Cindy Chandler is a flight attendant at Oceanic Airlines. She was on the Tail Section of Flight 815 when it crashed. She went missing during the Tailies' journey across the island to join the beach camp.
Before the crash
Cindy appears to be of Australian origin, and was the unrequited love of Gary Troup, who dedicated his novel Bad Twin to her. He was reportedly "completely smitten" for her, and indeed in an interview as part of the Lost Experience, Troup commented that she was the girl who changed his mind on marriage. Cindy was also given a role in the book, as main protagonist Paul Artisan speaks to a flight attendant named Cindy whilst on an Oceanic Airlines flight to Sydney.
Prior to the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, Cindy had a short conversation with Jack and gave him extra drinks (vodka). Minutes later, she noticed Charlie's behavior and chased him down the walkway to the toilets where he hid to take drugs, just beofre the plane began to experience turbulence.

After the plane crashed, Cindy lived in The Arrow with the rest of the Tailies. She also suggested that Nathan was not on the plane, promoting her talent of remembering faces, though this turned out to be exaggerated as she did not recognise the raft survivors or the fact that Goodwin was not present on the flight.
As the group trekked across the island towards the main survivor camp, Cindy unexpectedly disappeared as the Tailies attempted to move an injured Sawyer up a steep hill using a built stretcher. She was last seen passing Libby a stick halfway up the slope, but by the time the group got to the top and realised she was not there, they could find no sign of her. Immediately after this, the sound of whispers could be heard in the jungle, forcing the group to run, believing that she was silently taken by the Others.
UPDATE: The recent clips from Season 3's LOST MOMENTS has revealed that Cindy is in fact alive and with the Others. The clips shows her talking with Jack, who is now in Kate's cage on the Hydra Island. She is with a larger group of Others, like the ones in Otherville, she says that she is there to "watch" something and Jack becomes angered as to why she is there.
