplay summary[]

Now that the game is out, I think all the trailers (or all but one) should be moved to the videos page, and be replaced with a summary of game style and gameplay, with shots of the bartering system, dialogue, fuse puzzles, etc. I have screenshots of all this I can upload, but I don't want to change the whole article without checking first. Froglars 17:27, 27 February 2008 (PST)

Totally agree. The videos should be replaced with game style summary and accompanying images. -- Graft   talk   contributions  21:58, 27 February 2008 (PST)

characters and the timeline[]

The game is complciated because there are two different timelines on the Island presented:

(1) Elliot and Beady Eyes are passangers/survivors. Elliot escapes the Island at the time of the Swan implosion. Beady Eyes is killed previous to this.

(2) Elliot and Lisa are both passangers/survivors. Their departure from the Island (if any) is unknown. Beady Eyes was not on the flight.

We are left with a situation where the events of the game did and did not happen on the Island. And with two characters that are and are not on the Island. Dharmatel4 13:58, 28 February 2008 (PST)

Images[]

Do we need the cover-art in the same article three times? I'd changed one of them to a shot of Elliot, but it was reverted back to cover art. Froglars 08:12, 2 March 2008 (PST)

The ending[]

So what exactly are we thinking happened? In my mind the most logical explanation is that Elliot was thrown back in time to a point where he could save Lisa. But that theory still isn't without flaws, such as, why then did he look up from the Via Domus and see the plane crash, if he went back further than that? Or why would he save her then proceed to get on Flight 815, knowing it's fate? Possibly he'd board it if he saved Lisa, then lost his future memories and/or his future consciousness ceded to his then-present consciousness. But then why did it seem as if his perspective shifted straight from the Via Domus to the beach?

So very, very confusing. Also, if it was the discharge occuring, how was it that Locke got from the secret dock to The Swan so quickly? Unless Elliot, because he was leaving the island on the right bearing, began experiencing time more slowly. If that was the case, it would've allowed Locke to go act out the entire season 2 finale in the space of a few minutes.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stoko (talkcontribs) .

  • Its not Canon guys, it should be seen as seperate from the TV show. --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 14:12, 4 March 2008 (PST)
Its not Canon, but the game features events from the TV show that have to be figured out relative to its own (game) timeline such as the Swan implosion featuring in the ending. on one question, Locke has a bunch of spare time during "Live Together, Die Alone, Part 2". At some point during the day, he goes back to the Swan with Desmond but he is unaccounted for the rest of the time. Dharmatel4 14:28, 4 March 2008 (PST)
  • Assuming that Elliott traveled back in time and was able to change his own timeline and rescuing Lisa, then his actions would have had a cascading effect going forward. Instead of Beady Eyes being on the plane, Lisa would have been on it, and the events in the game would have never have happened. Basically, the TV timeline has replaced the game timeline and Elliott and Lisa have become part of the anonymous faces of the additional survivors. This also rectifies any continuity holes, such as Locke being at the Via Domus dock when he should have been locked in the Swan with Eko, Charlie, and Desmond. Now that Elliott is not trying to get to the boat, there was no reason for Locke to have been there.--Kestrel 06:56, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

images needed[]

It would be good to have images of the two blast door maps at the swan and the swan map on the inside of the blast door if anyone can get them. It would also be good to have an image of the Swan reactor. Dharmatel4 19:45, 4 March 2008 (PST)

We could also use screencaps of the mid-air breakup, both from the inside and from Elliott's perspective in the ending sequence, for the Mid-air breakup page.--Nevermore 02:41, 5 March 2008 (PST)

Damon's involvement[]

The Entertainment Weekly review states that Damon specifically proposed the time-loop ending. Why? If the producers are announcing L:VD's non-canonicity, why craft specific plot twists that could come to bear so heavily on the show's timeline?TheBookPolice 12:46, 5 March 2008 (PST)

It was his idea for a good twisted ending, remember he is a writer, its not supposed to tie in with the shows storylines. --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 02:53, 6 March 2008 (PST)

Bloopers and Continuity Error Proposal[]

Personally, I feel the need for this subsection very unnecessary, we have already been told that the show is not Canon to the game, and as such, anything that doesnt match the show is not a blooper. I feel that the only bloopers that should be included are in game parts that dont add up, like if somebody is in two places at the same time or something. Anything that doesnt connect properly with the show should not be listed here. Anyone agree? --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 02:58, 6 March 2008 (PST)

No actually, I don't agree. We may be aware its not canon, but I think we also have a duty on the site to point out where the game deviates from the show. It makes the fact that its not canon even clearer for me  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  03:18, 6 March 2008 (PST)
Fair point, maybe consider splitting the section in two? I find it quite misleading, like the producers made mistakes, which they didnt as they were "given creative license" to manipulate the story to make a better game with more action. Maybe split in two, one for in game Bloopers, and one for conflicts within the show, instead of calling it Bloopers (which implies mistakes were made), possibly class as "Deviations from the show" and make it clear that the game is not intended to be canonical to the show. (Sorry if im being picky :D) --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 03:21, 6 March 2008 (PST)
How about "Differences between Via Domus and Lost"?--Nevermore 10:01, 6 March 2008 (PST)
That wouldn't really work, seeing as Via Domus may not be the TV show, but it is still Lost... Surely the easiest title would simply be "creative lisence", where the main deviations from the show continuity can be listed? Also there are some things that can be considered bloopers in storyline terms, such as in Episode 6; visiting the Pearl in this episode tells us that the Flame's communications are operational (as they should be, as this takes place prior to Live Together, Die Alone), whereas visiting the Flame in the same episode reveals that communications are inoperable. The fact that the Flame's communications are down before the discharge may simply be creative lisence, but the fact that the two stations give differing reports on the Flame's status at the same time is a continuity error within the game itself.--Bohrok Awakener 16:19, 7 March 2008 (PST)
Nope, wouldn't work, I am working on blueprints for LOST's main location's (i started this with stargate sg1's command center) and everything from the beach to each of the station's you visit are a little different than the show. The swans hallways arn't the same, the location of the tents on the beach (which do look a little similar to the real tents) but at the same time are very close but have some places you can just point out details that arn't on the show.--Sawbucks 00:23, 26 November 2008 (PST)

Locations and Characters[]

I think that a locations section of the Lost: Via Domus template should be added. The Swan, Hydra, Pearl, Staff, Flame, Beach Camp, Sonar Fence, etc should all have their own pages on the Via Domus Template. I also think that Jack (Via Domus), Kate (Via Domus), Locke (Via Domus), etc should all have their own pages on the Characters template for Via Domus. --CTS 13:31, 9 March 2008 (PDT)

I disagree. Seeing as the game is non-canon, this simply makes it confusing for users to sort through all the alternate Kates, Jacks, and Lockes. There should be perhaps an article for "Characters of Via Domus" and "Locations of Via Domus," but I don't think that each character transitioned to the game should have another article. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  13:33, 9 March 2008 (PDT)

While I agree that having a Via Domus-exclusive Jack article, for example, would be pretty pointless (as they are the same characters as the ones from the show...), I see no problem with linking to appropriate show characters and locations on the Via Domus template. The game may not be canon, but regardless, those characters and locations are still in the game, and there's no point whatsoever in trying to deny that. I just don't see the harm; as long as the Via Domus information isn't included in the bulk of the character and location articles (as it is non-canon, although it should IMO be included as Trivia or in a new "X in Via Domus" subsection) then there's no confusion about what is canon or not. --Bohrok Awakener 17:48, 9 March 2008 (PDT)

Exactly what I'm saying. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  20:02, 9 March 2008 (PDT)

I'll get onto it --Blueeagleislander 03:22, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

I thought that really the only near canon things were those places you get to explore. Did not Carlton and Damon say the only reason they agreed to the game was for the exploring. They said that they wanted people to have the chance to see and explore places that we will never see or haven't appeared yet. --The Cartographer 14:38, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

You bring up a good point; the game's developers have, in several interviews, said that they had access to drawings/sets that never appeared on the show. I wonder if anything specific has ever been mentioned as to what came from these production notes/photos/sketches as opposed to what the developers used their own creative license to create. I like to think the game revealed (though it, like Find 815, is non-canon) what was "really" beyond the wall in The Swan. The Flame and Hydra, however, felt mostly like constructed game levels. --Bdjsb7 07:56, 13 March 2008 (PDT)

Can someone please clarify if Shannon is in the game? All of the behind-the-scenes videos and interviews that I have seen show that Shannon is in the game. I didn't see her. Did anyone else? --CTS 19:36, 15 March 2008 (PDT)

Nope, she isn't; she looks to be another one of the last-minute cuts, along with other promised features such as mapping the island with Sayid and hunting boar with Locke... --Bohrok Awakener 16:12, 14 March 2008 (PDT)
I think I worked out where Shannon is! When Elliott is in the hotel trying to get a photo of Lisa talking to the bodyguard, a random woman blocks his view. I think that was Shannon. --Blueeagleislander 18:05, 4 April 2008 (PDT)
I don't know if that was Shannon or not...maybe it was? --CTS 18:10, 4 April 2008 (PDT)
This is the woman Rico is divorcing. Rico wanted Elliott to get a picture of her cheating so he had a good reason for divorcing her, and this is why he gave Elliott the information in his shop. Phil (talk) 19:53, 4 April 2008 (PDT)

Find us and we will show you the way[]

I remember in the first trailer for Via Domus you see Locke and the Swan computer. The computer reads: Find us and we will show you the way. I don't remember seeing this in the game. Does anyone else? --CTS 19:36, 15 March 2008 (PDT)

No, maybe it was replaced with "We know what you did, Elliott" or whatever it says in the secret room. Also, I don't think there was any time when we saw Locke sitting at the computer (but I haven;t finished yet). --Blueeagleislander 21:51, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
Blue Eagle is right, they must have replaced it, the scenes are too similar, and there was no scene where Locke is at the computer.--Sawbucks 00:14, 26 November 2008 (PST)

Kate button pusher[]

In "Hotel Persephone" when you're in the hatch with Kate, when the countdown timer reaches zero, does Kate enter the numbers for you? --CTS 17:51, 19 March 2008 (PDT)

  • No you just die, I guess it's your responsibilty to take over her shift for letting you out of the armour room, she was to busy reading a book or something.--Sawbucks 00:10, 26 November 2008 (PST)

Lost-games-006 Does anyone remember this logo or this pic from the game?--CTS 20:42, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

I don't think that logo was in the released version of the game. Dharmatel4 21:00, 20 March 2008 (PDT)
  • No that was not in the game at all, my guess is that it came from a beta copy of demo of some kind, I've played the game several times around to get the acheivments and I would have noticed a fake fuse panel and it's not real cuz that's not what they look like at all.--Sawbucks 00:07, 26 November 2008 (PST)

Whispers[]

Did anyone else hear the whispers in the jungle in "A New Day"? If so, are there hidden messages in them? --CTS 13:39, 26 March 2008 (PDT)

  • I have heard them as well, there isn't anything in the transcripts that I know of or was able to find. But they are there for a short time in the begining of the level.--Sawbucks 00:09, 26 November 2008 (PST)

Conceptual art images[]

Is there any reason to keep these (mostly unused) images, or can I just delete them? Here -- Graft   talk   contributions  16:13, 30 March 2008 (PDT)

Some are used, but I think they should all be replaced with actual caps from the game. --Blueeagleislander 01:37, 31 March 2008 (PDT)

Credits and (voice) actors[]

  • To anyone that owns the game: Does the game list credits for the acting voices anywhere? If so, please make a subsection or a separate article such as [[Voice actors (Via Domus)]]. Also, we should list ALL game credits as well, somewhere (producers, coders, modelers, etc.). Thanks! -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  23:36, 25 November 2008 (PST)
    • You can access a huge credits list. Unfortunately my Xbox is down atm. --Blueeagleislander 23:54, 25 November 2008 (PST)
    • I'm working on the Via Domus Walkthrough right now and mabey i could throw in a list of the voice actors at the bottom of the page, it'll take a couple more weeks until the page is fully finished though I gotta work.--Sawbucks 00:05, 26 November 2008 (PST)
      • I found a credit page that I can link the walkthrough page too, but it didn't have any voice actors, still going to need this and I don't know if I can find it on here, i might just have to find it on the web, i don't have the game anymore.--Sawbucks 00:45, 26 November 2008 (PST)

Moved from Continuity Errors section on 8th Jun[]

  • 'Via Domus' is not grammatically correct translation of "the way home". It should actually read 'Via Domum' (nominative VS accusative case). As viewers of Life of Brian might already know, 'Via Domus' literally translates as "the way the house".
    • 'Via Domus' is actually correct in Latin. 'Domus' is not only the nominative case but reads the same for the genitive case too, thus 'Via Domus' translates into "the way OF home" which is a common way in Latin to mean 'the Way To Home'.
