We dont know if they actually arrived at the ? in that episode. Look at the deciphered maps. (http://www.lost4815162342.com/blastmap.htm) It says pearl over on the right hand side which in my opinion is where Locke and Eko ended up. More interestingly the terrain near CV4 has a big cliff, (line) like the one where Eko looked off. There is no such thing near the ?.

I agree. The ? on the blast map seems to have been a huge mystery. Maybe the notation Pearl ? isn't a referance to the central questionmark but of a seperate one, the one marking the presence of the Pearl. Of course this would also indicate that Radzinsky and kelvin knew about the Pearl and maybe were even in on the experiment being performed on it's operators.--Tricksterson 10:36, 1 June 2006 (PDT)

The episode Par Avion strongly suggests that the ? is the Barracks, and the dotted lines around it are the security fence. The Flame would then be the station closest to where it says "The Flame" on the map. --Hprill 05:30, 16 March 2007 (PDT)

The producers have said that the "?" is the pearl. The map doesn't really make any sense though. According to the map, the closest station is the Flame, then the ? and the Staff, and the Arrow is furthest away. From the show we know that the Staff and the Pearl are the closest, and the Arrow and the Flame are the farthest (they are both in the same vicinity as the Barracks / Tailies). Clearly either the blast door map shouldn't be taken as accurate, or there's been an error or continuity change. --Jackdavinci 12:52, 18 March 2007 (PDT)

  • I'd have to say the map is not intended to be to scale at all. An obvious flaw is that the stations are massive. Moo 01:37, 26 April 2008 (PDT)
  • I'm not talking about scale, just the relative positions. --Jackdavinci 14:18, 26 April 2008 (PDT)

Possible Tempest location?[]

After another looking over of the map, I have come to the theory that the "alleged location of the Flame" is in fact the Tempest or rather unlikely, another station. This theory is based on several factors:

1. Next to the Flame the map states "Alleged location of #4 the Flame, but unlikely due to Cerberus activity". 2. The "alleged Flame" is northwest of the camp (and west of the Swan) just like on Daniel's map. 3. Radzinsky or Kelvin weren't totally sure which station it was.

To conclude, most people have thought that the locations of the Flame and Staff needed to be switched around (Flame in place of the Staff and vis versa), and were some kind of error. But what if the person who wrote it did put the Staff in the right place, but was just wrong on which station belonged in the "alleged Flame"'s spot? Also remember the map is not to scale. It only shows the relative locations of the stations that Radzinsky/Kelvin knew of or guessed existed. I think this theory makes the most sense of this "controversy" and I hope it makes you think. --The Cartographer 17:39, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
