*An agelessness effect could be achieved by trapping one's phisical body into a time loop. The ageless charathers could be aging, but from time to time, somehow, the loop reaches its "end" and starts again, leaving their memories and accumulated knowledge from that time intact, but "reseting" the age effect in their bodies. In other words, it could be a result from manipulating time in a certain way that would make one's phisical body trapped inside a time loop, while leaving it's mind and outside world unnaffected.

It could be argued that [[Jacob]] and [[Richard]] are not ageless at all, but that instead they have the ability to travel through time. Note that many other characters, including [[Sawyer]] and [[Jin]] have been seen during various time periods without ageing.

Agelessness
Main Discussion
Theories may be removed if ...
  1. Stated as questions or possibilities (avoid question marks, "Maybe", "I think", etc).
  2. More appropriate for another article.
  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.
  6. Responding to another theory (use discussion page instead).
  • This does not include responses that can stand alone as its own theory.
  • Usage of an indented bullet does not imply the statement is a response.

See the Lostpedia theory policy for more details.

Origins

  • The ability of agelessness could be achieved by ingesting/being in contact with some form of substance found only on that Island. In fact, that substance might be the reason why the Others are on the island, as well as why Charles Widmore or even DHARMA Initiative wants to explore the island in the first place.
  • The ability of agelessness might be a superpower carried by Jacob or/and the Man in Black, which they can grant to any one they want at will. They might have had born with the superpower for some reason.
    • They might not be from planet Earth/not be proper humans, could explain the origin of the superpower.
  • An agelessness effect could be achieved by trapping one's phisical body into a time loop.

Time Travel

It could be argued that Jacob and Richard are not ageless at all, but that instead they have the ability to travel through time. Note that many other characters, including Sawyer and Jin have been seen during various time periods without ageing.
