Flashbacks[]

Desmond prepares to leave for the solo boat race around the world. Nadia confronts him, and it appears that they know each other from somewhere. They catch up with each other, and Desmond discovers that Charles Widmore sent Nadia to spy on what he is doing. Mr. Widmore offered Nadia a new life in England, but is indebted to him, explaining why she was sent to spy on Desmond. Desmond becomes offended, and leaves off in the sailboat.

Events Off-Island[]

The season begins with soft, classical music playing in a study with a map of the world on the wall. The man in the study is revealed to be Charles Widmore, establishing that the scene is one of few to take place off of the Island in real time. He recieves a call from a man named Kim, who patches him through to Minkowski -- who informs Widmore that contact with Naomi's freighter has been lost. Knowing that they have finally found the Island, Widmore throws a dart at the World Map, striking the center of a red circle in the southern Pacific.

Real Time Events[]

The show returns to the Island to see Desmond inside of the Looking Glass. When he goes to put on his scuba gear, he experiences one of his flashes. In the flash, Desmond sees himself, Jin, Bernard, Hurley, Sawyer, Sayid, and Juliet looking out at the ocean, where they spot a small boat. They begin to wave, but the boat moves away. The flashes move to the jungle, where Hurley is bleeding from the shoulder and Desmond is attacked by a "Burly Man," falling to the ground. The man points the gun at Desmond and begins to pull the trigger before the flashes end.

Jack, Kate, Danielle, and Alex interrogate Ben, who is tied to a tree near the Radio Tower. Ben continues to try to pursuade the group that the people coming to the Island are evil. He is ignored and knocked unconcious.

At the beach, Hurley approaches Sawyer to talk to him about killing Tom in cold blood, but walks away when Sawyer starts to make fun of him. Later, Hurley and Desmond are talking about the new flashes, when they find Sayid talking on a walkie-talkie with Jack and Kate. Sayid tells them about Charlie's dying message in the Looking Glass, and that he didn't make it.

In the middle of the night, Desmond and Hurley are looking through some bushes where they see the Burly Man from Desmond's visions. Hurley charges at the man and tackles him. The man kicks Hurley in the groin and tries to strangle him, before Desmond picks up a gun and kills the man. After the struggle, there is someone rustling in the bushes. Desmond aims the gun at the person and recognizes them, but it is not yet revealed who it is.

At the Radio Tower the next morning, Claire wakes Jack up and Karl tells everyone that someone hit him from behind and took Ben. Jack, clearly enraged, blames Locke.

At the beach, Hurley informs Sayid that Desmond has taken a woman hostage. Hurley asks him to torture her, but Sayid says he doesn't do it anymore. Sayid follows Hurley to the prisoner in the jungle and is shocked to learn that it is none other than Nadia.

Flashbacks[]

The flashbacks do not happen in chronological order. For example, the first flashback is the most recent, as the last flashback is the flashback that should have come first if not for the reverse chronology.

In the first flashback, Richard is in Miami after failing to recruit Juliet. He calls Ben to break him the bad news, when he is almost hit by a bus. The pilot of Flight 815 (Now known to be called Seth Norris) saves his life, and Richard suddenly hatches a plan to recruit Juliet. It is revealed that Richard was involved in the killing of Edmund Burke.

In the second flashback, Ben gives Richard a list of fertility doctors that have enough experience and skill to help with the islands pregnancy issues. We also see that this will benefit both Richard and Ben when we figure out that Richard's wife, Bethany, is pregnant.

And in the third flashback, we meet Daniel, a wise man who appoints Richard as Witness, which is a job to be further explored. Daniel tells Richard that “the new people” (DHARMA) who have arrived on the Island bear a child who could help Richard's group co-exist with the DHARMA Initiative.

Real Time Events[]

It is revealed that it was John Locke who not only freed, but kidnapped Ben. After dragging Ben relentlessly through the jungle for an unknown amount of time, John decides to stop to rest. Then, without an hesitation, John shoots Ben in the shoulder, before telling him that he needs "answers". Ben then refuses to tell John anything unless he helps warn the Others, about the present situation, first.

Back at the Radio tower, Jack throws a tantrum -- threatening to kill Locke. Danielle offers to take care of the situation and go after Ben, but Jack insists that he goes too. Jack and Danielle are about to leave when Alex steps forward and tells them that they need her help to find where the Others, and presumably Ben, are going -- the Temple.

Richard, who was briefly seen leading the Others through the Jungle earlier, has stopped to rest. Many of the people traveling with him occasionally exchange glances at him, while he stares on at Cindy as she helps care for Emma and Zack. Then it is revealed that it is actually the chldren who Richard is looking at. After a few moments, Cindy is beside him, asking if he is all right.

Later, in the evening, the group is walking through the jungle when Cindy asks Richard why they are going to the Temple. He mentions ceremonies, and describes the Temple as a "cradle" where everything got started.

Richard and the Others have finally arrived at the entrance of the Temple -- which appears to be a whole in the face of a cliff -- when they hear something moving through the bushes. Suddenly, John appears, throwing Ben onto the ground. Ben brushes himself off and asks Richard if he's ready to begin before walking into the Temple.

Flashbacks[]

In Sayid’s flashbacks, we see more about the Basra Incident, previously mentioned by Juliet. They begin with Sayid speaking with a fellow comrade, Achmed. They have just completed turning a shop into a command post. Achmed is then needed at the nearest command post to deliver supplies. Before his departure, he mentions a “rebel uprising” which could have been that start of the whole incident.

The next flashback burdens Sayid with a very difficult dilemma. He meets up with Nadia who leaves a young Shi’aa girl named Zhraa in his care, after watching her parents’ execution by the republican guard. Sayid promises to keep Zhraa out of any trouble or danger, as Nadia flees Basra just before her, Sayid and Zhraa are almost caught by patrolling republican guards.

Sayid begins to lead Zhraa through the war torn streets of Basra, saying that it is no place for a child to be. Soon after, he and Zhraa are captured by patrols, and brought back to Achmed.

Achmed suspects that Sayid has betrayed the republican guard by helping the daughter of the enemy escape, and Achmed has no choice but to bring Sayid to a mass civilian execution, where Zhraa is amongst the survivors.

At first, Achmed taunts Sayid by shooting bullets into the air, making the civilians think that they are the ones being shot at. Achmed then shoots bullets at the crowd, and Sayid breaks down, knowing that he had a huge role in the deaths of the civilians. Zhraa is among the surviving civilians. Achmed tells Sayid that he must choose a side, and this is what happens to traitors. Sayid gets the thought of stabbing Achmed. Achmed then kills the remaining civilians, including Zhraa, and with that, Sayid looses the thought of killing Achmed, and just breaks down worse then before.

Real Time Events[]

Sayid and Nadia are shocked to see each other, both present on the island. Sayid quickly begins freeing Nadia, to which Desmond warns him that Nadia could very well be dangerous. At first, Sayid is defensive, explaining that Nadia would never hurt anyone. However, Sayid eventually agrees that the group needs answers before trusting their new hostage. Nadia refuses to talk so Sayid asks Desmond and Hurley to give them some privacy.

When the others leave, Sayid and Nadia talk. Nadia begins the conversation by remarking on the irony of their words to get other: "you'll find me in the next life, if not in this one". Nadia asks Sayid if he is going to torture her for answers, but Sayid refuses to humor such an idea. However, Sayid explains that Nadia should be forecoming about her reasons and means of coming to the island. Nadia's answer to both the how and why is simply fate. Nadia then calls out to Hurley and Desmond, exposing their failed spy work.

Sayid is enraged when he learns that the two of them were spying after promising to give him and Nadia some privacy. Desmond explains that he had a right to spy because Sayid's judgement could be skewed by his love for Nadia, while Hurley reminds him that earlier Nadia worked for someone hostile. This seems to persaude Sayid back to an objective view, but Nadia uses this moment to reveal her relationship with Desmond off the island (as seen in Our Mutual Freind). Again, Nadia claims that fate is at work and the survivors need to accept it.

Later, Sayid sends Hurley to warn the camp returning to the Radio Tower - leaving Desmond and Sayid. The two decide to keep Nadia as a hostage. As the three of them walk back to the other group of survivors, Desmond asks Sayid if he thinks the rescue party is really an invasion. Sayid explains that he is not taking any risks in trusting them. Suddenly, they hear the sound of helicopters in the distance. Nadia looks up at the origin of the sound, coldly explaining that "they're here".

Meanwhile, Alex leads Danielle and Jack to the Temple. Jack begins to question Alex about the nature of the Temple, but Alex claims to know very little about it - only that it is "special". Jack remarks that Alex sounds a lot like Locke, to which Alex explains that, despite his actions, Locke is a good man. To this defense, Jack sarcastically asks Alex if she and Locke were friends at one time, but Alex ignores his snide remarks and continues leading them on.

Trivia[]

Flashbacks[]

The scene opens in Australia on October 1st, 1982. A young woman sits in an adoption agency across from a young couple named Byran and Melissa McMullan. In front of her is a document for signing away parental rights. The young woman contemplates the weight of signing this document and finds herself unable to. Eventually, a young Christian Shephard walks in - apologizing for being late. He sits down and quickly signs his own paperwork - removing his rights as a father to the baby. He notices that the woman, now revealed to be Carole Littleton, is unable to sign her's away. Eventually, Christian is able to convince Carole that it is "the right thing to do" and the McMullans adopt Claire. Carole then asks a request: for the new family to name the baby Claire.

Four years later, a young Claire has officially become part of the McMullan family, but their life is troubled. On a certian night, Bryan rushes in frantically and pulls Melissa into the kitchen to discuss something dire. The young Claire overhears them arguing over someone who is trying to find them. Bryan explains that if "he" finds them they will all be dead by the morning. Melissa then notices Claire standing nearby, to which Bryan stops yelling. Bryan takes Claire in his arms and begins walking upstairs to take her to bed. Claire asks her adopted father if he will sing her song".

The next morning, Bryan wakes Claire up and asks her to pack her things, explaining that they need to leave for a "special holiday". Claire agrees to get ready and eventually the McMullans leave their home. In the car, Melissa explains to Claire that they are getting on an airplane. Claire then bravely states that if she gets scared she can always sing her song to calm down.

Later in the airport, Bryan infroms Melissa that, due to bad weather, their flight has been delayed. Melissa becomes more and more agitated, worried about being found by their mysterious pursuer, but eventually they are called up to go to their plane. As they walk to the boarding dock, they notice that they might have been followed. Nonetheless, they get aboard. On the flight, Claire becomes scared of the lightning outside - but Bryan begins singing Catch a Falling Star to her and she calms down.

Eventually the McMullans arrive at Los Angeles. There, they go and visit Christian to find some help. Christian offers money, but Bryan explains that he wants him to take Claire. Christian states that he can't because he has a family. However, he agrees to take her back to Carole.

Keeping good to his word, Christian finds Carole and returns Claire to her. Christian explains that he has taken care of all the logistics - but that Carole needs to change her last name to "Littleton". Christian also explains that Carole will never be allowed to go "back there", to which Carole explains that she understands the level of sacrifice demanded of her. Christian leaves Claire - but the four-year-old remains very confused. Carole begins to explain the situation to her and the two leave.

Real Time Events[]

Claire is able to force the news of Charlie out of Kate, and Claire is quickly angered that no one told her. This rage is meant for Jack, since he did not tell her, let alone want anyone to tell her. She sulks to herself for awhile, and Sun grows worried of Claire.

Claire finally decides to leave the radio tower, and into the jungle for some solitary, and Kate understands. She gives her a gun, and Claire goes off into the jungle. For a moment, Sun questions Kate's decision, but understands later.

In the jungle, Claire sees the apparent "apparition" of Charlie, who is soaking wet, and freezing. Claire follows the apparition, and it leads her into- Mikhail Bakunin, who has survived the grenade detonation at "The Looking Glass". Mikhail goes on about how special Claire is, and Claire refuses to believe so, until Mikhail raises the point that her biological father got one of "the others" pregnant, who turned out to be Claire's biological mother, and so they were forced to leave the island because of the death of pregnant women, proving that Claire is technically an "other".

Back at the radio tower, Kate grows worried of Claire's long absence. She grabs a gun, and shoots off after Claire. Eventually, Kate finds Mikhail talking to Claire, and she shoots Mikhail in the leg. Claire takes the gun that Mikhail had stolen from her, and points it at him saying: "I'm doing it, Kate. I'm killing him." Kate then points out that Mikhail could give them answers about the island, so Claire gives in, and takes Mikhail prisoner. On their way back to the radio tower, Claire sings "Catch A Falling Star", remembering her turbulent, young life.

At the Temple, Jack, Danielle and Alex have found Locke, and are spying in the distance. Danielle questions Jack's choice to find Locke. Jack replies: "Justice, Danielle. Even on this island there must be justice."

Flashbacks[]

A few months after his accident, Locke's life has been reduced to one of isolation, anger and drugs. He sits in his loft watching an episode of Expose when suddenly his phone rings. He answers it, but the person on the other end hangs up. Again, the phone rings. Angered by the possibility that his father is trying to contact him, Locke shouts at the person - again the caller hangs up. Locke wheels himself over to his window, noticing something suspicious. He watches as a car speeds off. He shrugs off this weird encounter in anger, returning to his isolating television. As he watches it a commercial comes on for Melbourne Walkabout Tours. Locke watches with a look of inspiration in his eyes.

Sometime later, Locked ordered the Australian walkabout documentary. As he sits there, enjoying an apollo candy bar, he notices that the same car from earlier is parked outside. Before he can react there comes a knock at the door. Locke opens the door, revealing that it his mother: Emily. This angers Locke, but Emily explains that she is acting outside of Cooper and that she genuinely wants to see her son. Locke ponders this defense and eventually allows her inside his messy apartment. Immediately, Emily starts acting maternal by telling Locke that he shouldn't drink and asking him to call her 'mom'. This only angers Locke more, but Emily quickly begins telling him the account of Abraham and his son Isaac from the Bible. Locke humors her, but misses the point. Emily explains that the message behind the story is about having faith even in God's tests. Locke remains sarcastic and demands Emily to leave. She does, but on her way out she tells Locke that only by having faith in hard trails will he find his destiny.

More time passes and John Locke sits in his wheelchair reading Walkabout, By: James Vance Marshall. He seems to have changed: he is much more clean, there are no drugs around, and his apartment remains relatively clean. On this day, Emily remains to him. Locke opens the door without hesitation and with less anger, though hesitating for a moment. Once inside, Emily explains that she wants to make up for her previous sins by giving him a gift: a silver case containing many hunting knives. Locke is taken back by this nice gesture, but becomes disgusted when he learns that they are his fathers. Emily explains that she stole them from Cooper and that it is reparation. Locke accepts them, but Emily makes him promise to go on the Walkabout. Locke agrees to this promise, explaining that it is his "destiny".

Much later, when Locke lies in the mass grave. Locke contemplates suicide, but Walt appears to him as played out in "Through The Looking Glass", but the scene continues on. Walt explains that Locke is coming to his final test before arriving at his "true destiny". After remarking on this extra bit of information, Walt points to the direction that Locke is to go before disappearing..

Real Time Events[]

The morning after Locke and Ben arrived, the Others file into the cavernous Temple for a speech. Ben walks onto the stage and addresses the crowd, signaling Locke to join him. Once on stage, Ben tells the Others that today marks a day of change. Ben explains that today John Locke takes his place as the man who will bring about Jacob's plan to shape the Island's destiny. Locke is shocked to hear these words coming from Ben and listens to him intently.

Meanwhile, Alex, Danielle and Jack listen nearby, hiding from plain sight. Jack becomes enraged by Ben's speech and steps out to address the crowd. Alex tries to stop him, but his mission is set. Jack reveals himself, saying "This is it, John? This is your destiny?" Danielle takes her daughter away, claiming that Jack has to fight his own battles. Alex is reluctant to leave, but eventually does so.

Once he has everyone's attention, Jack tells Locke that he is not one of the Others. Jack explains that help is coming from the freighter and everyone will leave the island - inviting Locke to abandone his quest and join the rescue. Locke refuses and Jack is captured.

Later that night, Jack comes to. Locke explains that he is tired of Jack trying to ruin his new life on the island, to which Ben gives him a knife. Ben explains that the murder of Jack is Locke's final test. Locke, with no emotion, prepares for the sacrifice - explaining that his faith is being tested like Abraham before him.

Elsewhere, Hurley has become very lost - finding his way to the cabin. When he sees it in the distance, he runs toward it with hope. Eventually he trips over the ash line, breaking an apparent seal over Jacob's spirit. As a result, Jacob's spirit rushes to the Temple and possesses Locke. Locke, now Jacob, looks up with a renewed valor, explaining that "it is time..."

Jacob reveals to everyone that Ben had imprisoned him a long time ago and that Ben has been lying about his will for years. Flash Forwards[]

Kate pulls into the driveway to her house. She has been crying over her recent meeting with Jack at the airport. She goes inside and discovers a note left by the babysitter, Jessica. The note explains that her husband has to stay in Washington D.C longer and will not be home tonight as planned. Frustrated, Kate crumples the note and throws it away. She proceeds upstairs and enters a little girl’s bedroom. A five-year-old girl awakens and asks Kate where her daddy is. Kate reassures the girl that her father will be home as soon as possible. Kate calls her by name, Clementine, thus revealing Kate’s husband to be Sawyer. Kate returns downstairs to the kitchen and meets Jessica. Kate gives her money and suggests that she sleeps in the guest bedroom because it is too late for her to drive home. Jessica says she needs to call her mom for permission. Later that night, Kate lies in bed awake unable to sleep. She clutches a teddy bear tightly reminding her of something sad. She picks up the phone and calls Sawyer. She argues with Sawyer about breaking his promise to Clementine about coming home. Sawyer tells Kate she is overreacting and explains that Clementine will understand. He tells Kate he will do the best he can to speed things along in Washington. Kate tells Sawyer she met Jack at the airport and that he wants to go back to the Island. Sawyer argues that Jack must quit calling her or their lives will be in danger if the wrong people find out. The call is abruptly ended when Kate hears a noise outside. She grabs a gun from a safety box in the closet and goes outside to investigate. She discovers a drunken Jack staggering around looking for her.

Kate helps Jack inside and she makes him some coffee to help sober him up. Jack becomes sarcastic towards Kate by mentioning how well off she is having a nice home and how her step-father helped exonerate her of her past crimes. He also questions her love for Sawyer. Kate becomes angry and throws water in his face. She begins to cry and explains to Jack that she truly loves Sawyer, but she does regret her decision about leaving the Island and the circumstances around it. She also tells Jack that she can’t move on with her life if he keeps calling her and begging her that they have to go back. Depressed, Jack attempts to leave, but he stumbles and almost falls. Kate helps him to the sofa and Jack tries to kiss her, but she backs away. Jack falls asleep and Kate decides to help Jack find a way to return to the Island. She calls Michael, who is working at a construction site in New York City. In the first scene, we see Hurley and Dave still pondering wether or not to enter the cabin. Dave tells Hurley that if he ditches the cabin and heads back to the survivors, he will be safe, and welcome. Hurley argues that going into the cabin would be a better idea, only with more attitude since Dave's return. ignoring Dave's words, he enters the cabin.

Out in the jungle, the survivors look for Hurley. Sawyer takes this as an oppurtunity to start a conversation with Karl. He begins by taunting him about what happened back at the hydra island. Karl defends himself saying that he was quite important back there. Sawyer just beats it down with another taunt. Karl gets slightly offended, and tells Sawyer, to his face, that he hopes his daughter doesn't take on his aspects. Sawyer is on the verge of hitting Karl, when Steve, just a few feet away from the two fires his gun into the jungle. Vincent casually trots out of the jungle. Sawyer takes Steve's gun and gives it to Jin, telling Steve not to swing before the pitch, referring to the incident in "Behind the White Picket Fence". Then suddenly, Vincent takes off into the jungle. Sawyer and Jin follow.

Back at the cabin, Hurley and Dave have entered the cabin. Dave is being a chatty-cathy, while Hurley trys to look for the list. Growing tired of Dave's company, Hurley questions his appearence before asking about the list. Dave just tells Hurley that it's a list with his name on it, but makes it sound as if it's nothing. After Hurley gets impatient with Dave, he snaps, but Dave screams at Hurley, scaring him. it is Jacob possesing Dave. He forces Dave to point to a spot in the wall, and after Hurley looks at a removable slot in the wall, Dave is gone.

Sayid asks Nadia about the invaders' plans, but Nadia tells him that she does not know their most recent plans, but she knows that they plan to capture all the vantage points on the island, before they assualt the inhabitors. Sayid, obviously frightened, tells Nadia that she will help them evade the invaders or he will kill her.

Ben shows up at the cabin, and tells Hurley that he was expected here. Hurley is surprised, and asks what Ben plans to do to him. Ben mentions the humiliation, and banishment that happned at the temple, and says that he is in no position to do anything, and that all he needs are the papers in the slot in the wall. Hurley quickly hands the papers to Ben, and asks for forgivness for running over his man. He claims he only did to protect his friends. Ben forgives him, and offers Hurley a chance to come with him to where he is going. He says that if Hurley comes with him, he can tell him who Libby was. Hurley gets angry and refuses, saying that he was the one who killed her in the first place, getting Michael to turn on his friends. Ben leaves none the less, and leaves Hurley alone in the cabin to himself. Happy to be forgiven.

Flashbacks[]

In a flashback, Sawyer holds a man named Jimmy at gunpoint. He claims that Jimmy was seen talking to a cop and that he "blew the whole operation". He prepares to kill him, but when Jimmy mentions his family, Sawyer stops with guilt. Sawyer hands Jimmy a suitcase of money and tells him to get the next bus out of Tampa. When Jimmy puts the suitcase in his trunk, Hibbs comes out of the trunk and holds Sawyer at gunpoint. He tells him that it was a setup and that the cops are coming because of the ten thousand dollars he stole. Sirens are heard in the distance and Hibbs shoots the tires of Sawyer's car. Hibbs and Jimmy leave with the money and Sawyer is left to the cops. He swears revenge of the two of them and that he ever meets them again, he'll kill them.

Real Time Events[]

Taking from from where 'Forgive' ended, Sawyer finds Walt in the jungle, but Jin can't see him. Sawyer follows to find Tom, with his theatrical beard. Tom brings up demons from Sawyer's past - Anthony Cooper, Hibbs, Frank Duckett and knows about Clementine. James tries to take down the Other, who keeps disappearing. Tom tells Sawyer to regret what he's done, but he's sure all of the Others deserved to die. When Jin appears, the Monster appears from the jungle and attacks them both - leaving Jin seriously injured. Sawyer takes him back to the camp.

Back at the jungle camp, Juliet and others try to save Jin, while Sun keeps bashing Sawyer. Just as they are losing him, Sawyer feels remorseful, a wind passes by and a whisper is heard - Jin starts to breathe again. His leg is set, and Sun tells Sawyer that his husband was given a second chance at life - that he should take advantage of the second chance he's got to say he's sorry.

Sawyer apologizes to Juliet for killing Tom in cold blood, and the main members of the group gather. They're low on medications - they can't treat Jin long-term. Juliet organizes a team to get supplies from the Barracks using Ben's passages, including Sayid, Nadia, Sawyer and Kate. Danielle and Desmond are to build a stretcher for Jin and move him to a protected zone nearby.

John leads the Others to a special place in the Island - the Pillar of Faith. Erected by the Island's natives, it tells the story of Jacob, and they all get their faith restored, especially Richard. John and Cindy discuss that the Island punishes those that lose their way and faith (while the Monster attacks Sawyer), and gives a second chance to those who seek it and believe in themselves (while Jin is saved). They rest - the next day they're set to save the Island.

At the Barracks, Minkowski is looking at maps of the Island while talking to Widmore, who wants the Orchid station to be found. Two armed men drag Hurley, and throw him inside a building along with Jack - they aren't going to be rescued.

Flash Forwards[]

Sawyer and Kate are just married in New Mexico. After they talk about the wedding party, they're about to enter their room, but notice its number - 23. Bringing back memories of the Island, they decide they'd rather get another room.

In the lobby, two FBI agents confront Sawyer. When they need information, James reminds them that he gave them Hibbs so he would be absolved for Frank Duckett's murder. They show him a picture of Cassidy, and inform him she died from an overdose. Therefore, Clementine's care passes to him. Ready to tell Kate, he notices a blond woman looking at him from afar. As he walks towards her, she leaves in a car.

Sawyer, Kate and Clementine are together as a family, now that the latter has moved with them. While buying ice cream, Sawyer notices the blond woman again, and chases her. After a fight, he takes her sunglasses and wig - and the woman is none other than Cindy. She's working on behalf of 'he', who wanted to get to Clementine, who is refered to as special, like Walt. He made Cassidy's death look like an accident, since he wants to get to the other children. Samantha is named by Sawyer, and before leaving, Cindy leaves James a number. But he can't tell that to anyone, even Kate or Jack.

Flashbacks[]

After the burning of the raft, Tom and his raiding part rode in to Other-controlled terrority with Walt. There, Juliet, Jason, and Pickett greeted them. While all the Others celebrated their victory of the raft, Juliet focused her attention on the cold and frightened child that they abducted. Walt demanded to be return to his father, but Juliet explained that such a request could never be met. She explained that here, on the island, Walt must learn his true potential.

Eventually, Juliet was assigned the role as Walt's caretaker. Walt would remain in her house in the Barracks under her supervision. Here, living among the Others, Walt began being tested right away. A few days after the raft incident, he was returned to Juleit's care by Bea, who explained that things were going quite well. However, when Bea left, Juliet was honest enough to ask Walt how bad he was being treated. Walt explained that his "training" was horrible and that he misses his dad. Juliet tells Walt that an other named Brian saw Michael in the jungle with the tail-section and that he is alive. This doesn't comfort Walt much, but he accepts this information. Walt then explains that Juliet isn't like the Others and that she should leave them and join the survivors. Juliet treats his words nonchantly and begins preparing dinner for him. Juliet then asks Walt what exactly is happening in "the station" he's being taken too, but Walt refuses to comment.

The next morning, Bea enters inside Juleit's house to retreive Walt for more experiments. Juliet is offended that she came in without knowing, but Bea ignores her complaint. She is far too interested in Walt, explaining that she wants Walt to try something new today. Walt explains he is still eating breakfast, but Bea coerces him. Her weird behavior sparks Juliet's curiousty, as well as her concern for Walt - so she secretly follows Bea, Walt and Isabel to The Orchid.

Once inside, Juliet finds herself in a small observation room above a larger room (empty expect for a single chair and speakers on either side of the walls). Acting fast, Juliet jumps inside a locker and listens closely to what is happening outside. A moment later, Ben and Isabel enter the observation room, while Walt enters the large room beneath them. Ben begins speaking to him through a microphone system, telling Walt to relax his mind in prepartion for his task. Ben then whispers to Isabel, asking her if the ash was ready. Isabel explains that Bea gathered some from the cabin that morning. Ben then returns to Walt, asking him to feel "powerful" and "greater than just a human being". Walt goes into a deep concentration, while Ben begins to press buttons on the panel before him. The lights in the large room got out and are replaced by a single neon blue overhead light. The ash is then dispensed into the room with Walt, visible under the pyrolysis. The ash begins turning to black smoke, when suddenly the room is filled with a blindly light.

After the light disapates, the smoke rushes out of the room and Ben looks to Isabel with a smile of victory. He explains that now they have a way of manifesting this substance in order to control it better. Isabel is a little less excited, explaining that if Walt's hateful emotions become part of their "copy" it will result in something bad. Nonetheless, Isabel remains hopeful that by that night they will know if their copy takes form and they can begin tracking it. Ben explains that, even if it takes form, it will be to hard to follow. Ben also explains that their previous copies were only consumed by the larger creature and that it why it's become so "monstrous". Isabel also comments on the monster's curiousity with the survivors, but Ben explains that its not a threat to be concerned with. Isabel then explains that she will add all this to the "Walt File", giving up its position to the still hidden Juliet. After the two exit The Orchid, Juliet comes out of hidding - shocked and troubled by what she's seen.

During the Lacunar Amnesia[]

During their rescue attempt, Juliet was captured and knocked out - taken to one of the Barracks houses. Jack, who was somehow freed by Sayid, rescued Juliet from the invaders and the three of them prepared to leave. However, they are sepearated and Sayid leaves for a different part of the Barracks. Once outside, Jack and Juliet go to Ben's House in order to retreive the medication. Once inside, Juliet gathers the medicine, but also finds the "Walt File". Once all this is gathered, Juliet and Jack escape from the Barracks and run. However, it is later in the jungle that Walt appears to Juliet and Jack. Jack is shocked to see Walt, but Juliet explains that it is not Walt at all. Before any explaination can be given, Walt tells them to "forget". The two pass out, and the apparation dissapears into a wisp of black smoke.

Real Time Events[]

Sayid, Nadia, Sawyer, and Kate walk out into the quietness of the night, unsure where Juliet is leading them. Sawyer takes Kate's hand and apologizes for being chauvanistic earlier, admitting that Kate is tough enough to take care of herself (even if she is pregnant). Kate is a little shocked at Sawyer's sensitivity, but accepts his apology nonetheless. Sawyer, a little embarrassed by his vulnerability, explains that he is saying that because he realizes there about to enter the "belly of the beast". Further ahead, Sayid questions Juliet about the use of the tunnels. Juliet explains that using the tunnels will reduce the time they'd take to get to the Barracks by half. Even as they discuss this, they arrive at one of the tunnels and enter. Once inside, the five begin moving further and further into the darkness. All remains silent for awhile until suddenly there comes a painful humming. Suddenly the tunnel is filled with a blindly light.

An unknown amount of time passes by and Juliet finds herself awakening in the Jungle in the morning. She is very disoriented and doesn't remember the events of the night before. Even more shocking is the fact that Jack is with her. Jack explains that he doesn't remember anything either, so the two decide to head back to camp and solve the mystery there. Once there, Desmond and Claire are shocked to see Jack still alive. Desmond begins asking questions, but in the process explains that Jin is severely hurt. Juliet then explain that is why they were headed to the Barracks in the first place.

Jack is taken to see Jin and begins treating him the best he can. While he does this, Desmond continues asking question to Juliet. Juliet reiterates that she doesn't remember anything that occured the night before. Desmond then comments that he is prepared to go to the Barracks to try and saved Kate and Sawyer, since they are probably being held prisoner by the invaders. Jack explains that Jin will be alright and there won't be another "Boone Incident". They then prepare for another attempt at rescue when Jack notices something hanging out of her pack. It is the "Walt File". At first, Juliet doesn't know what its doing in her pack, but eventually she begins remembering everything that happened the night before (see above: Lacunar Amensia).

Elsewhere, Sayid wakes up in a similar fashion. He remains weary for awhile, but eventually Nadia comes running through the woods. Nadia explains that they are being followed, telling Sayid there is no time to explain by whom. The two then begin running from their unknown pursuer as gunshots go off behind them. Eventually they stop running. Sayid is shocked to learn that he is at the Balloon where the real Henry Gale was buried. Nadia then explains that she knows a place to hide, a place the invaders don't know about called The Orchid. Sayid asks what happened last night, since he cannot remember. Nadia promises to tell him, once they are safe. The two begin running again.

Once Sayid and Nadia are outside the Orchid, Sayid confronts Nadia. He asks her why she knows about it and the other freighter people, including Minkowski, don't. Nadia produces a taser and tases Sayid in the chest. He falls to the ground and Nadia kicks him in the head, knocking him out. She then pulls out a walkie talkie and radios the Hydra Man with the same code that Ben used to contact him in "Behind the White Pickett Fence". The Hydra Man, whose name is revealed to be Thomas, connects Nadia to Ben. Ben congratulates Nadia on her good work and reveals that Nadia has been Ben's mole in the DHARMA Initiative for four years. He tells her that Thomas is coming to help her bring Sayid to meet Ben. Nadia says that she hopes Jacob will rewards her and Ben promises he will.

Flashbacks[]

We see the full view of the island, and a boar walks into view. Suddenly, a man wearing grassy natives clothing emerges from the bushes, and tries to attack the boar. The boar is faster, and quickly runs into the jungle were it is over-run by men wearing the same outfits as the man who tried to attack the boar.

We then see that the boar has been killed, and turned into supper for a whole camp of island natives. A man sits in front of the ocean quietly eating his boar meat as another man approaches him. He asks the man in a completey un-recognizeable language, if ever thought that one day they would find someone, or even civilization. This seems to offend the other man, and he snaps at his friend saying that he would ofend - the mans anger is cut off by a quick dismissive answer by the second man, who asks again. The first man gives in, saying that he often wonders if it is even possible to find where they are. The second man agrees, and theorizes that maybe "they will find us". The first man then looks out to see, and responds: "Maybe..."

Next flashback shows many men on a wooden boat, fighting through what seems to be a hurricane. A man working on deck rushes to a man at the wheel, and asks if he is okay. The man says he's fine, and asks the man on deck how progress is. The young man on deck looks doubtful and terrified as he replys that him and the crew can't seem to get the water out fast enough. The stunned man at wheel orders the progress man to get back on the deck and help. The other man just simply replys "we were worried about your safety!" Suddenly, the man at wheel freezes and stares out at the sea. We too, see that there is an enormous wave towering over the boat. It crashes on the ship, and all goes black.

Next we see that the man at wheel was the sole survivor of the boat wreck, and he is now laying on a beach with a large jungle behind him. He gets up, looks out to sea, and sees only timbers remain of the boat. He hears a noise behind him, and as he turns around, we see the islanders from the first flashback. At first, the man is frightened, but as the islanders show they mean know harm, he calms down and introduces himself. The man at wheel was Jacob! One of the islanders shows himself as Deklamsh. Deklamsh beckons for Jacob to follow, and he does so.

After his encounter with the islanders, Jacob sits with them trying to make a fire. He has no idea how to do it, so he asks the islander next to him how to do it. The islander just responds in the same un-recognizeable language we heard earlier. Jacob gets frustrated, and begins complaining about how hard it is to live with the islanders since he cant understand what they try to say to him. The islanders stare at him with a confused loom as he yells, and this angers Jacob more. He then spreads his hands wide, and yells: "This Island is one big prison. You have nothing, here! Nothing! You here me!? NOTHING!" he then storms off into the jungle.

As Jacob walks through the jungle, he arrives at a small stream. He washes his face but stops suddenly, looking at his reflection. He angrily slaps it away, and puts his hands in a praying position. As he does this, we hear the familiar sound of the monster approaching him. He opens his eyes, and looks around. He sees nothing untill the monster bursts from the foliage, and "looks" Jacob right in the eye. It is much smaller then usual, and cries it's foghorn cry in his face. He runs behind him, and reches a small group of trees. He stops to catch his breath but the monster has caught up with him, and it billows up like a ballon in his face. As Jacob pleads for mercy, a white light emits from the monster. It grows bigger, and a whistle sound accompanys it. Jacob sees a flash: He sees himself standing on a hill facing many islanders, apperently giving them orders. The light suddenly fades away, and the whistle sound stops. The area is normal, but the monster is not with Jacob. Jacob suddenly looks releived, and thanks the monster for what it did.

The following morning, Jacob awakes to a large crashing sound, as do all of the islanders. They grab their spears, and head to the sound. At there arrival, they see that the Black Rock has crashed in the jungle, and many people are running around dressed in 18th century clothing. Jacob comes face-to-face with the Black Rock's captain. Jacob asks the captain how he arrived on the island. The Captain says that his ship hit rocks, and when he looked out side he was in the middle of the jungle. Jacob stares at the captain in disbeleif, before turning to the islanders, and making a hand signal. He shoves a spear through the captain's chest, and the islanders attack the Black Rock's crew. The captain, just barely alive, asked Jacob why he did what he did. Jacob replies: "Becuase the Consequences of sparing your people greatly outweigh the benefits of letting them live. The captain stares at Jacob confused, before slowly dying, and as Jacob gets one last look at the dead captain, he grabs the spear out of the captains chest, and joins the fight.

Alot more time has passed in the next flashback. Richard Alpert (with long hair like in "The Man Behind The Curtain") stands in front of a dying Jacob. Jacob throws a small leather bag to Richard, and tells him to fill the bag with the source of the river if he ever wants to see him lead his people again. Richard seems doubtful at first, but as Jacob begs him to, Richard does so, and leaves Jacob in the Black Rock.

The Next Flashback we see is Charles Widmore, Marvin Candle, and an unknown man in a helicopter. They seem quite intent on acheiving many goals on the island as they joyfully discuss their plans to convert the Island into a large research lab.

The final flashback scene shows Jacob sat inside his Cabin watching a plane fall apart in the air and crash onto the Island.

Minkowski then says he'll kill Hurley, Kate and Sawyer unnless they know the truth, as he is about to do so, Juliet calls their bluff admitting that they are all hostiles. A smug Minkowski then gathers all six of them together, Jack asks where they are going, Minkowski replies You’re on a one-way trip to the freighter for further questioning!

As the six of them are shoved into the helicopter, Locke enters, but he is too late. The Helicopter takes off as Locke frnatically rushes to catch it, he yells something at Jack, but he does not hear it. Juliet comforts Jack inside the helicopter as they take to the sky to go for further interrogation...
