Aboard Flight 815

Lost6x01-0231

Hurley tells Sawyer that he is the luckiest man in the world. ("LA X, Part 1")

Hurley was approached by Leslie Arzt, who asked him to do his Australian accent from the commercials, and was asked how he came to own his own business. Hurley replied, "I won the lottery, and I really like chicken, so I bought it." Though warned by Sawyer on the plane not to divulge too much about himself, as it could make him a target for the unscrupulous, Hurley did not seem to worry—he has led a very lucky life, he claimed, and could not see that changing. When the plane landed in LA, he exited with the rest of the passengers. ("LA X, Part 1")

After the flight

6x04 CallMyPeople

Hurley meets John Locke. ("The Substitute")

Outside the airport, Hurley waited in line for a taxi and discussed business on his cell phone. ("LA X, Part 2") ("What Kate Does")

In the parking lot of the building of the box company he owned, Hurley ran into John Locke who was unable to get into his van, because Hurley had marked his yellow Hummer too close to his extending ramp. After an irate discussion about Hurley parking too close to his vehicle, regardless of the fact that he hadn't used a disable bay, Hurley told Locke he was the owner of the company, which defused the situation. After introducing themselves, John told Hugo that he has been fired by Randy, whom Hurley called “a huge douche.” Hurley gave John the number to a temp agency (which he also owned, and where he employed Rose) before telling him that “things are gonna work out.” ("The Substitute")
