Relationships

• Robert is Alex's father because Danielle mentions him as her former love in "Solitary".
• Alexandra has the same colors and hair style as Danielle and she is in the right age (16 years old). To make it clear that Alex is in fact a teenager, the writers gave her a passionate teenage boyfriend. On the one hand, Alex's characteristics clearly resemble Danielle and they also share a similar excellent aptitude at shooting (Danielle with a crossbow and Alex with slingshot/rocks) so there can surely be little doubt they are mother and daughter. Ben on the other hand shares nothing, gene wise, with Alex. The writers, probably to enforce the French origin of Alex, gave her a small touch of a French accent creating a small blooper, since she was told by the others that she mother died when she was young.

  • Ben - who has raised her as her father, regardless of bloodline.

Whereabouts

• Alternates between the Barracks and various jungle hideouts depending on the relationship status with her father.

• Is one of the voices Jack hears on the supposedly inoperable intercom system.

Miscellaneous theories

• Alex's views don't always seem to coincide with the rest of the Others; she may be allied with them because of necessity, or against her will.
  • The way Alex seems unlike the others is that she thinks for herself and is more humane. Perhaps the type of mind control we saw being used on Karl was used on all others by Ben, except Alex. Maybe her father couldn't stand to damage her spirit in this way.

• Judging by her slingshot attack, and the reactions of the guards, she enjoys some sort of protection (she was simply led away - not assaulted or captured). It might have little to do with her status among the Others, but this and the fact that Ben is considered to be her father shows that she is regarded as an important member of the Others' community.
• Was kidnapped as a baby (or from within the womb) by the Others from Danielle for the same purpose that they tried to take Aaron from Claire's womb.
  • Has been raised by Ben with the intention of Alex becoming the future leader of The Others. There is definitely a more favourable view of Alex over others her age (eg Karl). However, perhaps now that the Others have at least two other children (Zack and Emma) under their control, their hold on Alex might be loosened, perhaps allowing her to join with the Losties in the near future.
  • Has been raised by the Others so that she can procreate, since the Others have lost the ability to do so on their own.
• Alex is not Danielle's daughter and Danielle is just so distraught that she thinks Alex is her daughter.
