* He isn't dead. It is possible that [[Goodwin]] appeared to kill Nathan because they were being watched by a [[tailie]], maybe [[Cindy]]. Goodwin prentended to kill Nathan and dragged him away to a clearing where Nathan ran away to his other camp.

* He is dead. That neck snapping sound effect was pretty convincing.

Main Article Theories about
Nathan
Main Discussion
Theories may be removed if ...
  1. Stated as questions or possibilities (avoid question marks, "Maybe", "I think", etc).
  2. More appropriate for another article.
  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.
  6. Responding to another theory (use discussion page instead).
  • This does not include responses that can stand alone as its own theory.
  • Usage of an indented bullet does not imply the statement is a response.

See the Lostpedia theory policy for more details.

  • Nathan WAS one of the Others.
    • Goodwin was afraid that they would both be exposed if Ana tortured Nathan, so he killed him.
    • Nathan really was meeting with "Them" during bathroom breaks.
    • Nathan and Goodwin were working together. (Note that Goodwin backs Nathan up on multiple occasions, are seen sitting close to each other in group scenes.)
    • Goodwin's comment that Nathan was not "good" might relate to Milgram experiment theory. Perhaps those who are not "obedient" to his group are not "good."
  • Nathan was NOT one of "Them."
    • When he was talking to Goodwin before his death, he asked Goodwin "Which way to the beach?". If Nathan was an Other, he would know where the beach is, and, with no one around to see, there would be no facade to be had between the two "Others".
    • Nathan can't be seen at Otherville, nor is sent by Ben with Goodwin
  • Had another agenda on the island
    • Was a member of the DHARMA Initiative
    • Became a sort of vigilante after the first night, went looking for the others
  • Wasn't an Other but was a traitor. Similar to Michael he was convinced to betray his fellow survivors when approached by the Others. This is why Goodwin killed him because his betrayal proved he wasn't a good person.
  • Was from a different group of people on the Island, maybe one of the "bad guys", as opposed to the "good guys" Ben claims his group to be.
  • Nathan was one of the "Hostiles" described in episode Enter 77
  • He isn't dead. It is possible that Goodwin appeared to kill Nathan because they were being watched by a tailie, maybe Cindy. Goodwin prentended to kill Nathan and dragged him away to a clearing where Nathan ran away to his other camp.
