Premonition[]

Nope. There are articles for Charlie's dream, Claire's dream, Eko's dreams and Locke's dreams. Desmond's flashes need to have their own article.  ODK Talk   Sandbox 15:29, 16 February 2007 (PST)
  • Why do they need to, though? It's covered pretty well in premonitions as a brief summary already, and for more details, people can actually check the synopsis of "Flashes Before Your Eyes", too. I was pretty tempted also to nominate it for a merge, too. It's different from the dreams, because those are not always premonitions, and have visual elements which are distinct from just the flashbacks. Desmond's flashes are just his lucid flashbacks. --PandoraX 03:49, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Last one on the page...[]

The last one listed on the chart is not a "flash". Shouldn't it be removed? Anomymage 07:44, 19 February 2007 (PST)

  • Removed it. --PandoraX 03:49, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Article structure[]

Well I guess we are table-fying this one too. I removed the bulleted list, which was entirely redundant. However, the table had excess content as well-- the "premonition" images were nothing more than closeups of Desmond's face, and are not helpful for this article. The "came true" column does not apply to the first flash, which is of his past. The "came true" column is not strictly correct for flashes in which he intervened (so he believed) to change the outcome-- thus they did not come true.

Furthermore, removing that one image column leaves us with a very basic table, one that does not actually justify having a table; a bulleted list with an illustrative screencap per flash would be sufficient and much easier to edit. Unless the table is otherwise justified in the near future, we'll revert this back to the simpler bulleted list. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  17:59, 5 March 2007 (PST)

how is the re-lived day from his past a "flash"[]

I dont understand the reasoning for putting the event where Desmond re-lived his past in with the flashes. Its nothing like any of the other incidents (flashes). He did actually have a "flash" as part of that event (images on the screen), but there should be a distinction between him having a vision of the past or future (a flash) and actually being physically in the past. Well, especially after Greatest Hits aired, there's some controversy over whether he actually time travelled or not. I'm pretty sure he did, and at any rate I seem to remember Darlton confirming that he did indeed travel back in time. So I agree with you, it shouldn't be counted as a flash. Agreed... however my reason for agreeing is a bit different. I consider this to be a listing of on-island flashes, which the scenes after turning the fail-safe key are not. Having said that I suppose things are best left as they are now, until the full nature of the "flashes" is cleared up. Congested 00:04, 16 December 2007 (PST)

I have removed the events occurring in "The Cost of Living" (Desmond's "flashing" between the Kahana and Camp Millar) due to the simple fact that they did not follow the simple definition of a flash set out at the top of the article: events that Desmond is able to foresee in his mind, giving him the power to make the flashes happen or not. They represent possible futures, while his time-travelling experiences represent a definite future. --Halcohol 00:15, 15 September 2008 (PDT)

The flash that killed Charlie[]

We waited all season to see whether the second part of Demond's flash would come true given that Charlie sacrificed himself for it. But nope! Claire and Aaron were never saved together by a helicopter taking off from the Island! Robert K S (talk) 11:04, 16 June 2008 (PDT)

  • Wouldn't it have been possible / likely for Desmond to see Aaron on Sun's lap in the helicopter, assume it was Claire and present it that way to Charlie, though? --LeoChris 07:48, April 9, 2012 (UTC)
