The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is the labor union representing film actors in the United States.

Lost's Grass Skirt Productions is a SAG signatory, rather than AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists). Therefore, the union performers on Lost, from principals, day performers, most background extras, stand-ins, and stuntpersons, are members of SAG. Brenda Ching is the Hawaii region's executive director.

In April 2006, SAG reached an agreement with Touchstone Television regarding mobisodes for Lost, an agreement to which the cast of Lost lent their support. Lost is one of the only shows that has followed the DGA, WGA, and SAG's wishes with regards to New Media in the mobisodes. [1]

William Mapother, who plays Ethan Rom, is currently serving on the SAG's 2007-2008 National Board.[2]

2008 contract expiration[]

The contracts of the SAG and the DGA (Directors Guild of America) with movie and television producers in the United States, as represented by Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), expire on June 30th, 2008. If a settlement is not reached before then, an actors' strike could take place.
