Assumption or evidenced?[]
The article currently reads "It has been proven unneccessary when speaking to the dead, as Miles does not use one when speaking to the ghost of Naomi." As I recall, in the show, Miles performed a chant ritual over Naomi's body and then declared he knew the circumstances of her death. While it's reasonable to assume he communicated with her spirit--something he didn't claim to have done--there may be other explanations: for example, possibly he communicated with other spirits or forces on the Island to determine Naomi's cause of death. In any case, I think the sentence may present a viewer assumption that might not be warranted. Robert K S 16:21, 12 February 2008 (PST)

Also, the artice reads that "The device makes and spreads cold air". I'm curious how this was determined to be fact. When Miles entered the room, he put the device down, turned it on, then sat on the bed and blew on his hands as if they were cold. But, aren't haunted places always cold when a ghost is present? How was it determined that the machine was what was making the room cold, and not the presence of a spirit? I was reminded of the device that Michael J. Fox used in the Frighteners to bag the poltergeists. The machine wasn't necessary and was only for show. Perhaps this device was also for show and isn't necessary, which is why he could speak to Naomi's spirit on the island without it.--Stripes 12:12, 13 February 2008 (PST)

- Could this device be an electromagnetic generator. Pseudo-scientifically speaking, ghosts or spirits use electromagnetism to manifest. - My friend and I had a big discussion about this after its appearance in Confirmed Dead. We reached the exact same conclusion as kansasgal... The ghostbuster device creates properties similar to the electro-mag properties of the island. However, after seeing his ability to speak with Mr. Vonner without the use of any devices, electromag or otherwise (although i suppose one could postulate the microwave seen with 3:16 at the beginning of the flashback was involved, but that would be a big stretch), it would seem that the device is simply a con to ensure fools and their money are soon parted. Remember, the rule is to use the shortest unambiguous name for article titles. There are other sticks, churches, and coffins on Lost (for example, Ana Lucia's, Eko's, and Christian's, respectively), but no other ghostbuster devices. Robert K S tell me 21:55, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
