is this a fan site or a part of the ARG? [1] If it is part of the official ARG then that would be an interesting twist that Anthony works is a board member for Widmore.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aplusjimages (talkcontribs) .

There was a lot of debate about that, but it's a fansite. Well put together though. --Beardog4314 13:30, 1 June 2006 (PDT)

Could Anthony Cooper be Zander Widmore? I just started reading Bad Twin and there seems to be alot of similarities. Zander is supposedly a conman, wealthy, selfish, "bad" just like cooper. Identical twins tend to share similar interests and Cliff Widmore likes hunting as does Anthony. Just a thought.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Patricia13 (talkcontribs) .

Another clue I found regarding a possible connection between Locke and Sawyer. In the Episode "Deus Ex Machina" Locke´s Mother says to Locke after the surgery: "He said, it has to be your idea". This seems to be like a principle in the work of a con-man, because it´s almost the same what Sawyer said to Cassidy in "The Long Con", when he teached her his job. I find that interesting, because there are several recurring sentences throughout the show.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kaluahua (talkcontribs) .

According to a deleted scene available on the Season 2 DVD, Anthony Cooper is deceased yet this page has him listed as 'Alive.' Are deleted scenes regarded as canon by Lostpedia? --Stan 07:06, 16 February 2007 (PST)

Ummm, did you not watch the actual episode? Anthony Cooper's funeral in the episode was a sham created to trick the men that he stole $700,000 from into thinking he was dead so that he could get away. --Hen-Regale 19:09, 23 February 2007 (PST)

Since he is an established con man, it is possible he is the original Sawyer, the one who conned James Ford's parents.

Why isn't possible to edit the top part of the article? Someone updated it to include info from "The Man From Talahassee" but failed to mention that we now know Anthony Cooper is from Talahassee.

Flashback to Supporting

Should he go from a flashback character to a supporting character since he is on the Island (or maybe even an Other)

At this point we do not know if this is actually Anthony Cooper or, for example, a manifestation of the smoke monster as was the case with Eko's brother in "The Cost of Living."--Puddin Tame 10:49, 22 March 2007 (PDT)

I got the feeling it was him, because of his look of shock/scared when he saw Locke (wouldn't you be scared if the man you pushed out 8 story window came back walking into a room with you strapped in a chair?), but this may be worth noting in the Anthony Cooper/Theory page.   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   10:52, 22 March 2007 (PDT)

I highly doubt that the Others have any control over the monster, so I think that this is Cooper in the flesh. He has also been confirmed to be in at least 2 more episodes this season. 5:43, 24 March 2007 (CST)

Ya, I know it was a fan site, but it was a year and a half before this character was introduced on the show. Either a fansite creator had a hot tip, or the writers get ideas for the show from fan sites and reading our speculations....—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Captain (talkcontribs) .

Is he the real Sawyer??

Maybe Cooper was not wished by Locke but by Sawyer, as Cooper may be the real Sawyer. This would tie in with many of the characters having connections off the island. He is also old enough. - H4eafy

Who erased the anagram and why? Tebor 18:31, 13 April 2007 (PDT)

Cooper is so obviously the original Sawyer, i mean Sawyer the younger is looking for a con man that destroyed his family, and Locke's father just happens to be a con man? In my mind this mystery was answerd a long time ago.

Because there was no reason to delete the anagram, I have put it back. Tebor 16:38, 14 April 2007 (PDT)

For obvious reasons, to Tom Sawyer --Hunter61 20:33, 2 May 2007 (PDT)

Why? His name isn't Tom Sawyer, it's just another one of his pseudonyms. Evil-pineapples 20:38, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
Don't Rename. It's just another alias, not his real name.--Berethor222 20:39, 2 May 2007 (PDT)

Frank Sawyer?

  • If Anthony went by Tom Sawyer then why did Hibbs say the real Sawyer went by "Frank Sawyer"? Hibbs said James took that name as his own...sounds like a continuity error. --ksofen666
No, he conned Sawyer into thinking a man named Frank Duckett, an American living in Australia, was the real Sawyer that James was hunting down. He never said anything about a "Frank Sawyer". Evil-pineapples
No. You're wrong. Hibbs said: "Turns out Frank Duckett used to be named Frank Sawyer. A name I believe you appropriated for yourself."
If he had just meant James had taken the name Sawyer he wouldn't have used Frank as a qualifier. Also James would need a first name to go with his fake last name for running his cons...there is no evidence James went around calling himself "Tom Sawyer"...Hibbs said James went by "Frank Sawyer" after the original Sawyer.

Why did he want to die?

Why does it seem like he wanted to die? At least it seems so because he provoked Sawyer a lot, eventually leading to Sawyer killing him. MiF86 15:36, 3 May 2007 (PDT)

He believed that he was already dead and in Hell, so I gathered that he just didn't care about anything anymore. He thought he might as well taunt this poor, weak, vengeance-seeking hick standing in front of him because what worse punishment could he possibly receive from him than his current scenario?  Evil-pineapples  talk  contribs

Locke's biological father?

How do we know he was Locke's biological father? We can't take his word for it; this was a man made of lies.C.m. 16:01, 3 May 2007 (PDT)

Locke hired a PI, Frainey who found Locke's father. Locke found Cooper, Cooper never found Locke. If Cooper had come forward saying he was Locke's father we might have reason to doubt but thats not the case. -Mr.Leaf 15:36, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

-- Locke hired the PI after Emily approached him. Isn't it likely that the information about Cooper being the father was planted by Emily and Cooper as part of the scheme to get Locke's kidney? And do we really know if Cooper had kidney disease, or was the scam just to get the kidney and he sold it on the black market or something? --Lost Keeps Me Up At Night 11:41, 12 May 2008 (PDT)

Okay that's too much,.. he needed the kidney, i think that's obvious, black market sounds a little too odd. But anyway, I do too think we can doubt he's being Locke's real father.. after this obviously not showing Anthony in "Cabin Fever" there's is a chance someone else might be Locke's father. Anthony needed a fitting kidney though, and the best fit has probably the own son. My thoughts so far... Jared 14:25, 28 May 2008 (PDT)

How get from small room to Brig?

How did Locke get him off the pillar and into the brig by himself? Locke must be pretty strong to carry corpse through jungle. --Ptosis 22:56, 5 May 2007 (PDT)

Perhaps he was knocked unconscious?--Baker1000 15:35, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

Relating to Trivia Section

It says in the trivia section of the page that he is the second person that Sawyer has killed on the ISLAND. Who is the first? Jack killed the Marshall; frank Duckett was killed off the island and the polar bear is not a person.

He shot an Other during the Season 2 Finale. See Crimes committed by Sawyer--Stan 06:00, 7 May 2007 (PDT)

Change in accent?

I noticed that in The Brig when Cooper is talking to Sawyer, he suddenly starts to use a different accent. I'm no expert on origin's of accents so I can't really explain it, but I don't think he had the same accent in previous episodes. Anyone else notice this? Is it a continuity error?--Baker1000 07:08, 9 May 2007 (PDT)

  • I noticed this and thought it strange as well. Smeagol 08:00, 12 May 2007 (PDT)

Why Sawyer Killed Him

"He seduced James Ford's mother, Mary Ford and then used her in order to obtain money from her and her husband. This prompted James to take Sawyer's name, and hunt him down."

I would say that perhaps the murder and suicide prompted James to hunt him down, not the actual fact hat his parents were conned. --Xbenlinusx 23:29, 22 February 2008 (PST)

Roadhouse Connection

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else, and was not sure if it would be put in trivia or if it even belongs on the page. I am just now watching the movie Roadhouse for the first time in many many years, and I noticed that the actor who plays Cooper owns the Double Deuce club in Jasper.

Anthony Cooper duped Sawyer's mom in Jasper. I don't know if that is a nod to the movie role or if it's just coincidence, but I thought it interesting enough to mention.

On a MUCH more far fetched note, Anthony Cooper may be the same character from Roadhouse operating under an assumed name.

Anthony Cooper's Age

Locke's mother, Emily, was approximately 16 at the time of Locke's birth- Emily's boyfriend was 'twice his age' according to Cabin Fever. If the boyfriend was Anthony Cooper, he'd be just about 80 years old at the time of the 815 crash. That seem right? Prefect42 21:11, 8 May 2008 (PDT)

--Mikhail Linus 03:43, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

48+32=80 true, but she's likely exaggerating. But he's likely at least 20. Even if he was 16 too then he'd now be 64. --Jackdavinci 00:38, 9 May 2008 (PDT)

--There is no way Anthony Cooper is(was) 80 years old, I say he was not old enough to be referred to as "twice her age" and therefore is unlikely Locke's real father. --Lost Keeps Me Up At Night 11:37, 12 May 2008 (PDT)

He could've been appriximately 23ish while she was 15, so her mum was exaggerating. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DannyFelvy (talkcontribs) 2008-05-13T15:16:21.

Removing afterlife

Unlike the main characters, we have no evidence that flash sideways Cooper was the real Cooper post-death. The afterlife was a world the main characters created together so they could remember their time together and move on. Other figures were not necessarily real. Cooper's FS accident needn't be any more real than Christian's FS death, which didn't happen. Dying and appearing in a catatonic body certainly seems just to fans, but it doesn't fulfill any of the afterlife's stated purposes. We could try reaching consensus on the Anthony Cooper (flash-sideways timeline) page. --- Balk Of Fametalk 02:19, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to agree with this, but there's really no way of knowing the meaning of these finer points of the flash-sideways reality. Who's to say Anthony Cooper's disability in the flash-sideways timeline wasn't a sort of punishment for his misdeeds in the real world? Since he was disabled, he could never "wake up" to the others and get to the other side. In essence he's just as bad off as Michael. Maybe this is just one more reason why we ought to keep the flash-sideways characters as separate articles.  Robert K S   tell me  03:03, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
Your argument basically says there is a good chance that the "FS"Cooper is the Cooper we saw and he is being punished, then you say that is the reason the articles should be seperate, isnt it the opposite, If its the same guy then one article is all thats needed, so far ive seen no arguments that make sense regarding splitting the pgs. -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  04:25, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Alan Seward?

Watching "The Man from Tallahassee" right now. That sounded a lot like "Adam" Seward - is one certain it's "Alan"? Eschiss1 (talk) 01:13, October 30, 2012 (UTC)

It was Adam Seward, was it not? I'm not sure why the article says Alan. The episode article and transcript says Adam, the Peter Talbot article states Adam. Yet someone changed it back in 2010 and we didn't pick up on it until now. There was also an anagram of Adam Seward/Anthony Cooper that was "Sawyer, a con man, a poor dad" right? Although I can't see it noted on the episode article, nor did the user who changed this article remove it from anywhere. Maybe we never had it on there, though I don't know why we wouldn't. I've changed this article back anyway.--Baker1000 (talk) 20:59, October 30, 2012 (UTC)

His real name

I don't think "Anthony Cooper" was his real name. He tells Sawyer his con names, which includes "Anthony Cooper". --Orcward silence (talk) 03:17, November 13, 2013 (UTC)
