- Upset with Hurley because of bad luck or misfortune that was brought to his store after he won.
- Since he sold Hurley the lottery ticket, which Hurley sees as a major cause of his troubles, he may be seen as a symbolic agent of change to Hurley. This could simply be his subconscious warning him that disaster is coming with a symbol he would recognize.
- The symbolic emphasis could also be the crossroads from Hurley's old life (Chicken Shack, when he was happy with his life) to Hurley's new life with the lottery ticket (sold to him by the Shop Clerk). The fact that Jin, in his dream is speaking English and Hurley Korean displays the fact that things are/are going to change.
- The significance of birds to Hurley may be shown here and during the last episode of Series 2.
