medianet is making me mad. For the second time since I started this page they have changed the format in which they name and link to press releases. Because of this none of our external links to the press releases work anymore. Grrrr -Mr.Leaf 19:23, 20 December 2007 (PST)

That sucks.--Mc peko 22:08, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

Linking to unaired episode press releases[]

I understand that, due to the changes in the spoiler policy, we can't post any information about upcoming episodes, including titles, but would it be allowable to post links to the unaired episode press releases under the heading "Episode 10" or whatever and change the title afterwards? If so, the press releases for episodes 4x09, 4x10 and (I think) 4x11 are up. Jimbo the tubby 19:29, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

I see no reason why not.--Mc peko 22:07, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

You need to review the new spoilers policy. The policy was re-written such that nothing can appear in Lostpedia referencing anything beyond the next episode outside the three spoilers articles. The policy was written with absolutely no exceptions. Dharmatel4 00:52, 16 April 2008 (PDT)

I'm not advocating writing anything in Lostpedia beyond the next episode, I'm advocating that we link to the press releases from ABC for the episodes. If people don't want to read them, then they shouldn't. The reasons given for the spoiler policy (keeping in line with ABC/producer's wishes about spoilers, avoiding spoilers appearing in "random page" or "recent changes", etc) don't apply. For those of us who do wish to read the press releases, but don't want to risk seeing actual spoilers (the stuff the producer's didn't release), these links should be somewhere other than the spoiler page. And considering that they're not spoilers, only links to officially released material (not even the content of that material), I don't think that the spoiler policy applies. (Also, if we're allowed to reference the next episode, shouldn't 4x09 be listed?) Jimbo the tubby 09:11, 16 April 2008 (PDT)

Personally I agree completely with Tubby. I think this spoiler-policy thing has gone too far. However policy is policy.--Mc peko 02:17, 17 April 2008 (PDT)

Updating the releases[]

Periodically, ABC Medianet takes down their old press releases, thus the links to them were no longer working. I e-mailed them and got copies of all the episode press releases. I'm slowly in the process of putting them up, but because they're in .doc format, I can't upload them directly. I just wanted to let people know that this page is currently a work in progress and that's why it's kinda messy right now. Please don't revert it. Nice work. It would be great if some more file formats were allowed on Lostpedia. Guess you'll need to put them on another server.--Mc peko 03:32, 13 September 2008 (PDT)

Done. Finally. Yay!  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  21:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I noticed these were all under "Rebroadcast releases" I've been doing searching and I found what is called the "original" releases. If anyone is interested, of course...

Maintaining Wiki standards[]

Some general comments about these articles-

  • When adding the individual episode pages, ensure the pages retain the correct episode name.
    • Example: The page for "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" is simply title "All the Best Cowboys"
  • When adding the individual pages, you must make something on that page link to something else in the Wiki, otherwise you have a dead-end article, which kinda defeats the purpose of a Wiki.
    • As a solution, I noticed every episode page started with, " "Episode Name" - Text ". I replaced all of the static episode names w/ the ep|#x## tags so they are hyperlinked to the actual episode article and no longer dead-end pages.

Thanks. My bad on those two issues.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  23:33, 14 September 2008 (PDT)

Will be adding these all in - mostly missing from season 1 and 2 at the moment.
