Rename[]
- I would agree but... Face it, by the time we reach a decision and someone gets around to changing it, we are already going to know if there is a guitar in it or not. Keep the rename bar up for now and we'll see how the episodes play out. ♥meggie ~ Talk & contribs 20:26, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

- I removed the Charlie nav template from the bottom of the page because the item did not belong to Charlie, but someone re-added it. Is there any specific reason why this template is on the page? -- Sam McPherson T C E 19:35, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's there due to the mention to Charlie in the text, and due the belief that this guitar is a substitute for Charlie, in the same way Locke is replacing Christian Shephard... --FireSoul 19:37, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Good theory, not in the show, do not re-add. Article space is not for speculation. Cheers, Robert K S (talk) 20:09, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Proxy[]
I'm not sure why the proxy idea cannot be on the page... after all, it is listed as a viable proxy on the proxy page. It seems perfectly logical that it is in fact being used as a proxy. Anyone care to explain? Because by this reasoning, the entire proxy page is purely speculation, and therefore has no canonical use and should be deleted. ♥meggie ~ Talk & contribs 20:11, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- On Wikipedia we would call this sort of thing "weasel words". "It is presumed..." Who presumes? Perhaps there is some disagreement among those who presume and those who decline to presume? It boils down to this: speculation (or "presumption") is not allowed in the article space. If you have a theory, post it to Hurley's guitar case/Theories, or discuss your theory on Talk:Hurley's guitar case/Theories. It's as simple as that--really! The only "proxy" we were told about specifically on the show was Locke for Christian Shephard. We currently have no basis for believing that Hurley understood the proxy concept or would have chosen to bring a guitar case as a proxy. It's just somebody's theory at this point. With regards to the article Proxy, I took a look at it quickly. It seems to me that it's just a plain and simple presentation of the facts, or a noting of coincidences, so I don't have a problem with that. Nowhere does it state "It is presumed that all the things and people on the right column are proxies for the things and people on the left column." Robert K S (talk) 20:18, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Taking a second look, I note the heading above the table makes an unwarranted implication. I will edit. Robert K S (talk) 20:21, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Could we then just mention the fact that Charlie, too, had a guitar aboard Flight 815? Perhaps just a little side note? And then allow people to draw their own conclusions? ♥meggie ~ Talk & contribs 20:22, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- A plain and simple noting of facts is allowed, sure. Robert K S (talk) 20:25, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- With the noting of facts, should Charlie's nav then be included or not? ♥meggie ~ Talk & contribs 20:27, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think any nav should for the most part only be on articles that are found within the nav itself. Is Hurley's guitar case on the Charlie nav? If so, given what rationale?--just that it's similar or (even given information we do not have yet) a proxy? I don't think those are good enough reasons. If we learn that the guitar case was actually Charlie's, or a guitar belonging to Charlie is inside the case, that might be a better reason for inclusion--of the article on the nav and therefore vice versa.
