Isabella is the "someone" Jacob said was coming to the Island[]

Widmore's arrival in the sub is a coincidental red herring. Ghosts are an unexpected ally for Jacob, but wholly "practical." Jacob indicated the entire Lighthouse mission was a diversion for Jack & Hurley, but still confirmed that "someone" would probably still find the Island. Richard's crisis of faith & potential switch of sides caused Jacob to reach out to the ghost of Isabella to come intercede.

Hurley walking out to the surf for their first conversation might also be a subtle indication of 'arrival.' One might expect her ghost to be lingering near Richard until he took off, so she easily could've accosted Hurley from the jungle side of their camp. We don't know how Hurley's ability works exactly, but based on Charlie/Ana Lucia/Jacob it seems a ghost has to appear "to" Hurley, he doesn't summon (yet). But if Isabella were following Richard day & night for 150 years, you'd expect her to appear to Hurley as soon as he met Richard in the jungle, if not as soon as he woke up from the 815 crash.

This timing indicates Jacob's intercession & his repute for striking bargains - reaching out to let Isabella know there was a medium on the Island, but that contact with Richard had a small price - urging him to stop MiB.
