Podcast Summary • Podcast Transcript

A transcript is a retrospective written record of dialogue, and like a script (a prospective record) may include other scene information such as props or actions. In the case of a transcript of a film or television episode, ideally it is a verbatim record. Because closed-captioning is usually written separately, its text may have errors and does not necessarily reflect the true Canonical transcript.

Transcripts for Lost episodes up to and including "Enter 77" are based on the transcriptions by Lost-TV member Spooky with aid of DVR, and at times, closed captions for clarification. She and Lost-TV have generously granted us permission to share/host these transcripts at Lostpedia. Later transcripts were created by the Lostpedia community, unless stated otherwise below.

Question: Damon and Carlton, I guess in retrospect, considering this is the final season, can you tell us what the funniest story from inside the writing room was? And also, is anybody on the Island ever gonna play the banjo?

Carlton Cuse: Sadly, there's a battle of good and evil going on in the final season, which probably doesn't mean, it's like, "hey, let's just stop the battle of good and evil and just have a little banjo playing", kind of tough, probably not...

Damon Lindelof: Although there's banjo playing in "Deliverance", which is sort of kind of the freakiest movies ever.

Carlton Cuse: Yeah, but they play the banjo before all hell breaks loose...

Damon Lindelof: That's true. So if we were to do any banjo playing...

Carlton Cuse: It would have been sooner...

Damon Lindelof: That's true...

Carlton Cuse: Okay, funniest writer's room stories...

Damon Lindelof: So no banjo.

Carlton Cuse: No banjo, probably.

Damon Lindelof: Oh, it feels like we have so many laughs in the writer's room, (laughs)

Carlton Cuse: (laughs) I think...

Damon Lindelof: There was an apple eating contest back in season 4 between Carlton and Drew Goddard...

Carlton Cuse: I lost...

Damon Lindelof: Yeah, well, Carlton eats apples so quickly that the challenge was that Carlton could eat two apples in the time that it took Drew to eat one, and it was close. You lost, but...

Carlton Cuse: Maybe by one quarter of an apple, I had one and three quarters of the apple's down, but the problem was, there's a choice that you make in eating apples, it's swallowing versus mastication, and I got too much apple in my mouth without swallowing and therefore it jammed my mastication functions. This is really too many details...
