Claire Littleton is a young pregnant woman who was traveling to Los Angeles to give her unborn baby, Aaron, up for adoption but now that the couple is seperated, it is unknown if Claire is going to keep her baby or not. When Claire got off the plane in Los Angeles International Airport, her taxi was hijacked by Kate Austen which put into motion events that lead to a friendly relationship.
After the flight
Claire's taxi is hijacked by Kate. ("LA X, Part 1")
Upon arrival to the LAX airport she was not picked up at the airport by the couple that was supposed to be adopting her baby so she was going to take a taxi to the couple's home. Her plans were interrupted by Kate Austen, who was trying to escape from a Federal Marshall by hijacking her taxi by gunpoint. ("What Kate Does") ("LA X, Part 2").
While the taxi was at a stop due to dropped baggage in the cross walk, Claire tried to exit the taxi but was pulled back in by Kate. At one point when the taxi driver abandoned the car at a red light, Kate ordered Claire to "Give me your purse!" and ordered her out of the taxi. Although she begged to let Kate to take her suitcase with her, Kate screamed "No! Get out of the car!", where Claire was left on the side of the street before the taxi drove off. ("What Kate Does")
After leaving Claire on the side of the road and stopping at a chop shop, Kate raids Claire's baggage, and finds a Polaroid of a smiling pregnant Claire, a large stuffed killer whale, and other baby items. Kate feels remorse and decides to go back to give the girl her things back. Finding Claire sitting on a bench at a bus stop, Kate returns her things back to her and asks "Where were you going? Before I got into the cab?" to which Claire resentfully replies, "Why, so you can hijack them too?". Kate informs Claire that she didn't take her money and asks again where she was going. After mentioning an address in Brentwood, Kate asks if she has family there, but Claire says no, she was going to the house of the couple that is going to adopt her baby but they did not pick her up from the airport like planned. Kate mentions that Brentwood is not far and gives Claire a ride to the couple's house. Claire looking around the neighborhood and mentioning that they must be a very nice couple, but becomes very nervous, asking Kate if she thought the couple left her at the airport on purpose, "because they didn't". Once arriving at the house, she asks Kate if she will come in with her because she doesn't want to go up there alone. When they show up at the door an upset Mrs. Baskum opens the door and apologizes and informs her that her husband left her. Although she wanted the baby so much, she can't do it on her own and that she should have called Claire. Saying that she did not "change her mind" but that her life is really complicated right now but Kate interrupts her saying how Claire flew all the way from Australia but she couldn't call and Claire begins having contractions because of the stress. In the hijacked taxi, Kate takes Claire to the ER and is rushed into a room, Claire being upset and not knowing what is happening is being told the doctor will be in shortly. Kate leaves the OB Triage and finds a doctor, Dr. Goodspeed and asks if she can "get help in there". Dr. Goodspeed informs Claire that "Mother nature has gotten a little ahead of herself" and asks if she is ready to have her baby. Being 36 weeks, she can deliver the baby if she wants to tonight. He can stop the labor but it would require non-harmful drugs to stop the labor process and "he would rather not stick her with needles if he didn't have to". Claire says she isn't ready and the monitor with the baby's heartbeat flatlines, Dr. Goodspeed mentions the baby could be out of position, she cries "Is Aaron going to be okay?" having just given her baby a name. An ultrasound shows Aaron is fine, "The boy just likes to move around. I have a feeling that Aaron is going to be a handful" to Claire's relief, they slow down the labor. Kate is holding Claire's hand.

Later, a detective Rasmussen comes into her hospital room and ask if "Joan Hart" is there but Claire says that she was just the cab driver and she had dropped her off - and had no idea where she was going. Kate comes out from an authorized personnel only room and thanks Claire for covering for her. She asks Kate why they are after her and what she did, and Kate says "Would you believe me if I said I was innocent?" and Claire replies she would. Claire gives Kate her credit card to use, that there isn't much of a limit on it, but it's something. Before Kate leaves she mentions that "Aaron" is a great name and Claire replies "Yeah, I don't know why I said it, it's like I knew it or something". Kate says Claire should keep the baby and leaves.
