  • Found in the cockpit by Jack, Kate, and Charlie
  • Asked how many survivors there were. Jack responds by telling him "at least 48".
  • Became concerned when he found out that it had been sixteen hours since the crash and no one had come yet
  • Says, "Six hours in, our radio went out; no one could see us. We turned back to land in Fiji. By the time we hit turbulence, we were a thousand miles off course. They're looking for us in the wrong place."
  • Showed Jack and Kate where the transceiver was
  • Crawled out of the front cockpit windows to look around, sounds of The Monster approached, and he was "ripped" out from the plane. Moments later, what appeared to be blood splashed across the front of the plane
  • Found mangled and in a tree later on in the episode by Kate and Charlie
  • Had coffee with Claire before the flight. Promised her a "smooth ride". (depicted in flashback scene in extras on Disc 7 of Season 1 DVD collection)
  • (In same deleted flashback in extras on Disc 7 of Season 1) Told Claire a story about his mother breaking up with her boyfriend after a tarot card reader told her she'd find a new love. Shortly afterwards, his mother's ex-boyfriend sold his business for $39 million dollars. The ex-boyfriend's name was Bernard. Some speculate that he may have been Rose's Bernard.
  • It's interesting to note that the pilot died in the very first episode. Thus, the pilot was killed in the pilot.
