Horse hands

In the article:

"When she approaches the horse, we see a full-length shot of it. To the right of the picture there is a hand, it seems to be commanding the horse to stand still. Presumably this is the horse-trainer and not something central to the plot."

...Or is this a blooper? I can't recall the details, can anyone help? Does she only approach the horse once in the series as the point indicates? --Jre 06:05, 12 April 2006 (PDT)

No, the hand of the horse-trainer is only 'seen' in HighDef and only in the scene that the photograph that accompanies this article. It is a "blooper". Flora 22:37, 10 May 2006 (PDT)Flora

I'm watching the Season 2 DVD and am unable to see anything that looks like the horse trainer's hand. Was this cleaned up for the DVD release? I notice that the picture has the ABC logo, so it's clearly capped from the broadcast version. Can anyone with the S2 DVD set confirm the hand's presence or absence? --Captain Infinity (talk) 01:10, February 23, 2013 (UTC)

The Black Stallion

Very possibly a book/movie reference. You'll recall that in the movie "The Black Stallion" that Alec and the Black were shipwrecked at sea and washed up upon a desserted island. Over time Alec eventually was able to approach the stallion and later ride him. Kate is "shipwrecked" ("planewrecked" just doesn't sound right) on the island and though she has seen this horse before it is not until she is on the island (and with Sawyer as a witness) that she is able to approach the horse and pet it. If that's not a parallel, even if it was unintentional, I don't know what is. Flora 22:40, 10 May 2006 (PDT)Flora.

Revelation/Bible Reference?

In Revelation, one of the horsemen of the apocalypse rides on a black horse. Per, this horse represents desolation and scorched earth. Could this be a reference to the aftermath of the crash, which left the survivors in desolation and scorched the earth of the island? Belle42 17:41, 22 January 2007 (PST)

Podcast info - spoiler or not?

In the March 21, 2008 podcast, Damon and Carlton answered a fan question about the status of various appearances on the island with regard to whether they were real, "apparitions", incarnations of the monster or merely the figment of Hurley's imagination Dave. At one point, the two claimed that they have three boards in their offices that lost the current status of various characters as either "alive", "dead" or "undead". Allegedly, the "undead" board only contains three names: Christian Shephard, Yemi and Kate's horse. Since I don't know whether "undead" is supposed to have a specific plot significance, or whether it merely means "status uncertain - mystery in progress", I'm not sure if this qualifies as a spoiler or not.--Nevermore 05:45, 22 March 2008 (PDT)

It seemed like a joke to me. Merick 10:43, 26 March 2008 (PDT)
Seems like a joke, but it might be worth putting on the actual article just in case. I vote include it. --J-- 14:40, 31 March 2008 (PDT)
I don't find it funny, but it's also not a spoiler.-- SawBucks  Talk  Contribs  09:18, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Unanswered Question

"Is the horse indeed real or an apparition of the Island or the Monster?" is a leading question, and should be re-written. -- Roobydo  talk  contribs

merge other horses here

Rename to Black horse

Kate doesn't own the horse, so it shouldn't be a possessive title. Instead, simply a "Black horse", because that's what it is. --  Blackout0189    talk    contribs    email   14:46, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Pictogram voting support Good idea. Normally I'd argue that everyone knows it as "Kate's horse", but I think "Black horse" just as easily identifies it and makes me think of the same horse. --Celebok 19:00, September 10, 2010 (UTC)
Pictogram voting support I think this suggestion makes sense. LOST-Flash 23:32, May 2, 2011 (UTC)
Pictogram voting support The title is better. --   FedericoF    talk    contribuctions    twitter 00:40, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
Pictogram voting support - Makes sense. Not sure how we let it go this long without realising it should be renamed.--Baker1000 20:21, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
Pictogram voting support - Sure. Renaming also bypasses the little problem of their apparently not really being the same horse. But "black horse" describes both. --- Balk Of Fametalk 20:42, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
