"The real sawyer"[]

and the identity of the real Sawyer -- who conned James Ford’s parents – leading to their deaths. They're revealing that before the finale? Nice. (Isolation815 15:33, 1 May 2007 (PDT)) Actually, they already have in The Brig (unsigned)

  • I posted the above comment prior to the airing of that episode. See timestamp. (Isolation815 20:07, 13 May 2007 (PDT))
    • Actually the fact that there was a man named "Sawyer" who conned James' parents and led to their death was revealed in "Outlaws" in Season 1. "The Brig" just revealed who that was. --LOSTinDC 12:55, 17 May 2007 (PDT)

Re-write[]

If anyone wants to re-write what we have in this page now it would be great. It looks like it was copy-and-pasted from the press release... I don't think anyone cares much about this recap, but let's at least pretend. ;) (Isolation815 20:07, 13 May 2007 (PDT))

Smart[]

Of all the generic "clip and bottle recaps" they like to show around this time of year and before the season starts, this seems most interesting. Kind of a way to bring the ever-expanding narrative's stickier points into focus for those who aren't watching so obsessively close as some of us (myself included). I'll watch it for sure, even though I don't expect to find out anything I don't already know. --Cyhunter 22:32, 1 May 2007 (PDT)

  • Despite calling it "The Answers", after watching it, it's clear it's just a typical recap, they brushed over answers when the clips came to them, but they didn't make it their mission to find long lost mysteries and show where they answered them. It's just a deceiving name. I still watched though. Voodoo 20:12, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
  • They did re-confirm a few things though- like them not being in purgatory.--Chocky 20:18, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
    • I know the producers keep saying they aren't in purgatory, but I keep thinking 'Methinks they protest too much'! Belle42 20:50, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
  • Can we not have a few things as confirmed, such as the plane being pulled down by magnetism due to Desmond not pushing the button, and the seeming confirmation of the smoke monster, Kate's horse, wet Walt, and Jack's vision of his father as being one in the same? Also, they also seemed to confirm that the action of Desmond turning the key in the Swan caused a release of the electromagnetism.
I dont agree that any of those things are confirmed. Part of what they did was go over what was seen, but I don't think that what was said were final answers. They said something else in one of the podcasts this season about electromagnetism and the plane. And I think drawing a conclusion that the smoke monster explains everything is going way too far. The monster is involved somehow in all those things probably. But how we don't know. Dharmatel4 22:21, 17 May 2007 (PDT)

  • Regarding the plane crash, didn't they say something very much like "...which is definitely why the plane crashed", or am I just imagining things?--Chocky 22:37, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
  • They said in the special that Desmond failing to push the button brought down the plane. ElekJappa 22:51, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
In the April 30, 2007 podcast they hint at something more being involved. Dharmatel4 09:17, 18 May 2007 (PDT)

They also stated that they are not in purgatory. They are alive and well "somewhere in the space-time continuum." Tie that into their statement that the others had video footage of the plane crashing as it was happening and it is clear that this space-time contiuum thing is going to play a major role in the storyline. For example, it may be that the "island" is a nexus in time where timelines cross. Also, they brushed over the fact that Locke is systematically destroying everything that can be used to get off the island one by one - not by coincedence. Kainaw 05:29, 18 May 2007 (PDT)
  • Although it doesn't directly answer any questions, a statement made in this show gives a good clue that all will be revealed by the end of Lost - all the pieces of the puzzle will either be drawn together, or most people will see the bigger picture. Carlton Cuse states "I think the show is kind of a giant mosaic, and, you know, we have the present and we have the past, and there's the future and by the end of this series we'll have filled in all those tiles and you'll have not only a sense of who these characters were, who they are, but also who they're going to become. By the end, this picture will form the complete story of Lost." Magicalpath 01:31, 19 May 2007 (PDT)

Ben's News[]

The announcer made the comment that Ben got the news footage of the crash as it was happening. Of course, we know he was standing outside when it happened - but he was watching the news withing minutes of the crash. What is the best way to word this to imply that Ben somehow grabbed news footage from the future without stating the theory that the Others can somehow bend time? Kainaw 15:30, 18 May 2007 (PDT)

I think one of the headlines on one of the televisions in The Flame was something to the effect of, "The Search for Flight 815." So the reason Ben was able to see this shortly after was that after the flight was confirmed to be missing, the media was most likely alerted. That story probably didn't take long to hit the news. It also may have taken them a while to get to The Flame from The Barracks. This is just what I would think. I could be wrong. ElekJappa 16:07, 18 May 2007 (PDT)
They have walkie-talkie... Mikhail:"You know, there's a missing plane news...", Ben:"Hope it will not crash on our Island.." --Andreapasotti 13:07, 19 May 2007 (Italy)

Kyle MacLachlan!!![]

I cannot belive no one has mentioned the fact that Kyle MacLachlan was the narrator for this episode! If you're unfamilar, Kyle was the main character in the epic TV series "Twin Peaks" which (I believe) has many similar ties to LOST. Since he has no previous association with LOST, I believe his appearance in this episode may hold some clues to the future of the show via the happenings on the series "Twin Peaks". I'd welcome any comments on this subject!

  • I agree. He rules. If this means he might show up in the show's future, that would be great. I'm pretty sure that he was the narrator from the previous clip show this season as well. --Ghtx 14:41, 22 May 2007 (PDT)

"We have the present, and we have the past, and there is the future"[]

Six and a half minutes in Carlton Case says the above. Along with that the show is a giant mosaic and that they'll be filling in the tiles and by the end we'll have the 'complete picture'. This line has me wondering if it's possible that some any of the flashbacks from older episodes might actually have been flash forwards ala the finale. I think it may also indicate that we'll be seeing a lot more flash forwards (if not only flash forwards) in the coming seasons. Jsut 17:34, 24 May 2007 (PDT)

Purgatory[]

So many fans of the show are looking for such solid answers. When they give a straight answer like "its not Purgatory" they still give themselves freedom to be ambiguous about it. Even their answer in the show that it was not left it open in a tongue in cheek sort of way. The reason I mention this is because when I suggested that Naomi was hinting that they were in fact dead and my post got removed from the theories section as being "far out" it is the same clip that the producers use to bring the point up. There should be a section for allusions. In the Brig discussion it was even suggested that the topic be given some merit if only for posting purposes--Lucky Day 10:08, 26 May 2007 (PDT).

Transcript needed?[]

This recap differs from the previous ones, it includes the producers' commentary, so I think that we need a transcript of their conversation. -Kemot from Poland 05:14, 14 June 2007 (PDT)
