Rename

Since this dagger was around wayyy before Dogen it should be renamed. It appears to have originally belong to MIB and that it has the power to kill both Jacob and the MIB but Id say we just call it Dagger. -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  03:37, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

  • Pictogram voting support, but just 'dagger' is too generic / undescriptive. I'd say 'Man in Black's dagger' or 'pugio', 'conflict dagger' or 'ritual dagger'. --LOST-Hunter61 04:53, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Agree with "Man in Black's dagger", since it initially belonged to him. --Kriton Tog 14:16, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Maybe call it something unanimous along the lines of 'conflict dagger'. Maybe 'island leadership dagger" or something. --Sciencevsfaith 15:04, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Agree with renaming (delete Dogen), but it's uncleear if it really belongs to MiB or Jacob. Due its (alleged) supernatural powers (to destroy entities such as Jacob or Man in Black), I agree with Ritual dagger. --erikire 07:47, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
    • 'Ancient dagger', maybe? --LOST-Hunter61 19:49, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
    • Pictogram voting support Agree to "ritual" or "ancient" dagger. Ownership of the dagger is still unclear, but Dogen definitely wasn't the first to have it. --Sophia108 04:09, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Rename to something like "Man in Black's dagger" or "Ancient dagger"--Baker1000 19:51, March 24, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Do we have multiple daggers? Maybe just "Dagger" would suffice... Hawkdeath 13:05, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting supportI think we should go with ancient dagger, because we don't know who's it is, dagger is too short and conflict dagger doesn't flow well.-R155a 21:24, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Ancient dagger. It seems this dagger has been passed on to a variety of people, so just to call it MIB's dagger isn't necessary true. Phobia27 22:00, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Ancient dagger sounds good to me. -- COMPOSSIBLE  Talk  Contribs  05:42, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support I like ancient dagger. RevanFan 06:03, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting support Ancient dagger is fine with me. Mysterious Dagger or something of the like would also work. Definitely NOT Dogen's dagger.--Beema|talk|contributions 00:45, March 30, 2010 (UTC)

Consensus seems to be reached for 'Ancient dagger', please rename --LOST-Hunter61 11:07, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Moved.  Robert K S   tell me  13:09, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Real World

I own this thing. I finally confirmed it tonight during the Richard episode. If anyone's interested, the top picture on the scabbard is a Lion's head, the lower picture is what appears to be a wolf standing and suckling something undiscernable. I'm assuming it's a depiction of Romulus and Remus. My girlfriend says she found it at a flea market for, like, four dollars. So, I'm assuming it's widely available from Museum Replicas or some othersuch company. Well, if anyone wants better pictures or anything, let me know. Or, if you want a supernatural being offed. --Haven13 04:48, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Yep, it's origin is distinctly Roman. Perhaps hinting at how long Jacob/MIB have been on the island or where they came from. --whit09

Speculation

It is speculation to assume that the dagger had no effect because MIB said "hello Sayid". The don't let him speak line means do not listen to his offer or temptaion, it does not literally mean don't let him speak. D Toccs 23:49, March 26, 2010 (UTC)````

  • Actually they were pretty clear in both "Sundown" and "Ab Aeterno" that being spoken to by either MiB or Jacob will result in you incapability to kill them. Orhan94 19:29, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
  • Then what about The Incident? We don't know for sure whether or not the warnings were literal, and there's evidence to support either side. Cerbo 22:20, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

Same Dagger?
