On this day[]

  • A new video message was released.
  • Test 5 was released.

Video[]

  • In this video, Hans Van Eeghen warns recruits to refrain from any "cheats" that can be used for the tests. He says that Black Swan is responsible for the cheats.
  • A white square showing a morse code can be seen in the lower right corner of the video. The message can be decoded as ""THE CHEAT IS IN THE SEQUENCE BUT THE SEQUENCE IS THE ANSWER."

Namaste my recruits. Today I have again taken the decision to address you all in a video presentation in the hope that it may drive home the gravity of my message. It has come to my attention that a number of recruits were exposed to cheat codes in recent tests. We do not yet know how many recruits exploited this information to their advantage but be assured, we are investigating. This latest breach is most definitely related to the previous Black Swan incidents. Most disturbingly, I have discovered these breaches have originated from within the Dharma Initiative itself. It appears Black Swan is someone within this noble organization. It is not yet clear what this person's motivation might be, but we are doing everything in our power to gain the upper hand in this contest. In the meantime, I urge all recruits to avoid contact with the material Black Swan is releasing. These cheats threaten to contaminate the integrity of the entire testing program. If you discover what appears to be a cheat, I urge you not to view or investigate the material further. In any case, I thank you for your dedication to the Dharma Initiative's vision and wish you well in your remaining assessments. Namaste.

Test 5[]

Test 5, called the Numeric Projection Evaluation, is available on the site. The test lets recruits use mathematics to solve number sequence problems. Most of the questions require simple use of mathematics, such as 5, 6, 7, 8, ___ or multiplications like 2 8 64 768 ___ (multiplying by 4 then 8 then 12, so then 16). The last few questions also use the Fibonacci sequence, so for instance 5 8 13 21 ___ (8+5=13, 13+8=21, so the next is 21+13=34). One particularly difficult question involves using the Morse code cheat, and is a Conway sequence. A sequence such as 32 1312 11131112 _____ requires breaking the numbers, so 32 is "one three, one two" so 1312. Repeating this process makes the answer, so from 11131112 "three ones, one three, three ones, one two" would leave 31133112.

The groups for the test are: Hemera, Aether, Chaos, Chronos, Nyx, and Oranos (alternate spelling of Uranus). All are primordial deities from Greek mythology.
