- In 1987, Barry appeared in the film Three for the Road, which bears a similar title to an episode of Lost.
- Played a character named Hurley in the 1986 film "Out of Bounds"
- Played Senator Richard Matheson, a reoccurring character in The X Files from 1994 to 1999, a character who's primary role was to appear to be a benevolent father figure, secretly assisting with the lead Character's investigations into conspiracy, but he eventually turned out to be deeply involved in the conspiracy himself.
