Shaun Toub is a Persian Jewish actor who portrayed Sami in the season three episode "Enter 77".

Background[]

Toub was born in Tehran, Iran, but soon after moved with his family to Manchester, England, shortly before 1979. After moving to various places, Toub moved to New Hampshire to finish his high school career, after which he attended college in Massachusetts and at USC. He went into Real Estate, but was soon found by a talent agent who signed Toub.

Toub's first acting role came with the television series Hunter, on which he guest starred for two episodes. He appeared in several films and television series after that, including Hot Shots, Part Deux!, JAG, Bad Boys, ER, Seinfeld, and The Sopranos. He also appeared in the Academy Award-winning Crash in 2004. After appearing on Lost in 2007, Toub went on to star in The Kite Runner, based off the award-winning novel, as well as starring as Dr. Yinsen in the 2008 superhero film Iron Man, which he appeared alongside Faran Tahir, who portrayed Bakir on Lost. Toub most recently appeared in the pilot episode for The Mentalist. He also played as one of the main cast, Uncle Iroh in The Last Airbender that aired on Juli 1, 2010.
