The Lost Supper.

The Lost Supper is the official cast picture for season 6. It recreates The Last Supper, a 15th century painting by Leonardo da Vinci.

Lost had previously featured various allusions to the Bible, but this explicit reference prompted significant analysis, including predictions about the upcoming season's plot lines.

The Last Supper[]

The Last Supper was the last meal Jesus shared with his twelve Apostles before his death. According to what Paul the Apostle recounted in 1 Corinthians 11:23–26, with specific reference to eating bread and drinking from a cup, Jesus told his disciples: "Do this in remembrance of me".

The Last Supper portrays the reactions of the twelve apostles to the statement of Jesus: "One of you will betray me." (John13:26-13:27, Matthew 26:21, and Mark 14:18)

Analysis[]

Ultima Cena (nomi)

The original painting, with the apostles' names in Italian.

In the cast picture there are 14 people, instead of 13. Locke takes the place of Jesus, Jack the place of 'doubting' Thomas, Sayid the place of Judas Iscariot, and Kate the place of John (or Mary Magdeline). Richard appears in the place of Jacob, and Jin as Jacob the Elder.

In the first promo shot some of the characters appear to be looking into each other in pairs, similar to the composition in da Vinci's painting. The Man in Black, or Locke, always stares forward.

In the second version of the photo, Claire and Miles switch sides, Hurley moves to the left, Sun and Ben switch with each other.

The table is formed by a plane wing. On it are displayed various examples of DHARMA-branded foods. There are two skulls visible under the table, one beneath Sayid, the other beneath Hurley and a third behind Ilana at the bottom of the rocks. You can also see part of the Swan logo on the wall in the background.
