Charles Widmore first appeared in "Live Together, Die Alone" the 23rd and final episode in Lost Season 2. Charles is a member of the Widmore family.

Charles is played by the actor Alan Dale, of New Zealand.

His daughter, Penelope Widmore is the ex-girlfriend of Desmond.
Disapproved of Penelope's relationship with Desmond
- Intercepted letters that Desmond wrote to Penelope from prison.
- Attempted to bribe Desmond to cease the relationship.
He sponsored the sailing race around the world in which Desmond was participating when he first encountered the Island.

Charles Widmore is the owner of Widmore Labs.
- This is how he got the money to pay off Desmond and to pay the winner of the race around the world.
He is the man in the window of the Hanso commercials.
Widmore arranged the sailing race knowing Desmond would accept, and led him to the island to crash there.
Charles led Desmond purposely to the Island because he wanted Desmond apart from his daughter, Penelope
Charles hired Libby to give a boat for Desmond.
