The mercenary team came to the Island aboard the freighter Kahana to apprehend Benjamin Linus and kill the rest of the Island's inhabitants. They were responsible for the deaths of at least six people on the Island. They were lead by Martin Keamy, who was hired by Charles Widmore. The mercenaries fatally shot Karl and Danielle Rousseau and took hostage Alex as the three were hiking to the security of the Temple.
