Nikki Fernandez is one of the middle section survivors from Flight 815. She is currently buried and it is unknown whether she has died or will survive.
Before the Crash
Nikki was an actress in Sydney, Australia playing the guest part of Corvette on the Charlie's Angelsesque television show Exposé. She was engaged in an affair with Exposé director Howard L. Zukerman during her career, and after her character was written off the show, she continued to date him. The affair was staged, however, as she conspired with Paulo to steal eight-million dollars worth of diamonds from Zukerman, murdering the director in a way that police ruled as heart failure. Nikki was headed for Los Angeles with Paulo when they boarded Oceanic Flight 815. ("Exposé")
On the Island
"When where you planning on telling us this Hurley?"
Nikki is first introduced when Locke and Charlie return from the polar bear cave with Eko. Nikki runs to find Jack to treat Eko's injuries, then yells at Hurley for not telling anyone Jack had disappeared (Hurley presumably neglected to tell the other survivors about the kidnapping when he first got back). ("Further Instructions") She listens to Locke's speech, along with Paulo, Charlie, Hurley and Claire, as he states that he would rescue Jack, Kate and Sawyer -- which Desmond had predicted he would say earlier. ("Further Instructions")
A few days after, Nikki heads to the Pearl with the group consisting of Locke, Paulo, Sayid and Desmond). Once they are inside, she watches the Pearl orientation video, and draws their attention to the fact that the man on the video mentions other DHARMA projects. She surmises that it is possible that the other televisions in the station can be used to watch other DHARMA stations. However, she is frightened when Desmond and Sayid patch up the feed, and see a man from another station looking into one of the Pearl Station's cameras. ("The Cost of Living")
After this, noises of the "Monster" are heard, and she rushes outside with everyone else, watching Eko's final moments with teary eyes. She seems affected by the death of her campmate, and is present at his burial. ("The Cost of Living")
Once back at the camp, Nikki is among the survivors that Hurley is trying to convince to investigate the car he found in the jungle. While everyone except Jin is refusing to go with Hurley, Paulo leads Nikki away from the group by pulling on the back of her shorts, hinting they do have a relationship of some type. ("Tricia Tanaka Is Dead")
Later, on the beach, Sawyer asks for his stash back. Nikki stands up to him, telling him that the stuff in the stash wasn't his in the first place. He then said to her "Who the hell are you?". She is with the other survivors watching the ping-pong match. ("Enter 77")
In Exposé, she and Paulo get into a conflict over the diamonds they had stolen in Australia. She uses a female "Medusa spider" to attack Paulo, explaining that the spider's venom paralyzes and slows the heartrate of its victim as to create the appearance of death. After being bitten, Paulo collapses, but confesses that he'd kept the diamonds hidden because he feared Nikki would leave him if she didn't need him. Almost immediately, a chittering sound is heard, and Medusa spiders swarm Nikki, biting her as well. She quickly buries the diamonds and rushes to the beach where she collapses in front of Hurley and Sawyer. Having misheard her last word "paralyzed" as "Paulo lies," Charlie, Sawyer, Sun and Desmond naturally believe the little-known couple to be dead, and bury them, alive.

- The name Nikki is a shortened form of Nicole, which means "victory of the people" in Greek.
